- Abhijnanasakuntalam Act 7 is the final and concluding act where all previous loose ends are brought to resolution. The sadness of Sakuntala, the gloomy remorse of Dushyanta are resolved through a final happy reunion. This video is a detailed analysis of the most important lines of the Act, in easy language. Ma'am, i read the whole play, watched the play which was available and acknowledged everything and your videos assisted me more perfectly. According to my perception i dont think Kalidas is Feminist but i realized, this nataka was written in that pov.
One very important question that triggered in my mind is Sakuntala was responsible for her trauma, When she meet King, she fell in love at first sight ( idk how you fall in love at first sight), believed an alien( idk how ppl trust any alien or a stranger), she figured out he was hungry for her body rather her soul ( obviously what will attract in one day definitely the body parts). All i realized being relevant with this CE is she was also attracted to kings personality.
All that was attraction not love from both the individuals(हिंदी में कहते हैं मोह माया).
Doesn't matter how innocent you are,gotta figure out whats right/wrong ( which even she realized😑).
I strongly believe if i am suffering i am myself responsible.
And yea for sure women are definitely suffering but you cant skip the men's pain.

but just to answer your question ... i dont believe if kalidas was a feminist.
Not that he didn't understand women or respected them, as Dushyanta's approach is made too soft and subtle even when he is being accused of being the husband of another's wife at the court. But literature and cinema i feel brings change in the society and that can be brought if the literature or people act as catalysts.
Had it been only the potrayal of the society only, the rise of change would never have touch the women liberty. he was definitely not a feminist. Or not someone who foresighted the consequences of such a society in future.
Feminism has a wider definition than we often believe. To allow women any voice can also be one. Of course he was not as feminist as Shakespeare . But his portrayal raises questions about position of women . And that is worth some consideration
