Sorry for the repost, had to fix a couple errors! So, what color do we repaint the 944? Brown, black, red, etc🤔
I'd say either red or black. It's a tough choice!

I have to say as an owner of an ‘83 “Platinum” color 944, the brown looks very crappy.

You guys are usually an inspiration and I love the channel ... but you have a rare early car there and tearing it apart to recoup the costs is sacrilege. There aren't many 944's with that spec, those seats and those door cards and it really deserves a quality restoration rather than a quick strip and build for likes. I'm confident you will pick up a new audience if you do this car the right way ... almost like a Singer 944 build with your own twist!

Why would it need to be the ‘free’ Porsche?? 1300$ is good enough!Honestly just leave the seats in, keep the doorcards and keep her stock. I can assure you a well kept, original to specification 944 will be worth something some day. With that said, the original brown!

You need to paint it some sort of brown and definitely do the water pump and belt. Please don’t sell the seats, keep it original.

Brown metalic for sure, but it would be great if it will be much deeper than original and with metalic add 😁
I would go with the brown and make it metalic. You don't see them that often. Also I found my rear turbo diffuser for pretty cheap on ebay.

I've been trying to buy a 944 for a while, now I know why I can't find an affordable one. They're on TH-cam getting sorted and restored. My mom had an 86 944 and in her failing health I was hoping I could find one get it drivable so she could drive her favorite car again. Thanks for showing me how to fix it if I can ever find one.
The "finds" remind me of an '87 VW 16V Scirocco I bought years ago. Cleaning it out, I found a bankruptcy petition for the former owner and a 5 cassette self study course on becoming a financial advisor. Seats, I have a pair of seats from an '86 Alfa GTV6 that I have been dragging around for at 25 years. I know I'll have a use for them.

Color: The “Platinum” color for 1983 looks gold with a brown tint. This was a very popular color for the 1st year of export to the US. 2nd color choice is Guards Red!

You should repaint it Charcoal instead of boring-black and with a Pearl finish to the paint this car would look sick ! Also the fact that you want to sell the seat for the price you pay for the whole car is a genius idea ;-)

My early '85 has the gun metal black which isn't exactly black but allows the tires and bumpers to blend in perfectly. It's the best color for this car, I think. I own this N/A '85 944, a 'yellow/black landou top 75 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe, and an silver '04 Vibe GT with the 2zzge 8,200 rpm engine and 6 speed. All fun cars. Peace

Matte / Satin Brown would bring it up-to-date. Mercedes uses this colour and it looks awesome.
Metallic brown would look good, but what about a metallic dark blue? That would compliment the interior so well in my opinion!

Go back with the original brown with a little more flake in it. As a guy that grew up in the 80s, I think it's a classic color for the time period.
Black would look great until you open the door or pop the hood. I think the metallic brown would be best.

Volvo had a beautiful brown color called 'Rich Java Metallic' which is the most beautiful, deep metallic flake brown. I think the 944 would look stunning in that.

Navarra Violet Metallic (BMW color). It’s kinda brown without actually being brown. It would go well with a brown interior.
