Hi Mark, your cozy cabin is perfect for your video in cold winterdays especially with the fireplace in the background. Here on the island you can find this Romatik only in the mountains. I like the nº 32 too. It is a fine smoke and an old comrade of mine since eternal times, who always finds me. The nasal warmers are not necessarily my cup of tea, but the craftsmanship seems to be excellent. hanks for the hint. Maybe they will offer other models in the future. The last weeks I was in the hospital. I unfortunately could not follow the scene for that reason. But now I can finally enjoy my pipes again to relax. Thanks for this very nice video again. I was contacted by Black Meerschaum the other night, and I checked out their line of pipes. Looks like a very nice selection of pipes, and I like the detail on the stems (tenon/mortise). Unfortunately I'm not in the market for a new pipe, but I'll definitely be looking at them when the time comes. Enjoy the new pipe!

Long time no see Mark, horrible weather here as well, like -15c and trainloads of snow has fallen even here on the south, looking forward to spring to come and as soon as possible, as for Turkish meerschaum pipes,my problem as well are stems how they came,(as a rule thick and clumsy)very seldom if ever I'm seeing no filter push in normal stems ,not to mention mortises with briar inlays, mostly what I see is stems either with 9mm or standard ones with teflon /white plastic tenon + plastic/rubber mortise inlays,and properly done aftermarket stems do cost money as well, more than $ 10,Thanks for the tobacco and pipe review,there were lots of information as always, Best Greets,see You again, Paul
Hello Mark my friend, good to see you! Well,...that is a short, but huge bowled pipe...which I could see being a popular style. There aren't many meerschaum carvers making the nosewarmer shape...and it's become popular...I'm not really into them either...but many are.... As for the Larsen, well, ....we all known they do quality tobaccos, and this one looks and sounds delicious, though I've not tried it obviously...I will keep it on my radar. Bremen Pipe Smoker Hi Mark. Unfortunatelly, it is some months ago I was at the Tabaklädeli and at that time there were no news regarding US tobaccos. Mr. Wagner said, he has some ideas but he will first visit a pipe show in 2019 in the USA to make a decision. Next time I will be there I will ask him and let you know. What I have observed when we were talking in Ronny's place is that we seem to come to similar conclusions on many things, like when interpreting historical events. It happened again when you showed the Black Meerschaum nosewarmer. I was thinking, "This is actually a good idea. Use traditional material but make modern/popular shapes to hopefully attract more smokers." And you basically said the same! :-) This is particularly relevant for me because I recently a TH-cam video about a traditional meerschaum pipe carver in Turkey who is almost out of business because nobody is buying his products anymore. This Black Meerschaum pipe made me realize that these old pipe carvers are probably not selling as much because they rely too much on the traditional style of carving. Yeah they are really nice works of art but I personally won't buy them for everyday smoking.
Mark - you have been missed my friend. Looks like you are warm and fuzzy in your humble retreat. I have a couple of Meerschaum pipes but very seldom smoke them as they emit a strange taste that is unpleasant to me. Hope you have the time to bless us with more video's and words of wit. Blackmeerschaum is by far the best meer I have ever encountered. And I happen to have the nosewarmer (dublin) one. In fact, if I remember correctly, it was this video that has planted the bug in my head and I searched for it online right away. In 2020 I won a christmas game and he also sent me a small pipe for present. I think I will order another nosewarmer soon… And the tobacco, well as a strictly non-aromatic smoker, this is one of the few exceptions.

Mark, I have been checking out on-line US sources, including the Danish Pipe Shop for the Larsen's Blend No. 32 Curly Flake. No luck. Should you have suggestions about who may carry the tobacco, I'd appreciate the information. By the way, you certainly have a cozy cottage room there, complete with fireplace to enjoy a pipe on a cold winter day.

We have been lucky in december (not too cold), but since january, it is very cold... -28C (without the chill factor) today!! So, no pipe smoking for me... I don't have a little warm place to smoke a pipe!! :-( That is a very nice pipe... Black Meerschaum is also on Instagram, if you want to add the link in your bucket. I have subscribe to them since the opening (and probable a little before, while they started advertising). I am not into nose warmer, but will keep the company in mind if they make more traditional shape. Got two new (estate) Meerschaum pipe from a fellow canadian... two Altinay with 9mm filter. I am so happy, and they smoke beautifully well. I just cannot get to smoke much the past few months with the cold weather around... I am so much looking for spring... It's nice to see a meerschaum pipe fitted with a proper tenon Mark. As for Larsen's 32, I think I still have one of the older tins (dark red) cellared. Can't remember if I got it from Ronny or the Danish Shop, which by the way no longer exports tobacco, so no more Gawith Brown Sugar Flake...

I just had an observation.The number on the bowl mortice (yours is 30) my new mershaum have 37.Does these numbers mean something?I do not know basically anything of mershaums (thats why i just binge watch your videos lol)
I agree that meerschaum is the best material for smoking tobacco. That's why I own five nice meerschaum pipes. Question, when the bee's wax wears off your meerschaum pipes, do you rewax your pipes ? If you do rewax, what process do you use ?

Blackmeerschaum is by far the best meer I have ever encountered. And I happen to have the nosewarmer (dublin) one. In fact, if I remember correctly, it was this video that has planted the bug in my head and I searched for it online right away. In 2020 I won a christmas game and he also sent me a small pipe for present. I think I will order another nosewarmer soon… And the tobacco, well as a strictly non-aromatic smoker, this is one of the few exceptions.

Great video as always, Mark! Thanks for the packing tip for curly flakes and other interesting discussion as well. It also looks like you enjoy pairing your smokes with a good coffee or espresso. In America, of course, coffee is huge. All types: espresso, latte, black diner-style coffee, etc. What is the coffee culture like in Germany, and how do you like to prepare your cup of coffee to have with a good smoke? Well... I prefer my coffee self roasted in french plus roasted style... very dark and strong.. prepared in an italian espresso machine... served with a hint of coffe milk to contrast the coffee strength... perhaps enjoyed with a bowl of cabbies mixture...

Very cool that you roast your own coffee. I too prefer French roast I grind myself but in a stovetop espresso maker, with a little milk and cane sugar for texture and less acidity. Sounds like we have similar tastes! I'll make it a point to order some Cabbies Mixture for my next purchase. I've never had it and hope I can get it here in the states.

Heyyy Mark so good to see you happy new year brother im seriously thinking of buying a Meershum i dont have one and hopefully sometime this year after saving some coins i can purchase me one. I belive in helping these new small company's that are coming up and to get a Meershum from Turkey that sounds like sound Quality to me those blends remind me of a twisted flake i have some Peter stokkabye Luxury twist flake and it looks alot like the one you showed us. And Mark me and you rub out our flakes. The same way. Lol. I rub mine in my hand together. Thanks so much for. Sharing this information about this new company Black meeshum looking forward to. Mark, I have been checking out on-line US sources, including the Danish Pipe Shop for the Larsen's Blend No. 32 Curly Flake. No luck. Should you have suggestions about who may carry the tobacco, I'd appreciate the information. By the way, you certainly have a cozy cottage room there, complete with fireplace to enjoy a pipe on a cold winter day.

Great to see you. When you say you have bad weather, you mean rainy-snowy days? We have been lucky in december (not too cold), but since january, it is very cold... -28C (without the chill factor) today!! So, no pipe smoking for me... I don't have a little warm place to smoke a pipe!! :-(
That is a very nice pipe... Black Meerschaum is also on Instagram, if you want to add the link in your bucket. I have subscribe to them since the opening (and probable a little before, while they started advertising). I am not into nose warmer, but will keep the company in mind if they make more traditional shape.
Got two new (estate) Meerschaum pipe from a fellow canadian... two Altinay with 9mm filter. I am so happy, and they smoke beautifully well. I just cannot get to smoke much the past few months with the cold weather around... I am so much looking for spring...

It's nice to see a meerschaum pipe fitted with a proper tenon Mark. As for Larsen's 32, I think I still have one of the older tins (dark red) cellared. Can't remember if I got it from Ronny or the Danish Shop, which by the way no longer exports tobacco, so no more Gawith Brown Sugar Flake...

I agree that meerschaum is the best material for smoking tobacco. That's why I own five nice meerschaum pipes. Question, when the bee's wax wears off your meerschaum pipes, do you rewax your pipes ? If you do rewax, what process do you use ?
