Hey Mark my friend! Sorry I didn't comment earlier, been held down by work! Anyways....well, what a video...most intense so far, hoping you'd survive the whole time! But a difficult video for a difficult story is fitting! Very interesting and disturbing..... I haven't had Old Gowrie for many years, even though Rich's has it on the shelf most of the time. Thanks so much for this pipe adventure...top notch my friend! Take care...gonna hit you back soon, it life releases just a bit! Corey
Mark has been so let down by so many special editions of late that he thought it would be better to tempt fate with a boulder and throw himself down a mountain rather than face this years holiday blends. Good seeing you again Mark and have yourself a wonderful holiday season. Be well friend.
I really like this one . I like such " marginal " places . I'm kind of pleasantly surprised that places like this exist in " the old world " . Even here they are becoming overrun by agriculture , or some other kind of progress , so it's nice to see this place . I wonder if there is anywhere in the world one can be where highway sound doesn't exist ?
You’re risking life and limb for the YTPC and we are always grateful for that! You convinced me to open the tin of Old Gowrie I had in the cabinet. Thank you for another great video, my friend!
I've smoked a lot of Old Gowrie in the past. Still have quite a bit now. I found Robert McConnell Scottish Cake not too long ago. Very similar, but maybe a touch sweeter and smoother. At least to me anyway. Been smoking that more lately. Another one that is produced by Kohlhase & Kopp nowadays. Seems like a lot of those old stories and fairy tales were very disturbing. Probably to scare the children so they would behave or something like that. Very interesting to say the least. Love your videos, and look forward to the next one. You take care.
Mark my brother, wonderful to see you!! Outstanding video! Fantastic location and story. I was a bit nervous for you when you mentioned Germains under that rock! 😂 I think it took revenge on your bag😮 Old Gowrie is a tasty baccy. Thank you again and take care. Hope to see you soon 👍😎👊
New subscriber. I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. Your approach to pipes and your notes and descriptions of tobacco blends has me excited to try some new blends. I've never thought about smoking a meerschaum pipe, but you have me wanting to buy one now as well. I'm not sure that i can have a Bremen made Meerschaum shipped to Virginia, in the USA....but I'm going to try. All the best to you and I look forward to watching both old and new videos from you in the future. Cheers frim Virginia. Jeff.
I watched your video about importing pipe tobacco from the US and how difficult it is. I will be in Northern Germany around Christmas. If you want to I can bring you some tobacco if there is one you really want.
Thank you Mark for another fantastically enjoyable excursion and tale. I thought I was caught up in another 'Indiana Jones' movie. Those slippery leaves and mossy rocks were a recipe for disaster, and when you blurted out "I'm getting too old for this shit" I damn near fell out of my chair laughing. I can relate🤣 Take care

Mark, Thanks for the video, you made my day. You are great at producing adventure comedy. Great story and I always enjoy your historic perspective. Ron
Mark, man, we love your videos....OK guys when you ask Mark to make videos more often he does the opposite. Ask him to make less videos, hopeful it'll have the effect we want. We should name him Germain.
@@edjo3430 Thank you so much for that, my friend! Appreciated by heart! Well... I'm in the middle of moving to another flat... probably don't have to tell you, what that means... 😬 But don't worry...I'll be back soon! Take good care and be well, my friend! Mark
Perfect timing for a vid from you. Just broke in a new MKM smooth Rhodesian Meer yesterday. :). Old Gowrie was the first blend I bought a pound of (500g) Broke up into several 2oz jars and most there with some good age now. Just opened a jar a week ago. Love the videos man. Obviously good amount of time doing these as always. Hope you’re doing great. - Pete
Brilliant dear Mark!!! 😮what you won’t do for the YTPC… bravo 👏 I love old Gowerie and as always appreciate your truthful review!!! Ciao 👋 Grazie 🙏 S. PS: I like the first ending 😊

Good to see you out on another great adventure Mark I really like the Rattays blends I have some Old Gowrie in my cellar. I would love to take a metal detector and see what might be buried out there I'm sure lots of lost history just waiting to be found. I hope you have a blessed Christmas and New Year my friend
Hola Mark, this was a very dangerous way to make this exciting video, but you survived 👏🏼. That's great. A horrible story of the poor male in the cave and the cruel Lippohold. The old Growi is a very good old stuff which I like too. Thanks for all this work to make thus beautiful video. Take care my friend. Best wishes from the 🌞🏝. Michael
Hi Mark - Big fan of Rattrays virgina blends - including OG! Off topic question (if I may) - we will be travelling to the Rhine valley next year around Alsace and Freiburg im Breisgau. Any interesting (non-touristy) places of interest you can recommend for a day trip? I have to think that the Black Forest has a bunch of interesting, "off the beaten path" sites to visit. Cheers!
Always an adventure with the Bremen Pipe Smoker. Greatly appreciated! It has been several months, missed watching your videos. I got my first Meerschaum Pipe from Black Meerschaum, thanks to you. It is a really good smoking pipe.
There is actually 57gr., not 50gr. In the C&D and G.L. Pease tins, and a tin costs around 18€ right now here in Germany. Which is still quite expensive, but it's imported from the U.S, so it makes a bit of sense. The prices of Samuel Gawith tobaccos on the other hand went through the roof and up into the sky, to an absolutely ridiculous level, with over 22€ for just 50gr., and as we all know comes with an extra high moisture content. All of their blends are now as expensive as Cabbies Mixture was, which is just crazy.
Never let it be said that you don’t risk life & limb to show us the most fascinating historical locations. You bring us a heady mixture of fine tobacco & history. Old Gowrie is lovely and I like Marlin Flake also. I hope you found your way safely back to the village and live happily ever after.😂
Dear Mark, that was a close one, when you slipped! Be careful, we still need you! Maybe that was the way of this stone to comment on your Germains statement. 😅 Great story, and great tobacco. You are absolutely right, it has been a long time since I last grabbed a tin of Old Gowry. Thank you for the video, really enjoyed it, and stay safe! Greetings from Munich, Peter
Hi Mark! When I saw that you made a new video I was in anticipation of a christmas tobacco review. What I got at least was no less interesting and once more a proof, that nothing is too dangerous for active YTPC-members. Neither threatened rockfall nor cave exploring. I did not smoke 'Old Gowrie' for years but now I have to try it once more. Like the 'Marlin Flake' for example, there are some really good tobaccos, which are 'underrated' indeed. Thank you for the entertainment and take care of yourself. Greetings from Sarajevo/Bosnia, Holger

However, by the Stone of Truth I will probably need a barrel full of Vaseline😂. I'm looking forward to more videos from you. After this video, you can also take a video from the armchair near the fireplace. Greetings Andreas
Greetings dear professor and it’s great to see you and your historian’s witty approach to truth - even with an “empirical approach” of tempting fate…As far as the Old Gowry, I will respectfully pass on the Kolhass’ version. I’d rather my faint memory of that complex and unique British treatment of Virginias -said to be good enough to be carried to the Orient by the Colonial British officers of the early 1900’s. Hope that we “perhaps “ see you again sooner than later. Thank you!
