I got this blend along with the Sutcliffe vanilla from pipes and cigars. I do like the lane 1 q a lil better atm. Being a new pipe smoker I'll give my taste buds some time to develop a lil before really choosing the better one for me. I do love the fact it'd not gooey and burns great. My tin of We three kings is too wet and has lots of stems in it...
Great review, I agree it’s a great beginner aro, easy to load, light, keep lit, and is a gateway to other blends. That being said, perhaps buy a small quantity to start...for me it was quickly replaced by blends I enjoyed much more.
I ordered a pound because everyone raved about it so much. To be honest, it was a bit too mild for me. Lesson learned about buying a pound prior to taste testing. 😁
Hello. Question tobacco quality and smoothness, how happy you are with rolling tobacco compared to regular ready light cigarettes? Which one is the cleanest, lightest and smoothest one? TY
I wanted to like this blend. Tried many bowls, and disappointed with each one. There are so many other better bulk blends than this even for beginner smokers.
Now many say this is Wilshire. I am here to say no it’s not. Wilshire was the only tobacco I smoked for years. I stopped about 15 years ago when caring for my father. I have recently started up again and bought the 1-Q as recommended. It is not the same stuff unless during that 15 years they stopped making Wilshire. I mean the Tinder Box is still open for business but only sells their tobaccos in bulk. And 1/2 lb. of any of their tobaccos are $45. I just got 1/4 lb. of 1-Q for a tad over $9. So $18 for 1/2 lb. How is The Tinder Box making any money selling store mixes for premium Tin prices? The 1-Q I have has no vanilla room note what so ever. That’s what I wanted. I have limited funds now at age 62 and cannot buy tons of this and that to find another gold tobacco. This one smokes OK but I do not want to offend anyone who comes in my home either.
Great review here. I started out with smoking Wilshire (Tinder Box), it’s what my grandpa always smoked I actually smoke it from one of his old Savinelli’s. When Tinder Box went out of business, I made the connection between Wilshire and 1-Q. Now 1-Q is my bulk daily tobacco. If you like this tobacco, but it’s not sweet enough or you want more flavor, Autumn Evening by Cornell/Diehl is fairly similar in topping/smoke notes, but is decidedly sweeter and more aromatic. The caramel is more noticeable here. On the other hand, Eastfarthing is my evening smoke, and the notes also resemble 1-Q, but are more toned down and there’s much more of the individual tobacco leaves that come through. Same notes, but a more complex smoke that feels a little more refined. Anyway, I thought I’d share my thoughts as these are tobaccos are on similar taste/smoke spectrums to the Lane 1-Q, with each catering to a different smoking experience or smoker preference. 💨💪🏼
If I can roll cigs with sutliff vanilla honey, I bet you can roll cigs with this stuff too. Before you do, just put the tobacco between 2 paper towels and place a book with some weight to it on top of it and leave it for 24 hours. Then, take the book off of it and put the tobacco on a piece of paper and spread it out. Let it sit in a well ventilated room for another 12-24 hours and it’ll be dry enough to roll a cig without giving you a shitload of tongue bite. However, be aware that even if you do this the tobacco won’t be as dry as normal cigarette tobacco as they use propylene glycol as a humectant. And doesn’t evaporate like water. So, it will still have some moisture in it.

Well said
This was my second smoke. It didn’t impress me then or now. Great review. Happy smokes. Have a great weekend👍🏻
Thanks, you too!

Haha it is a good lesson! Yes it is mild and certainly not for everyone.
Best tobacco to smoke when you have a head cold. This and Carter Hall.
Thank you for the review:
What’s up preacher man ! I can smell that aroma from where I sit ! 👋 Good stuff !

I really like this tobacco
It certainly is a solid choice. No doubt why so many have taken to it over the decades.
Always keep some on hand!
Great review! You are so right about the nostalgia element. I'm smoking some right now in a cob. I appreciate it for what it is.
One of my favourite aros. Thanks Logan for your thoughts. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for watching!
Nice review. My local tobacconist sells it as Country Medley. Really good stuff
Love HGL but not a fan of 1Q My favorite aromatic is MB vanilla cream it's very flavorful

It has such a wierd taste to me. Like a wierd chemical sweetness but very faint
Great review and a classic blend. For me tho Sutliff's Vanilla Custard is my go to aro. Enjoy your pipes.
Thanks, you too!
TK6 Black Cherry has a fantastic room note, RLP6 is a chocolate
It's good for a daily. Just smoking on the go.
I wish I could like this blend but I just cannot. Acrid, dirty, sweet. Cloying. Sorry.
We all have our preferences!

Thanks Wilson! Happy Friday!
Thank you too!
Just bought my first pipe and a few different tobaccos. My very fist smoke is lame q 1 and I love it.
Love this channel just subbed you all the best from Scotland
I appreciate it!
I’m new to pipes. I bought a pound of this, have had three bowl, and lots of tongue bite
If your not smoking it from a tin, and you bought it bulk, bulk aromatics are sometimes kind of wet, gotta let them dry out a bit before smoking.
I really like Rattrays aromatics, especially bagpipers Dream.
Wonder if you can use this tobacco to roll a cig
Im not sure.

Thankz for being honest.
you can if you let it dry out a bit
