    Your sample patches on the palette are are extremely useful, and it shows the versatility of combining different combinations of colours and shading techniques. This reinforces the importance of making test pieces before you commit to painting a whole unit of miniatures. It frees you up to experiment and create a new look. Bravo!

    I love the colour scheme for both these models ... and I like the way you show your process , I’ve always struggled with colour schemes so this is a big big help. Also I finally order a set of 5 “ Series S brushes and an XL pallet .. can’t wait to try them out 🤗

    Hey there :)
    I'm the one who asked about which primer color to use in which situation on your hobby fundamentals primer video and you said I it would work better if I commented under a newer video if I had more questions ;)
    So, here is what you wrote and what I replied:
    "Hey dude, white primer if you're going for heavy contrast/wash/shade techniques in my opinion, my preference is (to generalise) A black prime or dark grey/dark prime with a drybrush over the top.
    You get best of both worlds, no weird light shadows, but you're also not 'fighting' to cover over the black. Another way to achieve this is to 'dust' a light primer from above/up to 45degrees over your black primed model, if you google 'zenithal priming' you'll see loads of examples.
    If you reply to this and I don't get back to you comment in a newer video, it's a bit difficult to track comment chains in YT, we're happy to help though!"
    @Artis Opus cool, thanks for the tips :) So far, I only used washes to "paint" my minis but am about to start using acrylic paints. So, for my "washes only" method it seems the white primer was the right choice ;) When you say you use a black/dark grey primer with a drybrush over the top, do you mean you cover the whole primed mini with a drybrush as a sort of base coat and then start painting the mini? I've got dry brushes, acrylic paints, texture palette and everything coming, can't wait to dive into this and your videos made me realize how much I want to try out dry brushing :D
    Thanks a lot for your help and keep up making those great videos :)

      I watched the leather tutorial and it is great :) I just got my first paints in and will try out a dry brushing base coat soon, but for now I'm struggling a bit with a "normal" base coat. I put a question about that under your current newest video already and hope it's the easiest way for you to answer my noob questions :D

    Absolutely love both of them, but the desert skelly prob is my favorite. Love the mix of colors with the brown and blue! Would've personally liked more of the purple in the midnight one and maybe changed the brown leathers for some other color. Maybe a blueisch black? Sorry, im just rambling, i guess you got my creative juices flowing! Great work, now i have to keep myself from buying skeletons!

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All good man, kind of agree with you, too, it'd be cool to have a bit more of the purple tone evident... it's very easy to forget how much is obscured by finishing steps!
      I actually went in a blueish direction on the recent blood knight :D

    • @Mikester88
      @Mikester88 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArtisOpus I did see that! It looked really neat, love the depth of the red on the armor. So fun watching you experiment with the colors, makes me want to buy more of the contrast paints! Been mostly using it for like easy glow/plasma/magic effects instead of big armor parts. Or atleast the contrast medium.
      Although i do prefer my own minis being more on the matt side. I recently bought Vallejo matt medium, haven't yet tried it out tho. But sure will after your vids!

    Very cool, the extra little bit on the steel one really made it pop! Any chance of a guide on painting a lens effect? I know it's nothing vampire related but I know nothing about that range really!

  • @alexb.1019
    @alexb.1019 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Really like that video. Very crisp results, easy to achieve for everyone. Like both versions of those warriors. The only thing i could note here is, that i think that your verdigris looks like it's a bit too much on the blueish side. Maybe it's just the video here, but i would recommend you to try out VGC Foul Green for that type of weathering here. I use it for my personal army and think it's a good base color for that.
    But overall i think those minis both look amazing. ;)

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's completely fair, Alex, the camera loves the turquoise a little too much, however I do think I rushed it, and could have been a bit more delicate/precise! In hindsight if I was going to do it again in the same time I would change the tone a little.
      Thanks for the kind words mate, hope you enjoyed the blood knights :D

    Awesome video mate! This and the vampire one really knocked it out of the park. Looking forward to trying this out, in the future. (-:
    Think my favourite is the steel one. The leather/gold one is great, but the blue went a little to far for my taste.

    I am painting pink horrors now. It would be interesting to see if these could be dry brushed in a good way. Small but with a lot of exposed skin and no real texture on them. And they are not skin toned but mainly some kind of pink/purple color all over

    I would have liked to see a more contrasty/different colour of bone, one that did not just dissapear into the rest of the paintjob. The silver one has a very white bone, and the other a worn´ish brown bone, and both are just not notisable because of the armour colours. Perhaps the bone should have been switched between the models instead?
    It is not bad at all, it looks incredible good.
    But just a thought, to maby change and think about that in the future, so each part are well defined, and does not get lost because of resembling the other parts too much :D
