    Really good result! For the caparison cloth I’d have been tempted to start from a dark base coat like Night Lords Blue or maybe even Corvus Black, then dry brush with Incubi. Starting with Incubi then going up to Thunderhawk is just a little bit bright for me, but that’s my own taste.
    Love the tutorials, keep them coming!

  • @ProrokLebioda

    Best idea when working on an army using this technique is to make separate mixes (in their own bottles, dropper bottles are fine for this) just to keep colors consistent. Having a recipe is okay, but if someone doesn't paint whole unit in one sitting it's good to have mix ready. It also helps with evaporation.
    Great tutorial. I need to get back to drybrushing for now, as I can't be bothered to setup my airbrush booth.
    I've decided to go with LRL instead of Gravelords (kind of disappointed that more emphasis is on zombies/skeleton hordes than on foot vampire troops, like for ex. Castlevania). If they get wave 2 with units of vampire fighters (Vyrkos Bloodborne?) I'll start an army. Until then I'll wait.

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You could always go with Vargheists for core/Terrorgheists, if you're looking for the non-decrepit vamp army?
      Yeah, mix bottles are great, always used one on my mixed order for the turquoise glaze, invaluable!

    I am starting with Monument Hobbies (MH) dark grey primer, then MH metallic silver/gold drybrush. Then, I have exclusively red-blue-yellow MH 'Transparent' (Contrast) paints, which I will mix to create my colors, adding varying amounts of Citadel contrast medium. I think I can make a Wash that way (like your thin blue "shadow"). I will layer them in several coats. Additionally, I think I will glue the whole model together (shield too) before priming and painting. This is my first serious effort; your instruction has inspired me, though I'm clearly on a budget. Your advice will be so much appreciated!

    Hi. I did attempt to follow your steps, albeit not using a branded dry brush. I should have kept the Lance's separate as i did the shields.
    Army painter glistening blood did a good job of adding a shine as a glaze over a mix of Khorne red/contrast medium, cause that's what I have on hand. Dry brushing is definitely different.

    i am so mad lol. i just got done painting a whole mortal nurgle army with the "slapchop"(cant remember the other name for it) method with almost all contrast and one of the things bugging me was metalics. i was putting lead beltcher, retributer etc and was like "dang im covering all the highlights from the first step of this..." it never accrued to me to just dry brush them on. just shows how much i still have to learn with painting. great video and im deffinitly going to use this for my blood knights!

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey dude, it could definitely work! Lighter colour *and* lighter base, the base is what punches through as well as setting the tone, so if you go lighter there (perhaps mid tones, and highlights) that'll help keep your boys shiny :).

    I kind of struggle finding one 😅

    • @ArtisOpus

    • @ArtisOpus
      @ArtisOpus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey dude, sorry for the delay! There's a couple of approaches, depending on how 'old' you want stuff to look, also how much time you want to spend:
      #1 - Brighter chips (easy, fast)
      #2 - Deep black brown chips, and then chip silver/metallic inside these, pushing contrast (slower, fancier, can use less bright silver and still gain decent contrast)
      3# - Deep black brown chips, dark metallic inside them, bright metallic final inside these for most recent (slow, looks amazing done right, difficult, easy to obscure previous steps)
