It's the funniest thing ever when you get Killed by doomfist with his rocket punch when he wasn't even looking at you and you just dashed in front of him
Everyone in quickplay is playing him like a Winston or Genji, diving in to the enemy team and dying, but really he should peeling for his team, protecting the backline, contesting and holding high ground and rocket punching the Winston that dived in.
His kit SHOULD be like that, but his playstyle is different. You got some good skills for an initiator or diver, yet you give him 250 hp AND a *massive hitbox*.
But of course, waiting for the enemy to initiate on you seems to make doomfists play style just as deadly and far less risky. His punch no longer puts him out of position, and the rest of his abilities are just useful in the mid-fight, no matter how you get to it. Granted I haven't had the chance to play with or against him yet, but YO makes some good points.
Godzenvy24 but he doesn't really have something to keep him alive, like winston bubble or dva matrix, his passive doesn't out shield the enemy team's damage, plus he has a massive hit box
I LOVE Doomfist. There's something so satisfied in perfectly dodging between cover and picking people off if they misstep. He definitely shouldn't be played for wild Winston-style charges. He's meant to punish, I think, as opposed to necessarily initiating. Of course that's only with my own experimentation that I'm basing it on but I've had a lot of success with it.
Honestly. Super helpful video. Kept dying without ever realizing why. Really opened up my eyes that perhaps it was because I would NEVER stop charging rocket punch in hopes someone would just walk around the corner and be a total badass. This really helps keep it up :)

Am I the only person who doesn't aspire to be a Doomfist main or even learn how to play him. But just here to learn how he is meant to be played so I know how to counter him and punish Doomfist's who don't know what their doing ?
Jack Waters I am just here because I am shocked there is a doomfist guide hours after he was released, while he is only available in quick play or arcade. Not a single strategy has been tested against an actual team. All he has been tested against is a few potato players who likely only have dps on their team and no tanks or healers. Trying to claim there is a strategy for him is just lies at this point.
A lot of people, from what I experience are playing him purely on his charge, I for one am playing him more defensive giving me better results, this guide really solidifies that gameplay style.
Would love to see a new reticle guide video from you guys, definitely know some friends who've had difficulty with deciding on what settings to go with.

I was just thinking earlier today that Doomfist is a lot like Winston in many ways, and I was trying to think of how to phrase it in a way that didn't make me sound crazy, lol. So yeah, I 100% agree with your assessment there. Patience and awareness are going to be absolutely huge for Doomfist players, primarily in knowing when to engage and disengage, as will cooldown management. Just like our favorite scientist.
So off topic but I'd like you to touch on this in the future. I once played a game of total mayhem as orisa and I found out something interesting. I played her as a protecter against other characters, able to keep people from getting destroyed from ults instead of trying to be an anchor tank. In fact I found orisa is insanely good at protecting since she is able to launch her shield at people who could be getting focused on. Heck even an ability I felt was useless was useful since I was able to block all damage put onto someone (her shift) and then there was even her halt which made it so anyone chasing after a teammate was shutdown. I'm hoping you could touch on the idea of orisa being able to protect people from being killed. Since she can do more than dva when there's enough practice put into her.

Tbh, you really just discovered a basic principle of being a tank. Protecting your team. Orisas should already know this along with tank mains in general. Being a "protector" is already part of being a tank. Doomfist probably has these traits still there from his past where he was probably a tank. Just note that total mayhem is very different to normal overwatch. What you learnt in total mayhem isnt fully true. Yes orisa is great for protecting but not on the insane level you can with lower cooldowns.
When people are talking about how his punch is op cuz it's one shot but the whole point of the hero is that his punch is his strongest asset. Doomfist uses the punch but is vulnerable if it's overshot apart from roadhog who can hook you and then your left pretty much stuck because your stunned. And roadhog has more health.
TwistaT18 doomfist is much better at dueling than roadhog though. Aside from his instakill he doesnt have to reload and has 2 aim disruptive abilities that also provide him with shields. Meanwhile roadhog only has his hook. The damage from his scrap gun is almost negligible at anything but point blank and almost every healer can outheal the damage he puts out. Roadhog is currently a walking talking ult battery that can kinda sorta one shot things but not really. Meanwhile doomfist is this efficent 1v1 machine that can gib a character every 4 seconds conditions being: theres a wall nearby. Its alot stronger than what youre making it out to seem. Plus as seen in the video, doomfist doesnt have to play in a way that makes him vulnerable. Hes very good at punishing players that are out of position and disrupting formations, an interesting mix of old roadhog and current winston.
for those saying doomfist needs a Nerf, he is easy to counter n his attacks are easy to dodge, sombra is best since u can hack and whittle his head down
ThugMazing thugging hack n attack is all n u have the translocator so u can dodge his attacks easily. n since sombras abilities cool down fast as well u can evade just as fast as he attacks... I've found that working primary fire and rocket Punch as the focus of attacking and using the other attacks only situationally to escape, maneuver, or when you know you're in a situation to attack with them and they will land is a good way to get a hold on how to use the character so far in my time playing him.
Chris Bahena Pharah is defenetly a hard counter to Doomfist, But I've seen many times Doomfist use Rising uppercut+Rocket punch combo into a Pharah and insta-killing her. Now some may say those Pharah are noobs but it happens a lot than people think.
McCree is okay against Pharah. Just because he's one of the only characters in the game that can consistently damage her, doesn't make him good against her.
Reaper, sombra, tracer, Reinhardt, mecree, bastion, genii, widowmaker, Hanzo, Orisa, symmetra, mei, soldier 76, Winston, dva, Zaria, mercy, zenatta, Ana, road hog, junk rat, and torbjorn counter doomfist I have misspelled most of them and probably forgot one but you get my point
Can someone explain to me jeff's reasoning? He doesn't like one shot kills so he nerfed road hog to death, but release a hero that can one shot all the heroes that road hog can one shot... but with 4 sec cool Down? Like wtf?
I think a one shot on a hero like this is okay, because he effectively has 650 less health than Roadhog. The problem with Road was you couldn't avoid the hook, and he had heals and an non-situational one-shot (Doomfist has to slam the other character into a wall to even have a chance of one shotting).
Wyre less health yes, but not only does he gains shield for dmg he deals, he has huge reliable mobility spells that can still kill and displace heroes, not to mention doom first is much easier to hit than road hog hook

Well actually if you think about it, he has been 2 weeks in PTR and when he comes to Comp he has been 3 weeks usable, well of course not for console but still :P at least its been a week.
Discipline and composure on Doomfist are key to his play. Its easy to over exert yourself and improper spacing of his abilities are sure to lead to a death
You cannot compare them... they are completely opposite in playstyle. And Doomfists one shot puts him out of position so he gets killed very easily. And roadhog was just unstoppable and his one shot took no risk whatsoever. Roadhog deserved the nerf, while if you nerf doomfist there will be literally no reason to play him. Not to mention Diomfist has very strong counters, while roadhog could take almost anyone on and be guaranteed a win.
as a doomfist player with 70 hours i agree completely. picking your fights is everything and letting them come to you or flanking is how you get the most out of doomfist.
Knight Wing only if it's fully charged and they hit a wall and they didn't dodge the punch after its really loud and relatively long charge up. It probably won't get nerfed, he's a difficult hero to play who can be punished so easily
Such a great video. I've been playing doomie alot and it's great to hear someone else say hey play protect don't go all spammy (paraphrasing of coarse).
My Tip for fellow Doomfists that I've seen and used myself and that using his E on the ground is much more reliable and useable then in the air, I also tend to use my UpperCut and E as "Get Out" Powers and use the Right Click and Primary Fire for attacking. But don't be afraid to use either for their other use to get in or out also.
great video 100% agree, patience is Doomfist's best friend. Too many people just charge in mindlessly. Many people are dropping off doomfist because they cant master this.
Freedo man, I really like your vids, your advice, and your presentation style, so don't take this as criticism: I'm curious why you always say "often times"? I watch a ton of your vids (as I said, you and your team's channel are amazing) and you seem to say it pretty frequently. Is it a thing where you're from?
I don't think anyone should put "an advanced guide" as a video title this early after the hero release, as none of us fully understands Doomfist that well yet, not even the pros I think. Still a nice video to see someone able, telling their views on the hero!
His ult needs a strong buff. It's extremely easy to get out of. I think either they don't show were you're going to land to the enemy, or increase the AOE damage, or come down to smash quicker
Jiddle his ult already makes him invulnerable what further buffs do you want? Sure if you use it by itself its gonna suck ass, people can literally just walk out of the aoe. Combo it with earthshatter or graviton and thats a team kill waiting to happen. You can even use it as a failsafe escape or even a zoning ultimate, forcing enemies into open ground, out of cover, off of high ground, etc. It already has so much utility, it doesnt need a buff.
Ive been playing doomfist and trying to figure him out, his role and playstyle. I was on the right path but this cleared everything up for me and my first game after this was such an improvement :)

Playing as Doomfist is great. Yes he's an offensive character, but his play style is best fit for defense. This video helped out in so many ways, thanks a lot 😄😁
A tip for playing doomfist, only use your slam ability only when you have rocket punch. The slam pulls opponents towards you so you can rocket punch them.
The Doomfist mirror is definitely about who overextended first. He feels pretty strong against many heroes, obviously weak to Pharah, builders, and a well positioned sniper. Only problem is I feel like he is very weak against tanks, because even with a full charge alt fire it only chunks for half, forcing him to commit E-shift or try to get out of the fight which D.Va and Winston can chase. I suppose he has to have some defined weaknesses.
Completely unrelated, as McCree today on Hollywood, i was standing on a building, fanned the hammer, and fell straight through the building and out of the world and died
I notice a lot of people complaining about Doomfist's fist. I'm sure once we know what all he's capable of, it won't be a problem as time goes on. However, if it does take a long time to adapt, I could see the cooldown being nerfed to 6 seconds from 4 so he doesn't have so often.

Ranger18 thats not the only way to play him. ..you can use him on a dive with Dva, zarya, Lucio or with Winston.

Yeah I had lowered cooldowns it but it was to help me be able to get enough chances to figure out the higher skill cap way of protecting team mates

How to play doomfist camp in rooms and when someone runs in right click them into the wall literally every doomfist I play against in qp.

Yeah I don't get it. I think it feels worse to die with an insta kill from doomfist than from hog. Also fist has a short cooldown :(

You cannot compare them... they are completely opposite in playstyle. And Doomfists one shot puts him out of position so he gets killed very easily. And roadhog was just unstoppable and his one shot took no risk whatsoever. Roadhog deserved the nerf, while if you nerf doomfist there will be literally no reason to play him. Not to mention Diomfist has very strong counters, while roadhog could take almost anyone on and be guaranteed a win.

as a doomfist player with 70 hours i agree completely. picking your fights is everything and letting them come to you or flanking is how you get the most out of doomfist.

Knight Wing only if it's fully charged and they hit a wall and they didn't dodge the punch after its really loud and relatively long charge up. It probably won't get nerfed, he's a difficult hero to play who can be punished so easily

My Tip for fellow Doomfists that I've seen and used myself and that using his E on the ground is much more reliable and useable then in the air, I also tend to use my UpperCut and E as "Get Out" Powers and use the Right Click and Primary Fire for attacking. But don't be afraid to use either for their other use to get in or out also.

Freedo man, I really like your vids, your advice, and your presentation style, so don't take this as criticism: I'm curious why you always say "often times"? I watch a ton of your vids (as I said, you and your team's channel are amazing) and you seem to say it pretty frequently. Is it a thing where you're from?
I don't think anyone should put "an advanced guide" as a video title this early after the hero release, as none of us fully understands Doomfist that well yet, not even the pros I think. Still a nice video to see someone able, telling their views on the hero!
His ult needs a strong buff. It's extremely easy to get out of. I think either they don't show were you're going to land to the enemy, or increase the AOE damage, or come down to smash quicker
Jiddle his ult already makes him invulnerable what further buffs do you want? Sure if you use it by itself its gonna suck ass, people can literally just walk out of the aoe. Combo it with earthshatter or graviton and thats a team kill waiting to happen. You can even use it as a failsafe escape or even a zoning ultimate, forcing enemies into open ground, out of cover, off of high ground, etc. It already has so much utility, it doesnt need a buff.

Ive been playing doomfist and trying to figure him out, his role and playstyle. I was on the right path but this cleared everything up for me and my first game after this was such an improvement :)
I love to use the ground slam, then uppercut, then rocket punch to annihilate tanks (with as many primary fires in there as I can get)
Do you plan on uploading a video on how to use Orisa effectively against Doomfist? I feel like Orisa is a solid counter but that timeing is really tricky.

Playing as Doomfist is great. Yes he's an offensive character, but his play style is best fit for defense. This video helped out in so many ways, thanks a lot 😄😁

A tip for playing doomfist, only use your slam ability only when you have rocket punch. The slam pulls opponents towards you so you can rocket punch them.

The Doomfist mirror is definitely about who overextended first.
He feels pretty strong against many heroes, obviously weak to Pharah, builders, and a well positioned sniper.
Only problem is I feel like he is very weak against tanks, because even with a full charge alt fire it only chunks for half, forcing him to commit E-shift or try to get out of the fight which D.Va and Winston can chase. I suppose he has to have some defined weaknesses.
Completely unrelated, as McCree today on Hollywood, i was standing on a building, fanned the hammer, and fell straight through the building and out of the world and died

I notice a lot of people complaining about Doomfist's fist. I'm sure once we know what all he's capable of, it won't be a problem as time goes on. However, if it does take a long time to adapt, I could see the cooldown being nerfed to 6 seconds from 4 so he doesn't have so often.
