Whenever I use my Coleman Performance series grill I put the two charcoal baskets together over the burner for five minutes. I have a chimney starter but then I have to dump and arrange the coals, with the baskets I just move them around where I want them.

Just my assumption, I believe the reason there is an electronic touch n go gas ignition is, so you don’t have to use the rapid chimney starter, no more picking up hot coals or dumping hot coals. You just use the Char-Baskets..

Hello, Where the tank can be refilled when you run out of gas?

It is just propane. I think you could probably get it filled at a propane place. They also sell them in 3 packs at Academy.

Do you use the chimney instead of the provided containers for any particular reason? Or just habit?

I like to spread the coals out on the coal rack in order to get even heat for burgers and such. There is nothing that cooks the coals to perfect grey/red ready than a chimney.

Long enough for the bottom coals to turn red, you can see them through the holes in the chimney. Once they are red the rest of the coals will start up. It takes about 15 minutes to cook the coals to perfection from lighting them till they are ready to spread. If I had to guess about 5 minutes should be long enough to get the bottom goals lit.
