very informative I've noticed a buldgeing cap in my power supply funny tho how it still works but I've ordered some more caps to replace it with anyways being a qualified electronic engineer Ive found 99% of the time the reason power supplies fail is due to a bad capacitor and they are relatively cheap to replace Im a big fan of fixing things rather than to throw it away and buy another it saves the planet thank you for the video

How did you do that you desolder components using a desoldering iron.i need to desolder the burn out mosfet transistor off the circuit boards from QW-MS305D dc power supply.

I broke the lil pillar thing preventing my star bit screwdriver from inserting all the way with a small flat head screwdriver then it fit perfectly. I almost never buy special tools if I can improvise with same or better results. Like cars, they want to get you to buy more crap to fix their crappy design flaws, and get around "security measures" I really expected more from *Microsoft* I mean come on. Good video man

Hi! Just subscribed to your channel. I've a question. My power brick shows orange indicator. When I turned on the Xbox 360 E, the power button on the Xbox turns solid red after just 1 second. I opened up the Xbox casing and saw the fan actually spinned for a second then stopped. Do you know if this issue could be caused by a faulty power brick? Thanks!

regarding your question: when we get consoles like this issues 90% is the power supply, other 10% could be a components going bad on main board. but based on experience 90% its your power unit.

What's the black thing with the yellow tape on it called been getting a high pitch sound from it then the Xbox turns off automatically
thats your transformer if the transformer is making noise then you may need to change it, because it will stop responding soon.
Hi, i am using XBOX 360 that has a power brick with two nozzles that connects to the Xbox 360 - Its not turning green from Orange - Do you have a video for this type of power brick as well ?
i sugest you open it up and check for blown capacitors and other components that could be blackedout, and send me a pic i will help you out, as of right now i dont have any video regarding your problem.

But I have another problem. Not a 300uF burnt capacitor.
I have a Xbox 360 slim. His power supply is orange. When I press the on button, the red light of the power supply turns on. I have only the +5V at the red wire. When I short the PS ON, I should find +12V at the yellow wire, but not. There is not +12V.
I measured and changed the 4 capacitors of 1500 uF near the output side of the board. (they was almost 1350 uF.
Apparently, there is no one burnt capacitor.
What should I do?

regarding your issue: can you send me an email attached with a photo of insides of your charger, send as many you can parts /closeup and different sides. let me take a look as every charger are a bit different.

Hello, nice video ! i have a problem in my 360, where i have orange light but when i connect to PSON (bleue and red), it turns to red light fault, any idea where to look at (i checked the secondary schotky and it is ok) Thanks.
thank you for the feedback and support, and regarding your issue you may have a bad gpu power regulator. the 1st test will be to test with another power supply and then if still same you will need a tech guy to look at the power regulators on the cpu /gpu. they are the most common issues we get in the store.
@@uFixTek dear u fixtek i coneccted the blue and red wire of xbox360 slim adapter to out put a 12 v for my routers and i put 1 k resesstor between blue and red. i got red light after a second. note that my adapter was working perfectly before i desided to cut the wire and make it a 12 v power supply any help bro ?
i know this is an old video but could you please show close up of underside of power supply circuit board so i can see the copper tracks and their destinations. House got struck by lightning and fried power supply. i have already bridged a few of the tracks but cant seem to find where one or two of them go

Hello, nice video. Mine is orange light and when i want to turn it on it becomes red light. I changed the capacitor 400v, changed the fuse and nothing. Any other idea ? I have 315vdc at the main capacitor but nothing in the secondary... Thanks.

Having the same problem, I have the 5V (orange light), but when I connect and turn on the Xbox, do not have the 12V, and the red light turns on.

My xbox 360 plug the fan goes but the light won't turn on so if you could help that would be great
you talking about your PSU? if so , if your PSU fan turns on but not your light you do have a different situation, i recommend you to take it to a electronic repair shop. if you dont know the components you can get your self zapped :P
I have a question what number is component is the yellow varistor
🫠Regarding your question, 1st of if you going to replace the varistor i would recommend 1st measure the out put of the wall (home) as depending the city and place the voltage of the homes can be anywhere from 110v- 125v AC, once you know the home voltage then get the correct varistor, because the varistors that they include in the chargers are rated mostly for 140v and that is not good because the charger will burn if a surge happens. so i would recommend to get any varistor from 120-130v . i have opened many power supply and they always use a different model numbers. you can remove the varistor and test your charger and see if it is working.
i will open one tomorrow and let you know the model.

you must change all the blown resistors 1st then capacitors else the capacitor will blow out again

@@cyprezz_ he did a cowboy hack and made a shoddy fuse because he didnt have a replacement. If you have a working one just tke it off the working board and and place it where you took off the burnt out one.

yes you can and its a good idea to do it before start working, it will make a loud noise, but it will be fine

regarding your question: you will get low voltage around 3.3v or 5.5v the reason is that hte voltage wont be present until the motherboard has to send the signal for the charger to activate the 12v.

regarding your question: when that happens its because the transistors are bad ( the one screwed to the aluminum plates) or the main transformer its bad, i recommend you to not play with those they are high voltage and its cheaper to get a good technician to look at it.

chanti chiru its not a over heating problem, the thing is that when the fan starts failing or james with dust stops rotating well so clean nicely the fan, and you will be fine.

i dont recommend you to do that, just because you can send the dust into fan and jam that fan, therefore making worst.

@@uFixTek thank you for your reply. I have cleaned the fan that is located in the power supply. (Not the fan in the console) .. no I haven't cleaned the Xbox 360 console.
i would highly recommend to repaste or at least clean up the heatsink on the console, if it over heats it will shutdown and a red light on charger will appear, go a head and clean it and test and let me know. i have send you the links to repasting and cleaning.

Leopoldo Gonzalez if you cant see any blowout components with your eyes, you need to get yourself a voltímetro. And you need to know electronics at the component level to be able to test. it could, there is no harm in opening and checking to make sure no capacitors are inflated and clean the fan that can cause the orange color too.
