Matt Sallee is the bass. He has been their bass since 2017. He replaced Avi Kaplan.

Hey Big Papa, great to see you again! Not sure if you seen that PTX did a live version of "Kiss from a Rose" and of course I've seen them performed live back in December 11th here in Greenville, SC. It was an awesome show, they actually sound better live than their videos.

They created a masterpiece, saddest moment is that their label didn’t put this up for a Grammy nomination, because they would’ve won. Mitch is absolute perfection! So are the others, but he has an extra umpf.

I don’t disagree, but to be fair the whole album was nominated.

@@jcs1025To be REALLY fair, Scott pointed out before the Grammys this year that holiday albums are highly unlikely to win in general album categories. Basically, "Evergreen" had ONE Grammy-worthy song on it - "The Prayer" - and expecting one song to put an entire album over the top is unrealistic, especially when it's a holiday album in the category Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Somebody at RCA has been showing extremely bad judgment; they did it two years in a row; and it has cost Pentatonix at least one Grammy.

It's a masterpiece, truly! The choice to put Mitch in Celine's part in the beginning was last minute. It was originally going to be Kirstie, but Scott came up with the brilliant suggestions to switch the roles and I think it worked even better. If you take some time to watch their 20 minute documentary of The Recording of Evergreen, you'll see how they work with their arranger Ben Bram, how they record, how meticulous they are and how they make percussion...all that. It also shows Scott making the suggestion to switch Mitch and Kirstie's roles.

Isn't that a gorgeous suit Scott is wearing? Do you notice that he ISN'T wearing a scarf, or gloves? That's because they aren't actually in a snowy forest; this was filmed indoors, on one of the most beautiful sets I've ever seen.
Either Mitch or Kirstin could have sung the lead; they have much the same range and on occasion they sound very much alike. But Kirstin's real forte is belting out those high notes and Mitch's is ethereal (some would say angelic) vocals, which made Mitch the better choice to lead in "The Prayer."
Wouldn't you know that Scott would be the best choice for Andrea Bocelli's part, when Scott is the member of Pentatonix most likely to forget the lyrics (according to everyone in Pentatonix, including Scott)? No, he doesn't speak Italian; he had to learn this by rote, and he worked very hard to get the pronunciation right. According to people who do speak Italian he succeeded.

👉👉You've done SEVERAL reactions with Matt as the bass. Matt replaced Avi in late 2017. Check your playlist.
And you are 💯% CORRECT, PENTATONIX are A capella ROYALTY.
I'm an OG fan but I also saw the other 2 groups in their beginnings.
PENTATONIX and all the members solo side projects is ALL I NEED!

What do you mean you don’t know what to say? You said it perfectly, “Sonic Joy.” I am always amazed at each new song that comes from this talented group, either all together, on their own or in some combination of members. I’ll be back with recommendations after I look at your playlist. Well done, I enjoyed your reaction very much! Peace … (Adding) This could be way long, but … check out the VEVO Live session of Kiss From a Rose for one of the group’s latest and greatest; on Kevin Olusola’s channel, his cover of Down to appreciate the many, many talents of PTX’s beatboxer; on the Superfruit channel, a medley of songs from Frozen with Scott, Mitch and Kirstie and be sure to stay for the bloopers at the end (it’s three slightly inebriated longtime friends having a blast); on Scott Hoying’s channel, his original song Mars, either the original or the choir version; and, back to a group effort, their mini-doc Recording Evergreen, an account of them rehearsing and recording a recent-ish Christmas album, the one that includes The Prayer in fact. Hope this isn’t too much. I was inspired by your enthusiasm!

Even after watching and loving PTX since 2011, it never gets old. It’s amazing what they can do. Their live performances are so good. Definitely worth checking them out. The early days on Sing Off really show their promise too. They are so talented and work really hard to create new content and do some amazing covers.

The gentleman on the right is Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable), and yes; you've seen and heard him before, in everything you've watched from Pentatonix that's come out since he joined in 2018. He's in "Sound of Silence," their latest recording of "O Holy Night," "Pure Imagination/Christmas Time Is Here," "Mad World," and "Creep." Matt is the bass who replaced Avi after he left in 2017.

This is my all time Celine Dion favorite song. Her singing it with Andrea Bocelli really sets the bar for anyone else who covers it. She also does an amazing rendition with Josh Groban. I was very skeptical when I saw this and I was surprised at how good it was. I will listen to both versions on repeat because both are so good. I love when Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban sing in Italian through out the entire song and I kind of wish Scott sang it that way as well but I'm still really pulled in by PTX's version because the small part that Scott does sing is amazing.

The guy on the right is Matt Sallee. As someone has already posted, he became the bass singer in 2017 when Avi Kaplan left the band. Looking at your playlist, you have seen him in several of your PTX reactions. If you want to know who you'll get on their videos, anything released before October 1, 2017 will have Avi, anything after will be Matt. Great reaction!
