Okay, so...they likely record in a studio and then when they get to the video they might try to sing live but that is not the same thing as recording in the studio. Is that lip syncing?
@@cynthiacharpentier662 not really because they are singing. You can see that in their throat movements. And technically they are singing, just not at 100%. Lip syncing is when you move your mouth but don't make sound. Sometimes they don't even move their tongues. Watch closely at the next music awards show except the country singers. Very few country singers lip sync.

Honey, you had me laughing and talking to the screen, trying to explain to you the vocal wonder that is Mitch Grassi. Some of his history is that he was bullied at school because of his voice, which was very painful for him, as you can imagine. He has very short vocal cords for a guy, and it gives him that high, thin voice. But when Mitch sings, it's like heaven itself. So great that he's getting the last laugh! Looking forward to sharing more Pentatonix with you. Don't get discouraged if they block you. Put some printing over the video or cover it with a thin filter and it usually gets through. React to Pentatonix, and the Pentaholics will be here!

Counter Tenor is basically a male Soprano. He hits notes as a Counter Tenor that I, as a 2nd Soprano (or the lower Soprano voice), have to work to hit. Although that mostly has to do with the fact that I don't use my voice as much as I used to, and if you don't use it, you lose it.
And what is called a Counter Tenor now used to be called a castrato. They had to castrate boys before they hit puberty, so their voices didn't drop (a long time ago) to get the vocals to hit the notes that Mitch can hit. Or they could also use children, but generally speaking they did not.

They dropped this at a very weird time for a Grammy which was actually BETWEEN the 1st round of voting for nominees and the 2nd round for the 2022 Grammy's. Grammy wise the timing just seems really odd. Unless they get a massive write in for the 2nd round, it may wait for another year to even be considered. It made no sense...

They DO lip sync in the official videos - to themselves doing the song - normally in ONE TAKE in the studio. They also sound EXACTLY the same LIVE on stage.

Wow! You really don’t get it! Mitch is a counter-tenor and has one of the most beautiful voices in the world. A talent and voice like his comes along maybe once in a generation, or a lifetime. When he sings he always takes my breath away. He also sounds mighty fine when he sings lower in his ‘natural’ (or more masculine voice). In my book, and in my ears he does no wrong. He is my all-time favorite singer. And EVERYONE in Pentatonix has world-class voices. You’ve just heard the best of the best. If you want to hear him sing a bit lower - and enjoy his awesome vocal range and power, listen to the group sing “Amazing Grace”.

Mitch is a contra-tenor with an amazing range, Scott is a baritone with an equally amazing range, Kevin is the beatboxer who is also a singer, cellist, and saxophonist, Matt is a performance trained bass, Kirstin is an amazing mezzo-soprano who can be an alto or a soprano. Go to their TH-cam page and pick any of their songs. You will be impressed at the variety of performance styles.
NO LIP-SYNCING. Yup, that's our Mitch Grassi, one of the most beautiful and unusual voices today. Yes, this part of this song was most famously sung by Celine Dion, and he goes even higher in some places. If you want to hear his mid-range, which is more like a (very talented) regular tenor, check out their cover of Amazing Grace. They all have beautiful voices, large ranges, and Kevin Olusola is a super-talented beatboxer. He also sings tenor (you can see him singing in this song sometimes when he's not making beats). You just heard "The Wall of Sound" Pentatonix is famous for. No, as you have seen in many of the other comments, it is really Mitch. Scott (blond guy in the middle) is singing Italian. He is a Baritone, but has an amazing range. He will cover for the Bass when Matt or Avi (previous member) has the lead. Kirstie (rhymes with Thirsty) is a Soprano, but has a rich lower range. Kevin (beatboxer) also plays cello, is a tenor and also beatboxes while playing cello. Matt is the Bass, but also has an amazing range. This is an amazing group. You will be so happy to start down the Pentatonix rabbit hole. Pentatonix fans are called Pentatholics for a reason.

You are being blessed by the gorgeous, angelic voice of niche Roxy who sings tenor/soprano he has got a multi octave range that puts most people to shame. His voice and range I believe goes higher than and lower than Kirstie‘s who is the female in the group. To be sure, Mitch Grassi is the young man singing, no lip singing at all, that is his magnificent gift from God! Scott is the blonde in the group. He is primarily baritone but also has a magnificent range that is the baritone/base and Kevin is just the absolute genius doing mostly beatbox. I’ve been following them for 10 years since they won a contest on TV and they just are absolutely incredible and out of every fantastic thing they have ever done you are being introduced to them By watching my very favorite that they have ever done. This is the next Grammy I promise you.

In this video we had Scott Hoying (baritone - the blonde guy that sang in Italian), Mitch Grassi (countertenor - no, you weren't tripping, that's his voice), Kirstin "Kirstie" Maldonado (mezzo-soprano - she has a LOT of power when she gets going), Kevin "K.O." Olusola (vocal percussion and tenor - high top), and Matt Sallee (bass - in the white blazer and green checked pants). Prior to 2017, the band's bass was Avi Kaplan: you'll see him in earlier videos. He left amicably in 2016 for personal reasons, and helped them find Matt Sallee to take over his spot. There's a heartbreaking video for their cover of Robyn's "Dancing on My Own", after Avi left and before Matt joined, where Kevin plays the cello to fill in Avi's part.

Everyone gets a verse in "Amazing Grace", "Hallelujah", "Sound of Silence", "Come Along", "Mary, Did You Know?", their "Butter x Dynamite" BTS mashup... to be honest, I don't think they've ever done anything BAD. Pickle juice and or bananas might help with Charlie horses. ? Just a little straight pickle juice. Or if you're not getting enough potassium the bananas might help. I've woken up to them before. All I'll say is OWW. Hope it helps if anyone tries it! ❤
