I love everything you did you make it very simple to understand. A lot of times I watch a teaching channel and it’s confusing so I really appreciate your methods. Thank you again.😊
My sewing friend sent this to me today. I like it. I can see doing this because, though I don't care a lot for crumb quilt, I like order. So, your controlled chaos is perfect for me simply because of the stars. Thanks.
I LOVE your quilt ideas! And I love string quilts! I’ve made one for my guest bed but I want to make another one and what a nice idea that makes such a pretty quilt! However that will be after I finish my cathedral windows quilt I’ve started after watching your video 😍 I’m loving it it’s so pretty! I did make a change though instead of connecting squares with a zigzag I’m using just a straight stitch on the inside to sew them together which eliminates me having to stitch by hand the 4 points that meet in the middle😉 I’m also working on a sewing machine cover for one of the new machines I purchased that came without a hard or plastic cover! It’s only a backup machine for my backup 😂 but I wanted a cover for it which is turning out so lovely. Keep up the good work! I’m loving it!🥰
Your teaching is really awesome. So clear and exact. I love this star. I'm making a star quilt. Can't wait to get to this one! Its gonna be awhile. Thank you Tracey!!
This is a great scrap star block. I'm going to make a few. Have to say....yes, I have sewn from the center point of a star to make sure the seams match perfectly, and then flip it around to go the other direction. It works! Happy Mothers Day 2022 (the date I'm watching this video) to you Tracy!...God bless you.
You are my quilting queen. You have such wonderful clear instructions and practical ideas. Now I can keep all my scraps and still quilt. Thank you so much for your videos. 🎉
I never thought I would want to crumb quilt, but I am inspired now. I think I will start putting smaller leftover fabric together a little at a time. I absolutely LOVE that star block. April
I've used that method of starting in the middle of the block to line up the center seams on many occasions. Have done it for years and it works for me every time. Glad to see someone else has found this to be helpful as well!
love this scrappy star. I sew quilt tops when I'm not longarming. that's why I have so many started. well here goes another start up quilt top. lol thank you a lot though!!!
I’ve been wanting to try crumb quilting, and love the idea of a star. Thank you for the clear instructions. I’ve learned to quilt by watching TH-cam videos!
I loved that lamb fabric you used. Low and behold, yesterday I went to Hobby Lobby and there in the clearance fabric was a 1.25 remnant for $3...I love happy finds!!!
Really cool quilt design. I have OCD and I was thinking a while back, why don't people color code their fabric when making scrap quilts. It would be so pleasing to the eye. 👁️ I do it and I do it with my thread and bindings...lol it makes me crazy not to. I organize my fabric by type and color code within that type...lol I know I'm such a freak. But here u are and it is very pleasing to the eye I must say. I love how u sewed all the scraps together in each color scheme. I didn't think to do it that way. Really awesome. 👍
You know that feeling you get internally when you’re really excited about something and you feel it bubbling up? Yeah, that happened to me when viewing this video! You’re doing exactly what I have been aiming for. TY for the details. I can’t wait to get back to my sewing table.
Thank you for this great tutorial. You are so easy to watch with your clear diction and easy to follow steps. I'm looking forward to watching more of you & your super channel
Such a lovely block. Especially its made from scraps! I have never made a crumb quilt before but this has inspired me to make a star 🌟 quilt. I have started pressing my scraps and will put them into colours then put those together, cut them out and hey presto one beautiful quilt top. Many many, many thanks. 😊
I have recently become enamored with crumb quilting but wasn't sure where I wanted to go with the created pieces. The colored scrappy stars are beautiful! This is definitely on the "must do" list! Thank you!
(This is Linda, Mike’s wife) I love the color you use for all your quilt blocks. You have such a good eye for color. I didn’t see one, but do you have a video on how you choose the right colors and texture designs for your blocks?
Thank you for your kind words LInda💛 I don't have a video on fabric choices yet. I sort of go with what "looks right" to my eye....not sure if I could teach that...but I will definitely think on it...thank you for the idea Linda🌸
Thanks so much for this tutorials l especially liked the lack of music and time wasting showing us and us having to listen to the machine 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. I’m going to try this scrappy quilt method. It’s brilliant 🥰 enjoy your day
I love this, a true scrappy! Beautiful. I love taking a day and just sew my scraps into fabric. Not in the same colors, so my stars will be really mixed. White isn’t in my fabric very often but it’s going to be awesome. Thank you.
I love yhis block! Thank you so much for the tutorial! BTW, I have always sewn my points from the middle out. I'm a self-taught quilter so I didn't ever learn not to. Whether it's right or wrong it works for me. Take care and keep up the great videos!
Anita Grossman Solomon uses the technique of starting in the middle to sew blocks together where you want that center seam perfect. It’s a great technique!
Hello there, I really liked this idea of using your left over fabrics to make the crumb blocks, regarding piecing the last seam starting from the center I have seen this done before by Editha Sitar from Laundry Basket Quilts, so it works great.
Thanks for a great and easy to understand tutorial!! Love your block!! What a fun way to use scraps that we all either love or hate lol I am one that sews like you. I go from the middle out to ensure my seams to match. I just don't tell no one lol Happy Quilting!
Great tutorial and such a fun quilt and wonderful way to use up scraps. In particularly when you came in close, there are fabric designs that made this even more interesting.
Nice, Tracy! I like that you took a common quilt block project and put you different spin on it. I like all the different shades of the same color families. Very, very cool! Can't wait to see what you come up with next time!!! 👍
Thank you, for this video. I still have lots of scraps; and, I have never thought of sewing my scraps together to their like colors only. This is a wonderful idea. That star block you made is beautiful, and one of a kind. When I am sewing my scraps together, I forget about a lot of things and feel at ease. It really is odd how I don't remember some of the scraps I am sewing together from my own stash. Plase stay safe.
Beautiful! Thanks for the great instructions. I've been wanting to try crumb quilting and your instructions give me the inspiration to start. Thank you.
I've wanted to do crumb blocks, but my brain tries to organize the chaos in everything. So I have a hard time with anything scrappy. So this block is brilliant for me. Thank you!
this is beautiful. lovely idea. im not a big crumb quilter but i think this technique would be great for a large baby quilt star like someone else mentioned. thank you for sharing your design ❤️
Edyta Sitar, of Laundry Basket quilts, uses the same method joining her mid sections of her eight pointed stars except she starts about an inch out from the center. Works well.
These blocks look like so much fun--I'm going to put on my to-do list for the new year. Always have so many scraps and I already organize them by color, so this will be perfect. Thank you for sharing! Always love watching your videos.
Hi Tracy. This is such a beautiful quilt block. Love the rainbow stars! Will you be doing a tutorial in the future on an entire quilt using these quilt blocks? Would love to see one!
*_Hi Dori...well I'm thinking about it...I have alot of star rainbow blocks that are slightly dif but have the same rainbow colors. It's going to be a gift for someone...not sure how I'm actually going to do it yet though😬🤔_*
@@TheSewingChannel Hi again, Tracy. I just re-watched this video and wonder where you got all your same color and value fabric pieces to make the scrappy blocks. At some point I'd like to make this quilt but don't have enough scrap fabrics to do so (yet). Any suggestions/info would be very grateful! Thanks!!!

Enjoying the replay ❤
Stunning string star quilt. Thank you for sharing.
I made my husband a scrappy quilt. It is my favorite quilt out of the 70 or so I have made.
I have started at the centre to make sure the middle meets up so it’s not just you 😊
Good to know! Thank you🌸
My sewing friend sent this to me today. I like it. I can see doing this because, though I don't care a lot for crumb quilt, I like order. So, your controlled chaos is perfect for me simply because of the stars. Thanks.
Awesome!🌈👍🏼
This is really cool...I have lots of 4.5 “ square crumb quilt squares but they’re not at all the same color. Next time, I’ll try organizing chaos.
I agree with you about the clapper.

Oh yes...this star is stunning...it's one of my most favorite blocks that I've ever made❤️
Great tip . Starting in the middle I would never thought of that.
