And that beat on the second track is mind-blowing. His groove and technique are just amazing. This is lovely, groovy, funky music. Music at its best, really. Enjoy. Why does KEXP (like BBC Six Music ) work on so many different multiple levels? Because there is such a wide variety of talented musicians that they introduce us humble listeners to. So many artists we would never have discovered on most mainstream musical channels. Here is another case in point: a talented group of musicians performing truly beautiful and chilled sounds. I listen to KRCL out of Salt Lake City. It’s non-commercial radio with a lot of fantastic people behind it. Same thing for lots of independent radio stations. !! Support your local independent radio station :-)

I met Yussef at a small clinic he put on, it was great, he made every single person in the room play drums. He was also very humble and down-to-earth. Afterwards he spent time talking to pretty much everyone individually.
It's pretty much a given for guys like these to have a beautiful rapport with the fans. When I used to do gigs it immediately became apparent to have a massive devotion and level of selflessness
They are all fantastic musicians but man Rocco is going for new heights. Drums and bass are complement each other perfectly, gj on the sound engineering!

Saw them at the MTL Jazz fest on Canada Day and it was simply put the best live show i've seen period. Awesome band, great tracks, great energy and impressive as hell! Been following Yussef for 5+ years and couldn't wait to see him live. Well worth it !

jungle smells might be going a bit over the top, but I do agree this is a weird reduction of jazz. I love everything Yussef Dayes and his gang makes, but in regards to true forward thinking jazz in the harmonic sense this is probably not it, I would look into Brad Meldhau's Mehliana for that.
@@anthonyfox477 I looked up the bass he is using, it's an active bass but i'm not sure that's the only reason the sound is that good. The bass he is using is a Yamaha BB1100S, for amp I have no idea. Edit: I did some digging, he us using a Aguilar amp+cab, unsure which model/-s, but i think the subby part comes from the active pickups in the bass. Edit2: I believe he is using a Aguilar DB751 Amp+Aguilar DB851 Bass Cab.
Yussef on drums, Malik on the sax, Elijah on the keys, Rocco on the bass and Alexander on the percussion; thats a huge monster alignment 🙏🏼
