    Have an adult autistic son whose life revolves around music. Whenever he is out of sorts and rolling with his dad, I usually play some Monk or Eric Dolphy; the dissonance acts as a calming mechanism. Played this album on the way to the gym with him this morning. As soon as the music started he began his bouncing, then started his rapping and happy gesticulations, feeling and embracing the music. Therapy of the highest order. Merci beaucoup Brother Dayes!

    This album is the past, present, and future at once. I got in the first two minutes of the first track and decided I had to listen on a better system than my laptop. This is unreal. This was the perfect soundtrack to cleaning and organizing my artist studio while fueling the drive of the jazz singer that has been bored with music as of late. Thank you for this offereing. The ancestors are truly elated and you should be proud. This jazz auntie has danced, cried, sobbed, undulated, winded, and pranced to this masterpiece. Your name will be among the greats one day. I proclaim it on your behalf as an elder. Congrats!

The clarity that I needed revealed itself to me the following morning. This is one of the best albums I have listened to from beginning to end since John Coltrane's A Love Supreme. May everyone reading this and listening to this album be blessed with excellent health and wealth. Bless

    The greatest shame of black music is the fact that since the advent of rap and hip hop people stopped played REAL instruments and mainly stole other people's music now it seems that things are changin . It would be great to give the recognition that it deserve to DISCO-FUNK that it is a genre that like no other was (and is) made of immense soulful vocalists immense musicians great danceability using real musicians and real instruments in order to do so . It is still the only real modern dance music.

    • @jbo8540
      @jbo8540 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you listen to white radio you'll hear mostly synths and samples too. It's a result of technology and a corporate recording industry that wants to maximize profits. Why pay for a full studio and session musicians when you can buy a synthesized beat from some kid in his bedroom? If that's all you play, the people won't even know what they're missing after a while.

    • @Kouros-t6d
      @Kouros-t6d ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jbo8540 Of course but as Marsalis stated black people have betrayed the symbol of black music culture : the drums .
      Whites and Asians invented synthesized music (kraftwerk synth pop bands etc.) and blacks rather than dislike this souless music have embraced it and put on a level superior of REAL black music...this is a shame. Of course the majority of nowadays "music" is temporary crap except Bruno Mars (and similar bands) that still play real black disco-funk music. Yussef Dayes and the nu fusion movement are also rediscover the essence of black music that is made of soul and emotion .

      @@Kouros-t6d "Whites and Asians invented synthesized music (kraftwerk synth pop bands etc.) and blacks rather than dislike this souless music have embraced it and put on a level superior of REAL black music"
      that's not in favor, my friend.
      many black artists pioneered the use of synths, people like herbie hancock, weather report, earth wind and fire, the isley brothers, miles davis, and MJ made extensive use of synths and other electronic instruments.
      the "soul" of music does not come from the instruments used, but from the composers who wrote it, and the musicians that play it. instruments, electronic or otherwise, are just tools. you can make music with heart and emotion behind it with anything that can make a sound.
      tl:dr, it's people who put the soul in music, not instruments.

    Was curious, and hooked up this album as I'm a Tom Misch fan. WASN'T disappointed. Yussef, you stand alongside luminaries like Alfa Mist and Kamasi Washington as one of the visionaries of Neo-Jazz. Lookin' forward to more helpings... 😁👌🏻

    My cats are loving this album… hanging out with them on the living room floor, watching them love their ears to catch the best, deepest bass lines, giving them some catnip every once and a while…this is bliss! Thank you❤

    First of all, the afro on this cover is EVERYTHING. Second, I am a therapist and I love that I can play this album in the school setting without having to worry about inappropriate language or subject matter, AND there is the added benefit of being so calming, but not in the way that would put you to sleep. Thank you for sharing your gift!
