Be sure to like this video if you enjoyed it, and let me know if you plan on making some DIY boxer shorts!
I waisted 2 hours by myself thank you for being there and walk me thru it, it was so mush easier when you went thru it
I just ordered my first sewing machine and couldn’t find anyone giving free tutorials where you don’t need a pattern and then I found your channel I literally love your videos so much and I got so much knowledge from it. I just made the pattern for shorts and I am really excited to sew them. Thank you so much for your videos!!!❤️❤️
i love your videos! you are so good at explaining the process,, please don’t stop doing what you’re doing (:
Matching the plaid pattern in the front is always a challenge. There are great tutorials out there to accomplish it.
using ur clothes to make a draft is GENIUS, miss thing u just saved me several trips to staples😭
Thank you so much for this. I just got my sewing machine today and I am a total newbie. I wish you could provide the pattern for this great pajama shorts. Again , thank you for sharing your talent.
Nothing like comfy cotton shorts in summer. And they're great project for upcycling, as one doesn't need a lot of fabric. I've made some cute little sets out of thrifted men's shirts - they're often really good quality, compared with typical fast fashion.
For people with fluctuating weight I would recommend doing the tunnel method for the elastic, though. It's a little more fiddly maybe, but you can shorten or lengthen/exchange the elastic, if your belly circumference changes significantly.
Yes! Thrift store men's shirts, brilliant!
This helped really well with my first big sewing project! Had to redo it a couple of times, but I got it down
These look perfect for a baby/postpartum summer short!
I plan on making something similar ;) Thanks for sharing this Jessica your shorts came out very cute
I’d love to see a vid of your desk/sewing area setup? Did you use the ikea countertop hack?
Watched along and made my own thank you
That makes me so happy!
I just made my first pair of shorts 🥳
I could actually do this! Might try with a thrifted men's shirt (which i have too many of! )
I'd be interested in a skort tutorial. Like s tennis skirt kind of.
Looks perfect!
Thank you!
how much fabric would you recommend buying?
for anyone wondering i got 1 metre of a fabric that was 112cm wide and I had more than enough !! also thank you for this tutorial I am so happy with my shorts
Aw yay! I’m so glad your shorts turned out great! ♥️ always better to have more fabric than needed haha
Don't worry you still look good without makeup. Speaking as a man can you show how to make flies in the boxer shorts too? Your shorts look very good and comfortable.
Your chanel is very very interesting ...
Your way very simple and nice
Could you pls show easy boho summer dress?
Something nice and flattering,easy...
Thank you,anyway...
I don't know what I am doing wrong but I followed everything and I cannot fit in the shorts and the elastic isn't... elastic lol I have ripped the elastic part 3 times now and since I am about to cry I will stop here.
I have the exact same issue. The way the elastic is attached makes the stretch go away for me
@@aliceboertjens377 yup it wouldn't ruffle, and even if it did, because the waist measurements when drafting the pattern were taken when the elastic was ruffled on my original shorts, the waist is tiny to the point I can't even fit in it.
This is not beginner friendly, that or I am stupid lol
I think the problem with following this particular tutorial is that you could be using a knit pair of shorts to copy from. That means the original fabric has a bunch of stretch in it making it possible for you to pull it over your hips. If you then copy a pattern from it then use a woven fabric, it would end up too small.
Follow this to Take elastic measurements "for full waistband " : waist length divide by 3 = say "x" double x
For eg : if your waist measurement is 32
Then divide it by 4 which equals to 8 add 3 which equals to 11 double it which equals to 22 hence 22 should be your elastic band length . I hope you find this helpful✨
@@mimoleta you had to stretch the elastic of the original shorts when creating the pattern and traced it while it was stretched
Omg yes, thank you!! I refuse to spend $150+ on summer cotton sets ($60 on the shorts alone) that are THIS easy to make ✨ I'd love to see a matching oversized button down to go with:)
Smart
Cant wait!
I dont have overlocker.?
You don’t need one! Zig zagging the edges, pinking shears, or an overcast stitch works too!
@@JessicaShaw thank you 🩵🩵
@@SQUAD_felled seams or french seams are my preferred for trousers like these, especially the felled one. Really improves the finish on the outside, and for me eliminates the annoying feeling of the seam rubbing my leg on the inside
@@IronWangCreates I agree with you , thank you for replying ☺️😌
Hi Jess. What pattern paper do you use? Thanks a lot. Margaret 😀
