Until now, once a wire came through the fabric it was nothing but binable. I tried sewing it up before but that wire kept coming through anyway. Now if it happens I can try this cross over stitching. 👍
Oh My GOSH!!!! Thank you for this fantastic video. I have two $250+ bras that I ordered online given the size chart. I wore them before realizing that they didn't do the job quite like I'm used to. They are too big and I couldn't find a sewist who knew how to fix them. I couldn't bear to throw them out. Now I can enjoy them thanks to your video. You are the best!
Sorry, but the cross stitching of the hole that the underwire made will not be sufficient for very long in keeping the wire in place. The tip of the underwire wears through the stitching in a very short time. Speaking from experience in repairs of mine over the years.
I just sewed a popped out underwire last night before your video came into my feed! Your way is so much easier than all the stitches I used. I had previously hand sewn it only for the wire to reappear again. I love the idea of moving the straps in the back. When you are plus size, it's cheaper to buy a smaller band size and use the hook insert sometimes than to buy the proper band size but then the straps want to fall. Glad you fell into my feed, thank you for the tips!
Those fixes would cause bulky three layer ridges against your body and would be very uncomfortable. You would have to do them on a sewing machine and cut off the excess material to get them to lay flat and not dig into you. The underwire thing is a good idea f it works, but I have tried sewing it on a sewing machine and even adding it over with another layer of soft material to reinforce the place where the wires came through, but on has still poked through that! I think they should make the wires with more blunt ends and double thickness fabric over the ends when they are made.
You have a phenomenal voice! I could listen to you talk about the life cycle of a fruit fly, and find it fascinating. Thank you for this video and others.

I worked at a Walmart several years ago and bra extenders seemed to be popular. The one I worked at, they could be found in two places. One was by the bras and the other place was in the craft department mixed in with the sewing notions. I wouldn't just tell the customer where to look, I would actually walk them to the location.
@@retrochic1965 last time I went bra shopping (Walmart indeed!), the extenders were my saving grace. I tried and tried bras till I almost cried with tiredness and frustration. Nothing fit properly - either the cups fit and the band was too short, or the band fit and the cups didn't. Thankfully, I remembered the extenders, got the bras with the fitting cups plus matching extenders, and called it a day. Finally. 🥴✌️👍
❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks! You just saved me a bunch of money. I bought some bras that did not fit well. Since I had removed tags, etc., I was sure I couldn’t return them. Fortunately I kept them around. Now I know how I can make them fit! BTW, you have such a pleasant voice!😊

I'm really curious how this affects the feel of how they lay. For example the racerback solution, the way the strap twists at the temporary bow would annoy me, but the permanent solution would be fine sensory-wise. I really can't imagine how the bunching inside from any of the ladder stitches would feel. Might just have to try them myself to find out!
@@blaireshoe8738 I've done the fix on the side of the cup a few times and found that, on the more padded or moulded bras, it could be a bit annoying. That said, the more stitches you use the less you feel it because the stitches compress the lumps. I first tried use6-7 stitches and it was OK but a bit annoying so I ripped it out and redid with 12-15 stitches and I could not feel it!
@@blaireshoe8738 I did the ladder stich on the band of my bra, but in the opposite side, aka I put the bunching fabric outside and then sew it again to keep it flat. Thanks for detailed video! However, I strongly disagree with fixing last issue of failing straps on the back. It seems easier to just cut and attach with three stitches there, but it will add 2 more problems: the cups on the front will rotate and show some gaping, since the angle of the strap is changed; on bigger cup sizes the band will dig in the back, since those "peaks" that was tucked in is used to smooth and distribute tension on the back. If bra is bigger then A or B cup it will be a lot easier to reattach strap on the front closer and spend some time dealing with lace and tucking a small triangle of cup in (it's thinniest near the strap) then trying to fix both issues with fit on back and front. If reattaching strap on the front is not an option due to design, a piece of lace, ribbon or elastic can be sewn to to both cup and strap on the front, forming a triangle, making a cup "higher" and strap won't fall either.
@@LOioma it can def cause these problems if you push them too far, but if they are already too wideset and you move them in just right, it doesn't cause a problem. I've done it before. & really, every bra is different.
