- SSF2 and Smash Bros Crusade are two of the greatest and most popular pixel art Smash Bros fan games out there. Both of them share a lot of characters and do them a bit differently, I want to see who does it better. Join me as we look at the Smash 64 characters.

What makes SSF2 Link interesting is that if you throw a bomb and then shoot at it with an arrow it becomes a bomb arrow.
Or you can just shoot with the bomb still in your hand.

@@Frost-tw4qd The ssf2 bomb arrow doesn't as much depth to link, ssf2 link is essentially smash 4 link with melee down tilt, and super good stats, ssf2 link is the best in all smashes even ultimate, his stats are way too good, high damage and frame data? I love ssf2 link for how clean he is, although for moveset creativity it's a lazy design

The new 9.5(demo) of Crusade really feels like they're taking it to an entire new level and I am very excited to see the full version out. Now, the only thing missing for Crusade to burst out and expand to new places is...a working online mode.

Since version 0.9.3 Lucas was Nerfed a loooot i'm not excited for new version because he was nerfed tho in v0.9.4 so it will be all the same for future versions. So i use Lucas's v0.9.2 Data fighter file.

Also the thing about changing up a character is that if you change a character too much, it’ll alienate a player who came from the og smash and basically force them into playing a new character(IE crusade ganondorf or little mac(who actually came first)) then they made a ultimate little for crusade little Mac for those who liked playing ultimate little Mac
I mean, how else are you going to capture an audience when they can just play normal smash, with new movesets to the old characters, it gives an incentive to play and master new versions of the characters

@@riokshutt2115 anyone who can play crusade can play smash 64 or ssf2, crusade should be creative, because in a flash game with OG movesets ,ssf2 is cleaner then crusade
I think the list could have benefitted from a "tie" category.
These cases were it's a tossup or pretty close could be considered tie, so the points for each game would reflect characters that were definite wins and make them more valuable.
I love how the announcers sound side-by-side, with SSF2 sounding a little odd but pretty formal and serious, and Crusade just sounding like the developer opened up Audacity and just said the name of the character in a normal speaking tone

The Crusade FS for Captain Falcon is a reference to the anime where he does his final Falcon Punch
Crusade's visuals is just too much of a hodgepodge for me to really enjoy it. SSF2 has a clear art direction and polish that Crusade sorely lacks
Here is a few quicks things that got changed(since version 0.9.5 demo came out)
Mario has down b, originally from Super Mario Galaxy. It has more vertical knockback, but it's a worse recovery option.
Dk hasa barrel projectile for side b and a blast barrel for up b
Yoshi has new voice clips
Kirby has a new dash attack using his Hammer ability and Buring is his side b
Pikachu use voice clips from Pokken Tournament
thanks to the power of mods, it is possible to make kirby feel like his vanilla serl, stealing the actual opponent’s ability
We NEED a sequel with the rest of the roster! You make it so interesting!

I thought this video would discuss combo game and how effective certain moves are in neutral, approaching options, etc. I guess this wasn't that type of video though. Still it was cool that we got to see both games side by side, I had never played crusade.

Super Smash Flash carried so many childhoods, including my own. I can't believe that over 6 years later, I'm seeing a video about it. Makes me quite nostalgic, not just for this game, but every game we lost to the death of Adobe Flash Player. I don't even have my own PC anymore to download third-party software and relive this legendary experience.

One thing I like about Crusade is their take on the characters. Ryu has EX moves, Captain Falcon charges his Falcon Punch, etc. It makes it more new and cool, tbh.

Here's a fun little thing. In ssf2 the special mode has a turbo option that lets you cancel moves into other moves. Jiggs can down throw into sing into down throw into rest for easy kills.

im a little late to this video, very fun since im not super familiar with crusade, but hopefully one day we can get the same kinda comparison video for rivals workshop smash characters with SSF2/Crusade

also to answer your question Flash2 is more fast pace and overall every character moves similar to Project M. Not exactly Melee but fast paced and whatnot.
They put more time into making the animations and the timing feel more polished.
Update, hidden skills link in a later update will soon be changed into Dark Link
If we want crusade to win, we need characters that change a loot of moves because ssf2 feels more polished SO that gives ssf2 an advantage.
Crusade is quantity over quality, Ssf2 Beta is quality of quantity, although some characters like Goku are horribly designed, and some reskins are also cheap, but compared to crusade ssf2 is First class..I love the crusade 6 player, huge roster, complex controls and finisher bars, but why is only 10/1000 characters properly designed
That whole “quantity over quality” this is old and dead. The game is still in development and changes to character sprites are being made. Also, they’re fan games. They don’t have to follow the rules of how characters feel or are designed.

Bro i started with ssf2 way before playing the og smash, when i saw link couldn't do his arrow bomb in the official games i fekt so betrayed because it was such a good idea
A missed opportunity for this is to also mention things like skins, color pallets and little details( i know he sometimes dous but i think that couldve made things more intresting. )
The Game auto starts after choosing window size (it and skips the intro and even starts the game without even me hitting the Enter button to get into the game after the Title) and I can not use any of the controls except for the esc button and keeps making weird beeping sound. I also can't select any mode on the main menu. How do I fix this?
I actually got a video on crusade where I was playing with ness and I tried using the up special to launch him upwards, but it by passes through him, it only works as an attack and not recovery.

Personally for me it is all about movement when it comes down to a smash fan game. Super Smash Bros Crusades with the ability to switch air dodges to any of the air dodge types in the main smash series. Crusade takes the cake even if some of the characters look a bit goofy.
OK, but why did you not love the anime reference for Crusade Falcon's Final Smash?
Crusade Falcon Final Smash could've been so cool if he did the Electrical Falcon Punch from the Fzero anime, complete with the voice clip and music

he's just floaty and mashy, his moveset is more optimal with mashing aireals, while compared to melee and 64 yoshi he's more grounded and technical

The one thing that holds me back from playing Crusade is the animations, they look soooooo unpolished compared to SSF2

i prefer crusade captain falcon because he has a few voice lines from the melee falcon (especially when he gets ko'd) and i love it

fun fact: SSF2 Project b patch 8 Mario is SSBU mario
for dk fox and the others why they dont have a different color pallete because these are not ssf2 custom sprites they are premade sprites not resprited They might MIGHT get a resprite for custom sprites
Who did the characters not in Smash better? I say Crusade, because consider Saki, Mach Rider, Porky, Ristar, just to name a few.
I would love someone like Terra(Tina) from FF6 as secondary rep for the FF series. No edgy emo boys with swords too big to work

The fact that SSF2 is locked to 30FPS for me makes it boring compared to SSBC that can be played in 60FPS, also i have seen people arguing about how "bad" the animations are in SSBC but come on if you try to play the animations of SSF2 in 60FPS the sprites gets destroyed

all ssf2 movesets are cleaner and faster, but crusade is more creative, i understand why he likes crusade luigi more

as an animator and pixel artist, its hard for me to like crusade, because there is no coherent style
