  • This winter we decided we wanted to go somewhere new, and somewhere warmer. The goal was to visit several of the national parks that are just too hot in the summer - Big Bend, Guadalupe Mountains, White Sands, and Saguaro!

      turns out my knee was infected, probably at surgery. I just had another surgery this Friday to get it cleaned up. They left the acl graph in there because it did not look bad. But this explains the discomfort that made me go home sooner.

    Once COVID-19 restrictions are lessened, I want to do a trip from BC, Canada (where I am), over to Montana, and down through the states to Mexico, then back up via the pacific coast.
    Your videos inspire me to want to get out and explore, I just hope we can all do it again safely one day 🤞.

    Very well done video. I highly recommend a cordless 1/2" impact to change tires and they can be used for many other items on the truck with a full socket set. I don't miss the tires iron or 4-way. With thousands spent on an overland set up... what's another few hundred for a cordless impact. I have 12v Charger also and it works great to recharge my camping lights and cordless impact battery.

    Thanks for posting really good vids on your channel. I especially enjoyed this episode since I frequent the Lincoln National Forrest often and typically stop by White Sands NP while we are in the area. We have checked out a few of the backroads but have never been up in the ridge area where you camped. I have looked at that area quite a number of times on the topo map and I only imagined how the views might be but your vid added confirmation that they are absolutely breathtaking! Keep up the good work!

    That part of NM is so awesome. I explored that same area back in October. We followed a very rough trail in the Guadalupe Mountains section of Lincoln National Forest, to a triple-sided ridge for an epic camp spot. The Capitan Mountains around Ruidoso are also amazing.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really enjoyed that whole area! Did you head south from Queen towards the Texas border in the mountains? We started heading that way because I thought it would be really cool, but we wanted cell signal for Christmas Day, so came back towards Queen.

    • @kyle_throws_tools
      @kyle_throws_tools 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RevereOverland No. I did the Caverns, then checked out Sitting Bull Falls. From that area I followed some BLM roads westward into Lincoln NF. (That was difficult as there’s a lot of ranches to work around). Camped on the ridge, then went north into the Cloudcroft area. I tried navigating the Sacramento Mountains area off pavement, but there’s so many dead ends and private land. Near Ruidoso I decided to take a sure route to Santa Fe and did a section the Lifestyle Overland Enchanted Rockies trail. That went along the Capitan Mountain Wilderness area, and is absolutely stunning.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kyle_throws_tools nice! I put together a route from the Canyons through the BLM land too, but it was late in the day, and the very first turn was a road that just didn't exist, so we took pavement!

      @@RevereOverland campervan/motorhome/RV. not a house.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nealtran6844I'd assume heating an RV is probably a little cheaper. The heater is cheaper and they don't use a ton of propane. An air conditioner costs more and needs a generator to keep it going.
      This is some guesswork and rounding here, but running the propane heater 24/7 is under $10 a day in propane. Running a generator 24/7 is around $30 a day in gas at $2.50 a gallon. Of course, when you're somewhere hot and dry you don't need to run the AC constantly.
      You'd need a battery and solar setup for the propane heater, and a slightly bigger battery and solar setup could help reduce the AC costs too, since you wouldn't need to run the generator as much.
