Lots of good advice, especially taking off the rear derailleur and rotors. They are the widest part on the bike and the most fragile. Super easy to remove as well. But removing the chain and cassette, no point.
Did you catch COVID? I thought there was no longer quarantine in Australia. Still a complex thing carting the ebike. Just got back from Europe, rode in Andorra and Wales, hired analogue bikes, and stuck to shuttles and lifts. Enjoyed the light bike so much, I bought a Commencal Clash for Thredbo. So have the ebike for climbing and and analogue for lifts. I have ridden Maydena in Tassie, not a bad set up, but they shuttle. I guess you are off to Derby? Again a pity you were not coming to Wollongong, great set up for ebikes. All in all my tip for riders with ebikes who travel is hire an analogue and stick to bike parks with shuttles or lifts, take your own safety gear. Or buy an analogue bike and take that. Enjoy your stay Sam.
Hey mate yes we got COVID on the plane I think? Or at 40th the first week we arrived! Yep there isn’t quarantine anymore but we did it as my dad has been sick and didn’t want him to get it! I hear you traveling with a normal bike is much easier but it’s still possible as I found out! I’ll see how I go on this trip as it’s more for the family but I would love to get some travel done ✅ in Aussie
Too many variables. Many areas it wil be impossible and m,any areas very easy. Best idea is to search for shops that stock your bike brand or motor/battery brand within the area you're going to land, or be riding in. Contact them well ahead to see if its possible and organise.
Good to know the Reign made it safe and sound. 👍
Thanks mate it was a little stressful
