The 5KX is awesome. In a lot of ways it's a better watch. However, there are a couple ways in which the 5KX could have been better. It's too bad because Seiko came really close to perfection with the 5KX. So close that it almost seems that they intentionally missed the bullseye.
I think most of the hate is because they cancelled the skx when they realised them. If they had come out a few years earlier it would be more accepted. I feel as though most people saw this as a band aid of sorts.

By far your most entertaining video yet!! I am not a fan of the new 5KX. However, I like blending the best qualities of both the skx and 5KX to make the ultimate SKX -> 4R36/200m resistance/solid case back/drilled lugs/ 5KX dial.

If, for some reason, you put 5kx spring bars in an skx case, they're impossible to remove (no shoulders, have to depress from side holes... Skx has no side holes) and you'll have to break the bars to remove
Yeah I noticed they weren’t flanged. I always but my Seiko fat spring bars flanged so I can get them off again. On the SRP new Turtle it’s ok with lug holes, but a nightmare on the SKX Orem case if the spring bars don’t have flanges.
Not sure if someone commented this but the skx oem jubilee bracelet actually fits quite nicely on the srpd as long as you use the srpd spring bars. I just bought the original skx bracelet in amazon for like $35 and with a little bit of adjustment it fits just as well as the stock oyster bracelet.
So I tried this as well and by using the smaller Srpd springbars on stock the jubilee , but it squeaked like crazy after trying that out. Did you have the same issue?
@@DD-ix3bm no but since the end links don’t fit perfectly I’m noticing more how they have a kind of large gap. I’ll probably end up buying a nice jubilee to fix this soon
Eric first of all I should have watched your video before I bought my OEM Seiko Jubilee bracelet. You were 💯 right! The lug offset and springbar size difference makes it so I can't use the SKX jubilee on my brand new eyepopping orange sunburst 5KX! I swapped out the springbars and put the smaller ones on the jubilee and it works (kind of) but it just made the bracelet rattle like crazy! Do any companies that you know of make 5KX bracelets yet?

Does the 5KX use the grey 2mm movement spacer like on an aftermarket NH36A, or the black 3mm movement spacer as used on the 7S26 from a stock SKX007? The grey movement spacer really requires a caseback with smaller inner diameter to hold the movement securely. I keep both types, but prefer to standardise on the 3mm as per standard SKX so I don’t have to think about it. Thanks hombre.

I know this is an old post but i have come into possesion of a 5kx and was wondering where would be the best place to source new parts looking for stock seiko bezel insert and dial. The watch i have has black dial with grey markers as well as a black and grey bezel. Im hoping to convert it to pepsi.

I am not quite sure what the value of hand winding is. I have an skx007 and there is never ever a time that comes up where I say "I wish this watch had hand winding!"
Really? That's crazy. I had an SKX007 about a year ago and traded it for an Orient Ray 2 just because I was so annoyed with having to shake the crap put of the watch to get it to start moving! I guess it's all personal preference.

@@NOSKIPPIN my point is that 5KX is more practical if your not using it as a real tool watch. 100 meters will allow you to swim in the pool or beach. The hacking and winding is suited for everyday use.
Basically 5xs are the original modded version of skx...and sorry to say for all the diver iso 200m fans, once you open the caseback / change the crystal to sapphire / domed crystal, the 200m wr will be pointless

They look good. They're dependable watches. But for a purist like myself, I can't bring myself to buy one.

The bezel on the SBCM023 is buttery smooth, low volume, no play, and mild effort required to turn. Sooooo satisfying.

I see you can buy pliers that are made to bend the spring bars properly so that they fit the 5KX with the strapcode bracelets.

Not all true, Ive tested my builds (originally quoted up to 200m) to 300m without any fail
