Good to hear. I'm trying to keep my 2012 in 'like new' condition. I get regular offers but they do not understand the condition of my car. It really is close to being new and has been dealer maintained since day one. As Mercedes is taking the subframe into their charge for replacement, the car will really be almost like new.
@@fuffoon It's a lovely car Mark, I have owned a few older E Classes and lust after a 212 which I will get soon. My 1991 Land Cruiser deserves a semi retirement so I have an excuse to posses an E Class again. Get some wax treatment done every few years and it will last forever. What is the story about the subframe, is it a recall?
The car may appear very expensive but the E class is a very advanced car with many innovations such as the "Attention assist" which was innovated by Mercedes along with PRE - SAFE that uses several sensors and ESP to prepare the car for a possible accident if it senses loss of control, the car then tensions the seatbelts, moves the seats into a more favorable position and closes windows and sunroof to prevent being ejected from the car. I have one and i am very pleased with it,never let me down.
Oh man, I loved this iteration of the E Class, loved those double headlights. Hate the most recent version, you can´t tell an S class from an E or C Class...each MB range used to have defining traits which made you identify them inmediately. Now they have gone the cheap slut Audi way, in which every car looks like a scaled version of the flagship car.
The C class is also a very nice car as my dad test drove one. i suggest the 2012 model with the updated interior which looks better than the old one, it includes more chrome trim and the sat nav is fitted into the dash like the E clases. The C class isn't quite as advanced as the E but it does come with PRE - SAFE :)
I've driven one of these on a 80mile trip after a 13hour day and to be honest it was difficult to get comfy and you sit quite low to the floor, (that said iam 6foot 4 ), it was a very relaxing cruiser on the motorway, for pottering around town it's a bit of an akward bus. It's strange there is something about having the Merc emblem always in your line of sight that gives the driver a prestigious feeling. Great car. Note skoda seem to have used the double front lights on the 2018 superb....
1st owner 2012 E250CDI wagon. I was told by many how sorry I would be and get killed on repair costs. I am happy to say that they were wrong, the car is very reliable and Mercedes is taking the subfame issue in their charge so I will pay all the litle new pieces to rebuild the entire rear suspension, they provide subframe and lots of labor. Labor is 3/4ths of the cost. It like winning a lottery for me. I'm afraid its going to be my transportation for the next 20 years.
Very fair and well done review. Personally I really love the new E Class. I would favour the Mercedes over the outstanding opposition, because it excels at what the E Class has always done best. Superb ride and comfort with understated elegance.
My employer provided me with two E-class MBs over the years. Each was very pleasant to drive but the service problems made them nightmares for the company. All sorts of things went wrong. When I had to buy my own car I switched to a Lexus LS and will never return to the German brands. Handling isn't quite as precise, but, in my opinion, in all other respects, it's significantly superior.
depends on the model. If it's built after 2010 they're supposedly not as prone to need repairs because some problems in the design were solved. If you need serious repairs, the parts are more expensive than your average car - if you get any work done at a mercedes partner garage you can also expect up to twice the average cost for work. ;) Unless you get a car that has serious problems though I'd say it's all still acceptable. The car is very nice and comfortable.
Also it is for safety many people have flown through the wind shield and have had their body ripped in half. It's not like it moves around when you hit bumps or anything.
I've never really felt twisted, in my C class, like you've said in your review. I didn't even feel like the steering wheel was offset either, it seemed just perfect for me. And true the foot operated parking brake takes a while to get used to.. But you appreciate it once you do :) Unless you plan on taking your car for drifting.
supposedly a BMW has a bit more of a "sport" touch to it than Mercedes E. E class drives very smooth though. Personally I prefer the electronics and interior packages of the Mercedes more, but both are great cars.
Wiggle protects it from breaking in the car wash. It is not a cheap glue on emblem. It holds up for a very long time. If stolen it is several 100 dollars to replace.
Hold its value? I just bought a 2013 E 350 avantgarde for around £6,000 in December 2022. Brilliant car but its lost nearly 90% of its value in just over 9 years.
Why is it...when someone reviews a merc they always say it's handling is not up to bmw sportiness...since when is a bmw the benchmark saloon. Some people prefer luxury over sportiness...if this is not true, then why are mercs so desired
They are both great cars. Traditionally Mercedes have always had the better ride quality while BMW provides better handling. Even with all the adjustable dampers and sensors, it's very hard to be the best at both
i was going to get one, asked mercedes why they offset the steering wheel, they said for ergonomic reasons as it focuses driver attention to middle of the road. heres my beef....that's not a good thing! when driving you actually need to be focused ahead ...angling inwards increases the blind spot on your right (uk ) and also offsets your perception of where the middle of the road is...important as the things most likely to hit you are actually coming in the opposite direction...and
rscosworthfan exactly. why have a large executive luxury car, with a frugal, common manual gearbox? it goes against the point of the car, and you hardly buy a car like this for economy. i can slightly understand on an AMG model, for driving experience, although i wouldn't personally.
i love that the parking brake is on the pedal on the floor. once i let a friend drive my -83 w123 240D and he was like, where do i release the handbrake?? theres no lever! i said pull that knob to your left, and he did that and kept braking, releasing and braking again and again cus he thought its was so unusual. ;)
the e class looks even better in real life but i can't say the same for the interior, hopefully the next gen e class will get a much needed upgrade to the interior
just so u people know this body style stilll looks better than the 2020 one......put them side by side i did ....and when that salesman came back with the approval he said ok wich one you want man it took me 3hrs to decide it was either a 2019 e class or a 2011 e class.. just like this one! hands down i chose the 2011 see kids.... its all about the stance!! and the 2011 had a better stance. not to mention i will never buy anything with air ride again.
HAHAH this guy is funny i love it xD we share the same humour style. more please! Nice stimulant wakeup in the back seat. yes my 'busy stressful executive life' hahahahah soo true!!! i think i fit the stereotype quite well
Omg carwow well I will. Call. You that cause I don't know your name even after watching handreds of our videos.. Damn brother you been doing this for a long time.. I love your reviews unfortunately still can't afford any of the cars your showcase 😂😂.. Maybe soon I will get that E300
Hey brother ! Hello from France, you are youg in this vidéo i buy the same car today, & your informations for this car it's nice, 13 year i fallow u, SOFIANE FROM MARSEILLE 👍
every car emits deadly exhaust smoke except zero emission vehicles, but even those vehicles batteries indirectly produce a massive amount of exhaust from how their mined and transported around the world, whats your point?
Manual and foot operated brake done go well, can be used but not great.. This cas looks well great, big and solid looking.... 5 series is good but they need to look out. XF is different,
chitpaul singh kallah hold assist is standard across the range since you never use the foot operated parking brake unless parked. Also I've owned an XF and it was the most unreliable car I've ever owned. Drank like a fish as well
You don't compare A4 with E-Class, they're in different segments. You compare A4 with 3 Series and C-Class. A6 with 5 Series and E-Class. A8, 7 Series and S-Class.
13 years later and it still looks great.
That is the sign of a classical design.
The original 212 will become collectable in the future.

What is the story about the subframe, is it a recall?
the sound the rear door made when he closed it is why i like this car ..
@Giao Tran THUD!. Love it.
just got a 2013 E250 CDI in 2022 still looks modern and drives like a dream 😁
I wish to buy one
But still can’t afford one
E-Class... Best series of cars ever!!!
Yes I regret selling mine and getting a C class which is nice but i miss the E refinements and comfort
2020.. and still cannot afford it
Hahahaua you are not alone my friend , time will come for us too
I just got one coated me 18k euros 200k km driven
@Dragos Dascal in germany from 9k euros to 30 or 25
@@almighty9662 wow in the US im about to buy a 2011 e350 for 17k with 25k miles (40k km) I gotta check it with a odb scanner tho
same here

2019:
TH-cam: allow me to introduce a 2010 video
Why hello there, pleasure to meet you.
Stop complaining about the positions of the steering and pedals , these cars were originally designed with them on the other side.
this guy should be on top gear his reviews are great
12 years later he's one of the best on this side of youtube haha
Best sharp MB Eclass ever....i agree with with Matthew it really holds its value
Fantastic design, so much better than what they're making now
Watching this in 2021 is gold
I watching in 2024 😂
I really love this car. Absolutely my favourite.
Off centre steering wheel, foot operated parking break...he bangs on about these two things in every bloody merc review
+sabbage100 yeah ive noticed that too
+rscosworthfan me too
I have an e250, haven't noticed any offset in the steering wheel at all
mariconor That's because your blind.
The Truth or not british.

This comment didn't age well. Now all mercs look like oversized A class which is sad :/
E-class might not have any of the bling-bling lines, but its just so balanced looking car. Time-less design!
Didn't expect to see mat Watson reviewing cars 13 years ago

I cam imagine that the Mercedes badge thing u mention might be appealing to real people like us. Had a mercedes before, same era as this. It was nice

The best Looking E class!
Very fair and well done review. Personally I really love the new E Class. I would favour the Mercedes over the outstanding opposition, because it excels at what the E Class has always done best. Superb ride and comfort with understated elegance.
I love your reviews better than top gear ..... very informative as well .... keep up the good work mate cheers!

I like the Merc's foot handbrake setup
We'll get this next year
Is this CARWOW Mat Watson???
Also it is for safety many people have flown through the wind shield and have had their body ripped in half. It's not like it moves around when you hit bumps or anything.
_look, it's the funny carwow guy._

Very quiet and powerful car to drive, I have just got one E250 2012 model in Malaysia
2022 and I just brought a 2012 e class
LOL ITS Mat Watson here from carwow

Cant wait to see a review of the new 2013 E-Class. SE Spec is very generous!!!
In the past the emblem was stolen a lot, they were metal and were pretty expensive to replace. They use plastic instead of metal now.
Why is it...when someone reviews a merc they always say it's handling is not up to bmw sportiness...since when is a bmw the benchmark saloon.

Because their all boy racer beemer fans
I'm thinking of getting one
You cannot make a mistake with Mercedes. Mechanics are just perfect and so as design. This model isn't even that expensive. About 16.000 $.
+Šemsudin Dino Poplava yes I got one
+Tanisha Adjo And what are your impressions as an owner? Im thinking about getting one soon.
+Šemsudin Dino Poplava make me feel good for sure lol
+Tanisha Adjo As i expected :D And its a real swag car it turns girls on lel.
Matt watson has really come a long way since
Finally not an automatic! :)
Who is watching this in 2021 lol
I think a love this channel !
That car is amazing, my father owns 1
Haha of course the steering wheel is of set,you have the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car
W
no its on the corrext side lol
It’s a problem with all Mercedes models no matter what side the driver sits on
M C are you American but any chance
These Brits and their driving. Too funny. Lol
Awesome reviews.
5 series is a real man’s car
i was going to get one, asked mercedes why they offset the steering wheel, they said for ergonomic reasons as it focuses driver attention to middle of the road. heres my beef....that's not a good thing! when driving you actually need to be focused ahead ...angling inwards increases the blind spot on your right (uk ) and also offsets your perception of where the middle of the road is...important as the things most likely to hit you are actually coming in the opposite direction...and
spiritlevel41 I own an e250 cdi and have no idea what he's on about. The steering wheel is not off centre
I also tip my hat to Mercedes. Wonderful cars.
you can get CLS or any AMG or SL/SLK if you want something exciting...
My family owned five Mercedes, you can wiggle the 3-point star badge all you want.
Darnt....they took away my one wiper and went to 2 wipers. No more eccentric sweep!
I get the impression that he freaking loves this car
its a rich mans car
Now, you can buy it, in a good condition.
Damn 10 seconds in and i just realized that's mat from carwow.
i never really "clicked with the exterior" of this model of the E-class, i loved the previous model though
Why would you use a manual gearbox at this level? It's not like it's the sport AMG version...
I like the humor in your reviews.
Do you guys export to African countries??
The title should show what model of E class he is talking about.
and what do you drive?
You should see how much they are in singapore.
E200 is about 160,000€ ($ 211,000), and E63 AMG is 320 000€($420,000).
Ewww, a Manual on an E-Class!
Are you American by any chance
Nope, English
+steve m Agreed manual not right for mercedes
rscosworthfan exactly. why have a large executive luxury car, with a frugal, common manual gearbox? it goes against the point of the car, and you hardly buy a car like this for economy. i can slightly understand on an AMG model, for driving experience, although i wouldn't personally.
steve m omg... I literally was gonna comment the same thing! The 'ewww' and everything! 😮
i love that the parking brake is on the pedal on the floor. once i let a friend drive my -83 w123 240D and he was like, where do i release the handbrake?? theres no lever! i said pull that knob to your left, and he did that and kept braking, releasing and braking again and again cus he thought its was so unusual. ;)
Any plans for a review of the new version???? cant wait to see one!!!
This is the best car ever
Dude just 3 min squeezed everything nowadays carwow E class review is 10-15 min
Great review
i have never own a mercedes only volvo but this mercedes looks good
the e class looks even better in real life but i can't say the same for the interior, hopefully the next gen e class will get a much needed upgrade to the interior
just so u people know this body style stilll looks better than the 2020 one......put them side by side
i did ....and when that salesman came back with the approval he said ok wich one you want
man it took me 3hrs to decide
it was either a 2019 e class or a 2011 e class.. just like this one!
hands down i chose the 2011
see kids.... its all about the stance!! and the 2011 had a better stance.
not to mention i will never buy anything with air ride again.
Completely agree. Pre facelift w212 is the greatest looking e class ever alongside the w124.
HAHAH this guy is funny i love it xD we share the same humour style. more please! Nice stimulant wakeup in the back seat. yes my 'busy stressful executive life' hahahahah soo true!!! i think i fit the stereotype quite well
As standard the avantgarde package comes with xenon or not?
Omg carwow well I will. Call. You that cause I don't know your name even after watching handreds of our videos.. Damn brother you been doing this for a long time.. I love your reviews unfortunately still can't afford any of the cars your showcase 😂😂.. Maybe soon I will get that E300
OMG it's Mat Watson from CARWOW. Never tell me the odds
I bought the previous model after test driving both, the previous model felt better build and more luxurious than this one.
Thanks, Mat.
Mercedes looks a bit old but classy while BMW is more young and wild
Which car would be better for Chauffeuring BMW 5 series or Mercedes E- Class???
Hey brother ! Hello from France, you are youg in this vidéo i buy the same car today, & your informations for this car it's nice, 13 year i fallow u,
SOFIANE FROM MARSEILLE 👍
Carwow bien-sûr 😉
In my opinion this design didn't age gracefully as much as the rest of Mercedes models.
How come only BMW and Ford Mondeo or Focus are said to be more fun to drive than any other car? That's weird...
he is right, from some angles it does look a bit weird.
emblems aren't very expensive. and they're meant to wiggle so they don't snap after being hit
@miguelitolitolito that shows how good the quality is and how safe it is.. so after all its not that bad
every car emits deadly exhaust smoke except zero emission vehicles, but even those vehicles batteries indirectly produce a massive amount of exhaust from how their mined and transported around the world, whats your point?
yes i need some extacy and some carl cox music, then i love this car ;)
E class is the best sedan ever built
So which is better, an s320 or the e class... For ultimate comfort.
steering wheel is offset because it is not primary built for right side driving :)
Drank like a fish as well
This car is a very common taxi in Finland.
that the handle is run the center?
por que el manubrio esta corrido del centro?
i had mine replaced twice, $40 each time, not too expensive
my next car :D
You don't compare A4 with E-Class, they're in different segments. You compare A4 with 3 Series and C-Class. A6 with 5 Series and E-Class. A8, 7 Series and S-Class.
The E-class looks sleeker than the 5-series. The 5-series looks kind of chubby.
wtf is up with manual transmission? never seen an e class with manual transmission..!!! :-O
