    Regarding "fitting in", I remember John Bevere (years ago) saying that we are not meant to be a "subculture", but rather a "counterculture". 🙌

    I tell people I abstain because I have teenage and young adult children and if they are EVER in a situation where I need to drop everything and get to them, I don't want any bit of alcohol in my system. Not to mention the other effects alcohol has on my body. Thank you for this message and being bold with these types of topics.

    Thank you for this message Pastor Rob. So many great points and explanations. This really matters to all of us, because even if we don’t struggle ourselves, odds are we all have someone we love who does struggle. Thank you for being bold with this topic!

    New Testament Scholar David deSilva has written a great historical fiction book (set in AD 89) called "A Week in the Life of Ephesus". Super interesting read!

    I dont want be critical but why in the world did not use this verse in your 2 part series?
    1 Corinthians 6:9-10
    9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
    10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

      Amen! And they don’t because they don’t believe it. They believe in Once Saved Always Saved as opposed to what the Bible actually says regarding enduring to the end etc. They and most churches believe if you sin after confessing Christ (even if it’s sin that clearly says that person will not be with God) they just think your relationship with God is hindered and you will get less rewards.
      In reality, anyone that dies without repentance of willful sin won’t even make it there but they don’t warn the congregation of that.
      I’d love to hear them teach on 1 Corinthians 5! Paul says to cast the sinners out of the church for the destruction of the flesh so that their spirit may be saved and calls them wicked people. We know they would never preach on that lol. They need the people in the churches to pay their tithes so they can keep the system running.
