Thank you. To be cautious about leaders who need an enemy to further their agenda. Teaching over media to hate and write off those who are hurting and need our support. Then to try to share that I need to FEAR my country and demonize others. Thank you for reminding me to love unconditionally.
That does not compute. He spent the entire message demonizing other people. He should stick to the Bible. But since he doesn’t really believe the Bible, he sticks to politics and social theory. Now, when I witness to people, I quote the Bible primarily. Because it has intrinsic power. Don’t try to philosophize, or find some elaborate speech to commit people. Now that he’s got gray hair, he’s trying to rationalize everything. I don’t trust guys like that for a split second. I know how I got saved. And I’ve seen hundreds of people received Christ and dramatically change.no politics, no philosophy, no fancy talk. No Andy should just quit the ministry and run for politics instead.
Amen. You keep being you, dear brother. Your dad was wonderful and so are you. I love your style! I think people tend to attack and criticize Andy because he speaks the truth and he ruffles feathers just like Jesus "ruffled feathers" when He started challenging the old ways of thinking. Andy is truly one of the most brilliant preachers I have ever met. I appreciate his honesty and passion.
It is very easy to misquote Andy if you don’t know his manner of preaching: contextual preaching. You have to follow through the entire message and not a part of it to appreciate the full message. He preaches within context and I consider him one of the most gifted preachers of our time. May the LORD continue to bless him!
Thank you for your message. I did not even realize the gap between the resurrection and Peter’s meeting with the Gentiles. More importantly the distinction regarding our current political climate, just breaks my heart. Neither side works for us or for good
Pastor Andy, thank you for embracing the truth and for preaching/teaching it with boldness! My prayer: Father God, after "hearing this message" by Pastor Andy, please help me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to be bold in sharing these truths in the marketplace with those who desperately need You. And Father God, please continue to rest your anointing upon Pastor Andy as he preaches the Word. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
Wow! You got guts Andy! You are going to attacked on this one. If God, "Jesus" be for you, who can stand against you. Can't wait to see the ripple effects!
@johniii8400 to the person with clinical depression. I feel very deeply for you. I am thankful that Jesus also went thro a little time (on the cross) of believing himself abandoned by the Father. He - like you - could cry out in desolation 'My God why have you forsaken me.' See Psalm 22..... Of course he wasn't forsaken- But it felt like it, as no doubt it feels for you... David says in another Psalm "Why do you stand afar...." and another time "my couch is wet with my tears." Once we asked an Old man 'How are you keeping?' He said softly 'I'm being kept.'

This is fabulous! Jesus wasn’t focused on “ sin” but love was his message again and again. Because guess what? There are no “ those” sinners, only “ we” sinners. It’s inclusive. Not “ those” people which is laden with judgement which is the opposite of what Jesus taught. Remember “You will know they are Christians by their love”, not their judgment about sin or political philosophy. Jesus summed it up in his response to the question of what is most important? He said the greatest of these is LOVE- Love God with your heart, soul, strength and mind. And LOVE your neighbor as yourself”. Period. 😮 A controversial sermon. Nothing I have not heard from him but he really puts it out there! This one will not be popular with many but definitely food for thought. My synopsis - also on my shared FB post. 1. Major message is that Jesus has all authority, as he said. Even over Old Testament teachings… The church should be about following Jesus. 2. He discusses hip churches that followed their model but are not based on Jesus. He discusses church that divide their services into traditional and contemporary in order to”reach more people”. Of course, he points to the inward focus of many churches. As has been his message, he includes the inclusivity and diversity, a key part of what Jesus taught, and needs to be readily visible in what the church does. 3. Next: one extremely bold and blunt point was about any church aligning with any political party. The gospel of love extends to those of both parties. The word “hate “ becomes part of churches involved with the far right. Stanley, however, criticized church members of both parties that choose party over being a follower of Jesus. Just begin it and see what you think. I agree 👏🏻
I really don’t understand how a Christian can vote Democrat when the platform of the democrats is so fundamentally opposed to Biblical teaching. And yes, I heard what Andy said about being biblical, and I disagree with it. I’m still disturbed by how he is essentially preaching against parts of the bible, the Old Testament in particular.
He isn’t. For centuries misguided so called Christians have used the Bible to justify atrocities, it’s happening again. What Andy is saying is a warning.
that is an interpretation entirely up to you to decide. what he preaches against is demonizing people instead of loving them. and that kind of rhetoric is really only heard from one side.
@@kaischmidt730 Yes, I get what he’s saying and it makes sense to a point. But he is clearly trying to move people away from the “clobber passages”. By calling out people who misinterpret the Bible and use it to justify mistreating others he is simultaneously influencing people to ignore those parts that others find problematic. Being loving to our fellow man is all well and good, but there are some things God calls us to not love. Like sin and this fallen world.
While he sounds good and does have some truth, he never discuss the fact that we need to turn from sin. The Lord outlines that for us. Yes Jesus loved, but did not approve sin. Those who were redeemed left their life of sin, those who stayed in sin Jesus let them walk away. You cannot say you are in the faith if you practice sin as a habit of life. You would be deceived and counted as the tares Among the wheat or the goats among the sheep. I pray often to the Lord, asking him to show me the areas of sin that I am holding onto so I can abandon them and live a life holy pleasing him. He is also is broad brush this issue. There are more churches that are non political than he thinks.
32:25 - Andy says he’s “evangelical, not an evangelist”. The latter is a body of human church leaders active in today’s political realm, who seek to influence their members’ behavior. The former is simply the method of teaching as many people as possible with the good news of Jesus. To ‘be allowed’ (your words) to preach implies that you think a specific governing body of evangelists ought to have final veto power in endorsing or condemning the messages a pastor is allowed to deliver. Thankfully, that’s not the case.
Stanley: "This statement ['all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me'] has been reduced to simply another statement or another verse in the Bible-equated with every other statement or verse in the Bible-and that is tragic, because Jesus said this 300 plus years before the first Bible was ever assembled." - Obviously, the Old Testament was already assembled before the time of Christ, and recognized as authoritative Scripture by Christ Himself. - Even while the New Testament was still being written, we see writings of the New Testament being accepted as having canonical status. This is evident in Paul's quotation from the Gospel of Luke along with Deuteronomy, found in 1 Timothy 5:17-18 and in Peter's reference to Paul's writings as Scripture in 1 Peter 3:15-16. - Historian W.H.C. Frend notes that the collection of the four gospel accounts and the Apostle Paul's epistles were commonly used in Church worship-being understood to have divine authority-by about A.D. 80. Therefore, we see that the canon was largely recognized long before the time-frame Stanley seems to indicate.
You make some interesting points. Regarding historian W.H.C. Frend, I find it hard to believe as the gospel of John being written by A.D. 80 was highly unlikely. I believe most theologians agree it was around A.D. 90-95. None-the-less, possibly others were used (especially the epistles written to churches or groups of churches) and yes, they are divinely inspired. The bibles recognition wasn't official until later on, around the 4th century (my church history class is a bit vague), but this doesn't mean it wasn't used or respected before. This happened in the Council of Hippo and the Council of Carthage, although by then many books were already considered canonical. Maybe Stanley's timeline isn't 100%, but it doesn't sound off to me either because it depends on when you would classify the canon "official". The point of Paul quoting Luke in 1 Timothy 5:18 is fantastic. Thanks for sharing that. I don't see however any reference from Peter to Paul in 1 Peter 3:15-16.
Among the points Stanley makes in this sermon, he strives to lead his hearers to the following conclusions concerning Scripture: 1. The Bible is a collection of books, rather than a single book. 2. The authority of the Bible is less than the authority of Christ. 3. The Old Testament is for historic Israel, not for the Church. 4. Being biblical is different from and less than being Christ-like. Though Stanley asserts "I'm so theologically conservative," the above points are a repudiation of *sola Scriptura*, they are theologically moderate, and they will (over time) lead to a rejection of other biblical doctrines that characterize the theologically conservative position.
