The sad part is, it feels like there's potential for a genuinely good story here, the set up was relatively good and the ambience was excellent...but it's weird how it feels like a strange mix of monsters and abilities without any proper clarification of what they ACTUALLY look like (I get some things are better left up to the imagination but C'mon, at least TELL us what we're looking at. Compare it to an Animal or Object if you can.)
Also, I DESPISE the fact that the title had nothing to do with the story at all.
I give it an overall 8/10, but most of the heavy lifting is done by Lighthouse.

An infection that understands human psychology and dialect. Having the capabilities of altering ones communication. What's the point of stopping the parents from acknowledging what's out there. Without stopping the parents from saying no when the kids want to open the door or go outside? If it can already influence the parents mentality. And it's definitely intelligent enough to operate their communication center within their brain. It's not really that much of a stretch to operate other portions of the brain to get the parents to be in a dream like State that's opening up the doors and windows while having vocal communication to support their actions.
If the monsters already have knowledge of these capabilities. Why would they not just contain the parents a little bit longer until they're virus was more dominant. Then release the parents in order to bring back the children. Or why not have a ton of infected parents orchestrate a multitude of parties in a localized area.
Obviously the writer is either lazy or did not wish to understand nor educate themselves on humanology.

Welcome to the Creepy Bedtime Story Club. Never thought I'd be 46 and not be able to sleep without listening to stories. But when I said this in a comment 2 years ago I was shocked to find out that people even as old as their 70s that can't sleep without these stories. Last I checked there's over 132 members.

I'll admit, it had me in the first half. But the longer it went on, the less and less sense it made. I get the whole "tell them about the monster but don't show them" and leaving things to people's imagination stuff but way too much was left unexplained in this story.
It was a captivating listen but ultimately unfulfilling and just plain flat out confusing.

I’ve heard this one before. I know Dark Somnium did it, and I’m pretty sure Mr. Creepypasta did it as well. But Lighthouse is such a unique performer that I’m willing to hear it again. And it paid off. It’s because you bring the characters to life in such a unique way. Don’t get me wrong, Mr. Creepypasta and the Dark Somnium duo are great actors and storytellers. And their channels each offer something unique that sets them apart. But the way Lighthouse portrays characters feels less like acting, and more like bringing the written word to life.
There are way too many generic Creepypasta/indie horror short story channels that upload almost anything with very low standards of quality. They upload twice a day and their catalogue is massive, but it’s generic with very little characterization and almost no style or flavour of its own. There are so many channels like that, it makes me feel sorry for the new fans who are just discovering this niche community. And don’t get me started on the channels who outsource all their work and voice to AI, and generate generic AI horror music or AI rain sounds for their ambience. It’s like fast food, but for underground horror literature. In the piles of coal, a few gems can be found, and Lighthouse is one of the best of the gems.
I probably listen to about 7 channels for indie horror literature, but my recommended on the homepage when I go to the Creepypasta section almost never has any of the quality channels. They have some decent channels with a subpar selection of stories, some talented narrators who upload so much and so often that it’s a gamble when you click on a video, a chance you’ll find something decent, but more likely you’ll find something generic and boring. Their technique is narrating and uploading as many stories as they can, treating it like a full time job, thus increasing their chances statistically of a video being successful on any given day. I respect the hustle, but it’s not the best user experience.
Then, we have the quality channels. They might upload almost every day, or sometimes just twice a week. But they choose stories with quality writing, interesting characters, immersive worlds, rewarding mysteries, appropriate music, musical variety, good characterization, good voice acting, as many exclusives as possible, original work sometimes, anyhow. I don’t want to write a list of all the best in case I forget someone, but this channel is one of the best. Each of the narrators I call the best have their own style. They give you a reason to choose them over the hundreds of other channels trying to do the same thing.
It’s a topic worth a lot more discussion. I would love to make a video about it, and a channel analyzing this niche genre, but I have no computer. I just ranted again. I’ll shut up.

Wait, really, you've heard this one before? I couldn't find a transcript of this text anywhere- I like to read along with the story in case I get lost or in case some words get garbled. I just kind of assumed this was a Lighthouse original, that's so cool!

Siren head is by far one of the scariest creatures. It has a wide array of abilities that can lure people out, or disrupt the electrical system of a town, it’s only when they move on it goes back to normal.
