    Good job. You are young, I broke many of parts. I'm now 70. Some secrets: never "hang" on tool, if tough, use jerking motion. When loosening lug nuts ALWAYS push down & NOT lift up. Good job! 👍

    I just bought the control arms with bushing already in! Saves all that removal and pressing hastle, but not as easy a job as you might think! Don't just depend on the axle stands, I always leave the manual jack in as well, just in case, I want to live till i'm an old man.

    Got the socket size at about 0:59 which I don't have. After trying all my biggest sockets. Gotta get a 19mm. Great job on your work, thanks again.

    Is it better to just buy a complete control arm with bushing? Or just buy a replace bushing?

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as I know you can't get a control arm with these polyurethane bushings preinstalled, if that were the case then that would for sure be the better option! All control arms come with standard rubber bushings though!

    I can't even explain how hard it was the get those front control arm bolts out on mine. Starting in 2009 you have to also remove the oil filter housing to get the passenger side arm off.

      Oh snap, I never knew about the oil filter housing for the 10th gens, that sucks for sure

    Had to use a drill bit and drill around destroying the rubber, it would be easier.

    Personal issue. Just drove me crazy how you kept calling the ‘sleeve’, a ‘ring’ lol. Still thanks for posting for people who haven’t attempted this. I was bringing this video up to show my friend how i did mine basically. Because he was asking why my Corolla handled so much better around corners than his. That’s one of the reasons, but the white line sway bars, bc racing coilovers with my swift spring upgrade, and the 18” 5Zigens with kumho ecstas definitely all work together to make the car handle great. I have a blast in windy canyons with my car. It’s also a manual with an XRS C60 manual swap. So I went from a 5 speed manual to 6 speed with LSD and a 4.5/1 final drive. Makes the car get off the line sooooo much quicker. But the trans was $2000 by itself lol. Not sure if it’s worth it to everyone. But I love driving and I plan on turboing it once I get my other car registered. Already have the kit, just need to have another car to drive while I start tearing into the engine compartment on my 07’ Corolla base model manual lol.

      Haha sorry if my terminology was bothersome, I don’t work on cars professionally so there’s a lot of things I call by the wrong name 😅 looking to turbo and 6 speed swap mine too, did you get your transmission from MWR?

      If it makes you feel any better I have a 06 XRS and I paid over CAD$4K for a C64 w/ LSD that was slightly used, cant get em here to save ur life

    Dude I got these energy bushings free with a momo shift knob I bought off this one dude for 06 corolla xrs.
    I don’t have instructions so knowing these things are clutch.
    My question for you is: What are some ESSENTIAL TOOLS I need for this job?

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Besides the basic hand tools, I’d try getting something to press them out, it’ll be much easier than how I removed them, and less reckless too. Also a wire wheel will be useful for removing debris from the inside of the control arms

      Thanks! Definitely not the easiest job, a bushing press would make this job significantly easier especially since that's what the pros use but obviously not everyone has one available

    Do you have squeek a year later?

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No squeaks, but I do have a faint clunking noise. Not sure if it's the bushings or not, but I'm inclined to think that the bushings are fine since all of the suspension components feel solid and there's no play

    Polyurethane bushings are a no good. They squeak sooner than OEM/normal rubber bushings. All they good for is the cosmetic looks, speaking from experience..

    • @Wayne3nterprises
      @Wayne3nterprises 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not true. They actually give a noticeable difference in handling performance. I had poly motor mounts in an 01 Integra gsr for example that FULLY eliminated my wheel hop and gave me a significant launch improvement. I've used them to elimate tons of body roll too.
      They do something other than esthetic improvement to a non visible part... speaking from experience 🤦
