    Temperature immersion, that’s a new one for me. I imagine that being useful for day / night differentiation, weather, or using a tool / weapon that heats up during use. Maybe even to indicate an injury or being hit by something.

    • @ThrillSeekerVR
      @ThrillSeekerVR  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +71

      I have tried a few little temperature haptic modules before and I don't mean to sound hyperbolic or exaggerative, but I firmly believe that temperature feedback is a WAY bigger deal for immersion than even vibration feedback.

      They could in theory be combined with existing feedback modalities once they scale down the ribbon cables and overall size of the driving electronics (also mentioned in the paper)

    4:22 FYI Thrill, End to End Encryption doesn't mean meta can't read your headsets backups, end to end encryption just means intercepting the backup while it's on the way to meta's servers is a lot harder. Even if it did mean meta couldn't read the backup I'd be surprised if they can't just read the entire storage of the headset whenever they want anyway. And even if there was proof that there is no backdoor to read the headsets entire storage or ram or any other important component and this backup was also encrypted before being sent by something like AES, there's still no reason why they couldn't claim that the backup is encrypted before being sent to their servers and then sent the encryption keys of that system with the backup. There are no real ways to ensure a company holding your data backups can't read them without you yourself encrypting them and keeping those keys secure outside of a system that company has explicitly greenlit

    • @QuantumConundrum
      @QuantumConundrum 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its entirely a chain of trust when the access is limited, and on teh topic of storage. That's why it matters a lot when companies don't comply to external demands, or when they do they actually hand over encrypted data. That's the only way that trust is built... and like you said, there's still no 100% but let's just say some companies are closer to 100% than others.

    Like you build some level or whatever, the headset registers it (somehow, using MR black magic), and gives you characters like in the game you showed.
    Then you can play with them, maybe you can export your physical build to a model in the headset and share it with people. Maybe they can use it to build their own with it
    Possibilities are endless

    6:17 this is exactly why i chose to go with 3rd party straps immediatly. both cuz people claimed the elite strap for quest 2 was more like delete strap sometimes - clearly the same here, and cuz it sometimes just wasnt really the most comfy/convenient product. it was better than stock strap yes, but tbh with what meta's straps cost, youre actually better off just going for kiwi design for cheaper yet more comfy, or extra comfort at a slightly higher (still lower than meta) price at bobovr

    6:55 I have the elite battery straps for both Q2 and Q3 launch dates. Never had any issues. People who had them break that was mishandling them. User error.

    2:46 I had an idea while watching this. I'm sure there's a good reason why it hasn't been done yet, but what about just having ferrofluid in the sacs and using electromagnets to actuate them? No need for a mechanically complex pump if you can just change the shape of the fluid through a handful of magnets

    You know it’s funny, I haven’t had boundary issues for months, I mean I could be staring at my computer with a blank wall next to me and it’d work fine. Now I have to sit there twirling my head around for two minutes before it works, and seems to reset every time I leave the headset

    If only! Even if I had one in the living room the only space large enough for VR I couldn't afford the electricity with the cost of living crisis here in Australia... Needless to say I literally can't use VR for half the year because of how hot it is. Waiting for winter to come back around so I an jump back in!

    As far as the VR Lego game; tell me it wouldn't be cool if we could build a custom object and then have LEGO custom build your design. And ship it to you in reality!? I would just love that.
