    We went there on a family road trip once! Truly an amazing place. We had so much fun exploring the houses and learning our history! I truly recommend staying at this place for a few days to tourists and locals who want to feel the culture and history of the PH. We slept in a spanish-style house and went on some tours, finding hidden buildings and statues, went on the boat ride and workshops, and just enjoyed the architecture, the shows, and the art!

    it would be nice if there's a shope or boutique that rents the traditionalcloathes of filipino elite back in times for photo shots. I want to see you guys wearing those clothes with the traditional old calesa wit the old structures background. How cool it would be!

    Mike and Nelly, you two are so inspiring.
    I am Filipina and have lived in the United States since 1956. I was born in Northern Philippines, unfortunately, I do not know too much about my country as my father wanted us to learn the American way of life. I appreciate watching your adventures and your appreciation for the Philippines. I hope to visit my home land one day. Please take care, be safe and abundant blessings to you both. Happy new year.

    • @gi2bull
      @gi2bull 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes. The Philippines would have countless of large old houses has the Japanese not invade. What the Japanese did not destroy in Manila, the Americans blew them up. And it was not just buildings that were destroyed. We lost so much of our colonial period legacies. The time when our identity was forming.

    Bistek is a filipino colloquial word for BEEF STEAK

    • @JB-vy5cc
      @JB-vy5cc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bistec is actually a Spanish loan word from the English words beef steak. Bistek is the Filipino version of bistec.

    • @gramirez72
      @gramirez72 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      J B
      ...And that's what he just said --
      Bistek is the Filipino word for Beef Steak.
      It's actually Bistek Tagalog, which is actually Bistec Encebollado, if you want to be nitpicky.... 🙄😊

    • @JB-vy5cc
      @JB-vy5cc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gramirez72 If you want to be ultra nitpicky, bistek comes from bistec which comes from beef steak. Bistek did not come directly from beef steak as arch jazejam said.

    • @gramirez72
      @gramirez72 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      J B
      arch jazejam’s message does not imply that at all. He’s simply saying that bistek translates to beef steak. Which it does!
      You’re reading into the message way more than you need to!
      Etymologically, to say that bistek comes from beef steak is not false. Because it does come from beef steak. You’re arguing over one letter, c to k. The root of the word is same.
      Why is this an issue?
      Bistek means beef steak. That’s the translation. It came from Spanish, but it is now part of the Filipino language.
      Are we going to analyze and debate every single word in Filipino that came by way of Spanish?! What for?
      You’re making the original statement way more of an issue than it is.

    • @gramo63
      @gramo63 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the French call it "bifteck." Oui, c'est vrait, mes amis. And in Batangas, "beefsteak" is pronounced "bipistik". Talaga.
