Here I am, 40 years old, realizing how much Robin Williams had an impact on my childhood. I can't stop smiling every time I see Hook. It was my favorite movie growing up.
I hope one day they add all of the deleted scenes in and we get the true version they were going for. Don’t get me wrong I love this movie but finding out how much they had to cut that we’ve never seen would be amazing
The original Peter Pan was about growing up. Hook is about remembering those younger years and remembering that you should still have fun even as an adult.
It's real imaginary food. It's only real for those who truly embrace the magic of Neverland. Peter smelled it, which means it's real food. But he hasn't really embraced the magic yet until later on in the scene.
Best scene in the movie. The central theme (Peter reengaging with his inner child, his true self, and therefore his love for life) is all here. And It surely hits harder as an adult. Underrated film, by golly!
My siblings and I watched this movie all the time when we were kids. Now that I’m 40 it hits even harder, especially the scene where the little boy is stretching Peter’s face before joyously saying “Oh there you are, Peter!” I was a little boy when this came out, so it makes that scene even more relatable. This movie is a gem, and the modern excuse for “Peter Pan” is a cow turd in comparison.
I wonder. Are we able to do retroactively deserved award for this? Our generation Loved this and yet to see people say this was not really critically acclaimed.💯🤷🏽♀️
When he slices that coconut I imagine some very very forgotten memories flew back in that moment, and he realizes for just a moment that he really was Peter Pan. Shocked and amazed, everyone went silent. Bangarang...
7:05 I've always thought that the crow sound after the slicing of the coconut was a little nod to Peter Banning/Pan remembering. sorry if my wording makes no sense
My fantasy acid trip. Anyone else ever wonder why when the lost boys start chanting for Peter Pan they all chant “Panning” his last name in the real world.
This was never made clear: was there actually nothing there all along and everyone was using there imagination or did food only magically appear because Peter imagined it and it only worked because he was Peter Pan?
Although Hook itself doesn't delve into it much, Neverland, as described in the original work, is a land of stories and dreams. The things that people believe influence what is found there, and the things found there influence those who come there in turn. There is a degree of reality bending correlated with the strength of belief of those living in Neverland. In all likelihood, the food was, at first, not real at all. But through collective belief, and the acceptance of that belief, it became real. Or real enough at least to physically exist in the moment.

Did you see Comic Relief when Don Rickles slapped him for joking about his baldness? He said he was tickled to hear that Robin was Peter Pan and WHAP!
Bro was on Beastmode ! RP the Great Man ❤
I think grown ups back then simply couldn't realize just how magical this movie was for us as children. I watch scenes and I remember my childhood!!
It was magical for those kids on set too!
Not sure what you mean, considering my mom watched this movie with me multiple times and loved it.
@@SOB98 I simply tried to explain the bad ratings this movie had

It's funny. Peter can SMELL the fake food before he can fully imagine it. It just shows he's on his way to being Pan the Man.
Never realized that!! Thanks so much

The scene where Too Small says “oh THERE you are, Peter!” Brought tears to my eyes even back when a was a kid!
This was one of my favorite scenes from any movie ever.
This movie got bad reviews for no reason. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Dustin Hoffman deserved best supporting actor in this movie!

Films don't get bad reviews for no reason

Bangarang...
Bruh this had to be the funnest scene to do any child actor has ever done. Imagine being a kid and having a food fight with Robin freaking Williams
7:05 I've always thought that the crow sound after the slicing of the coconut was a little nod to Peter Banning/Pan remembering. sorry if my wording makes no sense

One of the best cinema scenes of my childhood. I was JUST old enough to know what a gynecologist was too.
I misss you Robin Williams so much it hurts me so much
This was an OG battle rap.
Some of those big dishes pans looked empty didn't they?
What a movie .
Nearsighted gynecologist? Are those kids old enough to know what that profession is?
That went over my head as a kid. I figured he was just using adult sounding words to insult him.
thats why we have special operations steven
Why do they all of a sudden see what he sees like there was nothing on the table before?
with his smelting nose
Things I didn’t notice as a kid: Rufio throws like a girl. That coconut wasn’t going to hit Peter

It’s a you have to believe to receive type thing - it can’t appear unless you believe it can
