Robin Williams Goes For a Bumpy Ride | Hook | Now Playing
There will never be another Robin Williams ❤
One really cute thing about the plane scene is that Maggie is so young and innocent that she doesn't even see the spite behind Jack's drawing. She was pretty much just saying, "isn't Jack a great artist?" the way she shows it to Peter. Makes you think, when the latter asks where his parachute is, Maggie probably should have had a line. Like, "I was just wondering that myself", or something to that effect.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBIN WILLIAMS 🎂🎁🎈🧁🍦
4:48 JACK: BE SURE TO BUY ENOUGH VIDEOTAPE!
Peter: (normal voice) "Wait for the good pitches!"
Also Peter: (this time in pirate-like voice) "Wait for the good pitches!"
"Talk to him!" I'll bet every one of our moms said that to our dads.
You know what I love about this? That even as an adult, he’s serious but still having fun, well office fun, but still somewhat like he used to be. He adapted, but he never really changed.
Costume and set design for this movie were top-notch
3:16 That's Dustin Hoffman as the voice of the airplane captain
And this is a nod to the dual-role casting in the original Peter Pan play, wherein both Captain Hook and George Darling are played by the same actor.
@@MultiJames95 Yes it is
I dunno. That sounds more like Sam Etic, who voiced Mr. Bergstrom on the Simpsons.
@@musicalsteve82 It's definitely Dustin Hoffman's voice
@@thepowernator6241 Jk. They’re the same person. Dustin guest-starred, but he didn’t want to be associated with the cartoon, so he wanted to be credited with a pseudonym. The writers thought up the name Sam Etic, because Dustin is, you know, Semitic. Dustin laughed, and that’s his credit on The Simpsons.
Peter: “where’s my parachute?”
Wife: “I can give you a pretty good guess as to why you don’t have a parachute!”
if you think about this scene deeper in a symbolic way: They fly to London on a Pan Am plane, the pinnacle of luxury, adventure and icon of air travel during the golden years, the film was released on December 1991, Pan Am went bankrupt on December 4th 1991.
This flight is hidden premonition to Peter, he is flying during the season of family, reunion and childhood wonder back to his own childhoods "Neverland" as he has lost his inner childhood, adventurous and joyful self, his inner Peter Pan.
The airline, like Peter’s memories of Neverland, is something glorious that’s become distant and neglected.
It also helps that actor reading the flight captain's lines is Dustin Hoffman.
4:59 is hilarious 🤣
4:33 my friend when i say i dont want to go to the massage parlor
Them flying on Pan Am really dates this movie. Also, surprised they aren't flying first class.
Everytime I'm on a plane with turbulence I think of this very scene haha
Pan Am ... Yes Peter, that's your name in Neverland. You are the Pan.
Funny they used B-roll of a Pan Am 747 for this as Pan Am went bust exactly one week before this film came out.
Makes sense though. Movies don't get filmed, edited, and finished within a week (maybe today they do) Back then it usually took a year or 2 , after filming, to edit and complete
Does the music in the baseball scene remind anyone else of Wii Sports?
yup, but it's amazing what John Williams was able to pull off:
"Banning Back Home: The film cuts away to scenes of Peter Banning at work interspliced with scenes of his son’s baseball game. Williams takes the opportunity to show off his jazz background with a low-key piece that revolves around piano, percussion and bass-guitar. The modern style of music clashes with the rest of the score somewhat uncomfortably. This is not to its detraction, as Spielberg is, as he does so well (and so often), contrasting the pressures and confusion of adulthood with the innocence and magic of childhood. The piano solo is performed by Mike Lang"
5:00 *"TERRORISTS!!!!! How'd they get that baseball past security?"*
I understood that reference 😅
Back then security was loose
Xray
Happy Birthday Robin William Came Rescue Your Children Between Midnight At Nevermind
I hope I raise some smartass kids like these.
2:22 Don't worry, Jack. You'll get it next time.
1:11 Cell Phone Duel
And they said Peter didn’t have fun anymore.
@@abcdefghij337 Fun's important
So innocent at that age
He Is so good looking here...
5:00 Jump scare
Jack got back at his father for breaking his promise.
5:03 What I say to an immature person
The plane must have been flying through a storm. "Please enjoy the remainder of the flight." Be kinda hard to do with all that shaking.
Jack had every good reason to be mad at his Father… sure Peter didn’t mean to miss the game but he could have made a lot more of an effort to be there. Any game or stuff we had our Dad made sure he got out of work early… made sure there wasn’t a meeting or important dead line… now if he missed a thing he made sure to talk about it with us but it was rare he missed a game or play.
Especially for breaking his promise
My word is my bond where did i hear that saying before
Home run, Jack!
Peter Banning is the opposite of Daniel Hillard.
Definitely. More workaholic than Daniel. Doesn’t spend much time with his family unlike Daniel with his kids.
@andrewgardner8972 Daniel loved his children so much, he was willing to end his marriage for the sake of giving his daughter the perfect birthday party.
Of course she was 6 at the time a dam.good singer for 6 year old
Gotta admit tho. The grownups seemed to have pretty fun at their office.
🤣🤣
I understand the kid's fustration but he needs the belt.
I can understand Jack's frustration, but in any other case, Peter's right, the kid needs to clean up his act!
this is your capin speaking
This is not like the Disney version of Peter Pan
Well yeah, this is Peter Pan grown up.
This is what would happen to Peter Pan if he grew up.
Robin Williams has great talent for doing unusual movies. He would have been a great Willy Wonka too......
I strongly dislike Jack for being mean, immature, and inconsiderate towards his dad in this scene. If he became a husband and a father, then he’ll understand what it’s like having to work and work just to provide his family a nice life.
