You will know if you need the pocket, it is a Windows 10 - 7" pocket-able notebook - It is not for everyone but it is there
GPD Pocket in my opinion is just missing a better keyboard layout & an SD card slot ( somehow I forgot to add that in the video, I had the video footage but it probably got lost when I rerecorded the video )
That said I will have a video soon on how to update the Pocket's bios & tweak it for much better performance

Presentation I would say the Pocket for sure,
The large screen will help keep tabs on whats next
The mouse nub & touch screen can be handy with one hand
The keyboard even tho its not perfect, its going to again be handy to do a quick edit

Life Kommando So which one you said it can run steam games?..
I use gpd pocket for scripting, and programming.
For example android tracking and hack tools otg mainly.
It's really great for pentesting, great for consuming media, sharing work documents, dosbox games and old pc games.
For everything else android wise I use a shield portable.
And it's also nice to be used as a stream box.
I find it quite nice actually and don't really understand all the hate.
It's just not for "common" gamers.
Yeah it is not meant for gaming in anyway, I don't hate it, I actually do like what it is, but personally I just wish it had an SD card slot & a better keyboard layout. But it is there for someone who needs something like it

I have a later version of the GPD Pocket (blue mouse nub), and you most definitely can't hear the fan. I sometimes put it right up to my face, to feel the heat coming from the vent, just to tell if the fan is running. Battery life is also much improved.
I use it for social media, as I find it much more useful for replying to comments etc than any other portable device, and it's more conveniently sized for carrying around than a traditional laptop.
This is a great demonstration of how subjective "which is best?" type comparisons can be. I did a video on the same subject, and opinions being what they are, I came to some different conclusions. This is not to disagree with your views in any way... different people have different requirements, and perspectives, and I enjoyed seeing yours :)
If you watch my unboxing & initial review video I actually installed my own extra Thinkpad nub that I had laying around xD Its so much better. Yeah the video I think was more tailored for gaming, it is a great unit don't get me wrong, just 2 things that I would have liked to see is fixed the keyboard & an sd card slot, I do plan to do an update video about to go use it as a daily driver and see what happens

Life Kommando I'd be fine with another 720p screen if they use the extra resources for more processing power and a better gpu. I also like keyboard a lot, but would be ok with them removing it for more powerless
I'd like to see GPD available in bricks and mortar retail stores that I can physically visit like Argos or Currys or even Maplin.
Whatever you say about online retail taking over from the high street, devices in actual stores get way more attention.
GPD sells on AliExpress - gets a mention on TH-cam channels, only a niche audience get to know about it.
GPD sells in somewhere like Aldi or Asda/WalMart or Argos - gets a mention on daytime ITV and in the Metro newspaper, everyone gets to know about it, mainstream media start running articles entitled "What is emulation?" Daily Mail publishes article saying that just buying a GPD can get customers up to TEN YEARS in prison.
GeoNeilUK It definitely would become popular that way. But the issue I bet is GPD doesn't have the finances and resources to distribute it; you can see that how they only have limited amounts availible to purchase at a time.

I have both the GPD Win and the GPD XD, and this review is pretty accurate. I refrained from buying the GPD pocket because it doesn't have an SD card reader (Apparently copying Apple ruins expandability, connectivity and battery life, just like Apple). The only thing I'd add is that Wi Fi connectivity isn't very good on the GPD XD; barely two bars next to a wifi source.
Come on GPD ! Bring us a device with the guts and ports of the WIN, the screen of the POCKET and the speakers in the XD. You know you'll have my money.

Great video and comparison. I feel good about having bought my GPD Win a few months ago and your video reinforces that. I got mine on sale from NewEgg for $319 shipped. It is the latest version with the metal top and updated buttons etc... Really nice device. Still tempted to get the red XD with 64gb internal.

This was very informative. I own these devices as well and I agree with your analysis and review of each unit. I find the Gpd Pocket's screen to be wonderful, sorry about the keyboard layout though... My perfect amalgamation of a GPD unit would be:
1. 1080p OLED screen
2. The same titanium-ish build of the Gpd Pocket
3. GPD WIN 2 keyboard tech and layout
4. More built in hd space presented as an option to purchase for the customer.
5. Slightly bigger battery featuring more battery life. (heavier yes, but more playtime is better than less playtime)

I really need one since my legs start getting creaky and they start hurting if I sit to long (it's a bone problem), which is why I mostly stick to my Nintendo handhelds.

Once again, great video. This is like comparing a Prius to a Ferrari and focusing on gas mileage. I own the XD and the Win. I didn't get into video games until the Gamecube era, so I have no nostalgia for retro. After playing the only 2 N64 games I care about (Super Mario 64 and Conker), getting bored with Banjo Kazooie, and playing the fantastic Oddworld Stranger's Wrath android port, I got bored with the XD; most OS games are crap. Furthermore, my phone has a higher quality screen than it and I have a case with a stand for $5 to watch videos. However, I can't put my Win down, it's amazing. Tons of amazing PC games, even more with performance tweaks, and I've even been able to emulate a few GC and PS2 games well on it. Like Kommando said, the XD is more stable and less expensive for what it is but is super limited. The Win is more expensive and a little tricker but can do so much more. If you just want a cost effective efficient but boring and limited car, that's fine, but if you're willing to pay more for something that can do so much more and is a lot more fun, then go with the Win.

Steve Nordquist Maybe I'm not familiar with the higher quaility os and ios games but from what I saw with only a few exceptions, they're all either terrible versions of better games or microtransaction filled garbage. And most of the good games have superior pc versions anyways

Hey, thank you for this informative video. I am looking for a device, which can help me move files from my SD (not microSD, full size SD) card to a external USB drive on the go, for example on vacation. So I need two USB ports, as I need an external cardreader. Does this wirk with one of these devices? Solutions that come to my mind are either an converter for the USB-C port to an normal USB port, so that I can use the cardreader on this port. Another option would be an USB-hub, but that adds another device to carry around and makes the setup more bulky. Does anybody have informations regarding transfer speeds from USB to USB? That would help me a lot in my decision. Thanks in advance!

For me, I will use GPD Pocket for viewing my financial trading platform on the go if travelling, in the same time i can manage my automatic trading in my VPS remote desktop fully view, that was my main useful thing that i can do with GPD Pocket.

If you're a photographer and not a gamer, the GPD Pocket has the right size, weight, storage capacity, ports and OS for backing-up photos from your DSLR when travelling. I typically take close to a thousand photos when on a two-week travel and need to back-up large photo and video files. The internal storage along with usb storage can give me all I need to make sure I come home with every photo and video. I used to take a full-sized laptop, so this is great.

I have the gpd xd and it's a great little games machine; I've put the legacy 1.8 rom on it. I played the hell out of Mr Driller as well as occasional fighting games etc. I bought the gpd win with the hope of getting more advanced emulation to work but it's much more of a fuss to use - expected given it's a win10 vs android. The joypad on the win needs a bit of fussing around to get to work. And coupled with the relatively small disk space, I didn't really get into it and sold it on a while ago. I watched the crowdfunding for the pocket but didn't get tempted, maybe the next one...
What's your verdict for gpdxd plus Vs win,was going to get swim for better emus but I'll settle with my gpd XD ,want sega Saturn emu on my standard gpd xd

They just advertised the GPD Win 2. So far, a forum post in english on their chinese forum website detailing all the specs, and a few videos of what appears to be a working model/prototype in action playing games. No word on price, but they got all the specs.
6 hours gameplay, too. That's pretty tight, I'd get it just for the battery life.
Mi Ba it runs aaa games fairly well. Including fortnite, amazingly if you're wondering. I wonder if the XD will run the mobile version? Imagine the advantage...
I'm puzzled why the keyboard is criticised. Its pretty well as big as you can fit into a 7" laptop! Like every keyboard, you get used to it and if you are needing to type a novel on it then get a bigger computer or maybe get voice activated software installed!
I bought a used Gpd Pocket for around 230€. Cool netbook.

5.5 is way too small. they should have squeezed those bezels and fit the biggest display they can in there.
from the look of it, they could fit about 6.5 inches fairly easily.
i was in the market for one of these since i needed full windows on the go without carrying a laptop. it tunes out i found a better solution by just remote connecting to my desktop at home using a 5.5" android smarthphone with my unlimited data plan. much more simpple and cheaper. yall should consider that if you just need standard windows apps on the go

Can it run older-but-still-recent-ish games like, Battlefront 2 (2005), Knights of The Old Republic, and KOTOR 2? What about more recent games such as Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Oblivion, GTA IV, Mortal Kombat (2011), Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City, and Injustice Gods Among Us? What about modern games like Battlefront (2015), GTA V, Batman Arkham Knight, Injustice 2, MKX, and Fallout 4?

If you are talking about the GPD XD then yes I have ran PUBG Mobile on it and it ran pretty well
How is an Android device better for emulation than a Windows device? Windows can emulate everything from the Atari to Wii U, Android pretty much stops at GameCube

I'm disappointed the GPD XD has no Bluetooth (then again, I think it would have been nice to have GPD devices with built in mobile phone capability, but that would require different versions of the same model for different parts of the world)

On Steve Benway's video, I compared the devices as as follows...
The GPD XD is the modern version of the GamePark Caanoo.
The GPD Win is the modern version of the OpenPandora.
The GPD Pocket is the modern version of the Psion 5mx.
If Psion were still going I'm pretty sure they'd have put a far better keyboard on the Pocket (or even the Win) than GPD did.
The GPD Pocket is nothing like anything Apple would make. It has a headphone jack for a start...
I'm still hankering for a pocket RetroPie type device, would love to see something like that. You can buy kits the Raspberry Pi Zero, I'd prefer a kit for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module or SOPINE 64.

@@LifeKommando I am already trying to sell it. It was a bit too sluggish for my taste, it wouldn't even load casino games fully, it just got stuck. Awesome screen with vivid colors and beautiful device and excellent build quality. Also my used GPD Pocket looses charge way too fast, i am happy if i can get 2 hours with it when only surfing the web and checking out youtubevideos.

Umm... It can´t. It doesn´t have a dedicated GPU. It doesn´t have enough RAM and the processor is inadequate. It just doesn´t have the parts needed. Also Origins game files are like 40gigabytes and GPD Win has only 64 gigabytes of total memory. so Origins would use a lot memory and you couldn´t really have any other games. These are early prototypes and concepts. Maybe these things can run some AAA games in the future, but now it is too early. These are for simple gaming and playing some old games or running emulators.

Lol could u update the vid in summer, on a more serious note you may accidentally have convinced someone to pay $300 for the regular GPD XD on Amazon. Through that would become less significant if you mention the price in the video. Of course I haven't watched it yet so you probably have mentions a price hopefully that makes it so less people buy it on Amazon or Walmart. LOL the only way to get cheapest prices to buy on sketchy websites and eBay. I'm not saying gearbest is sketchy but to someone who has no idea who gearbest is could easily think it's a very sketchy website.
after thinking of it I bought GPD XD, it's cheaper and runs any emulator as the GPD Win... XD runs android games and Win runs some Windows... it's a matter of preference, but for double the price... I went with XD as the battery lasts way longer... very good for emulating up to PS1 games!
