Very nice! Can you recommend a good oil filter adapter/mount to go with my CB Performance 30mm Maxi Pump? I also will be running a setrab (susa) oil thermostat from/to the filter to/from a CB Atomic Cool Fan or a Setrab torsion mount fan, I haven't decided which yet. Can you recommend where to purchase a set of good blue an-8 fittings and braided lines? For what I'd like to see more of, I'd vote 1) the blue super stocker 2) Your flyin' ragtop oval 3) That turbo green car with the widened fiberglass fenders. I have a buttload of vw racing parts and I watch everything you do to become a better builder. Thank you - Ted
Looks and sounds good. I remember when I built a 2180 (40yrs ago!) I recall reading a Hot VW magazine about what size engine to build. There answer was just go big, it's close to the same money. Maybe I'm just dumb here, but why does someone stop at a 74mm crank? I get it that there is more machining with larger strokes but it looks like that had already been done.
1) rod ratio/rod length (cost) 2) engine width 3) deck height/comp ratio When I was 17 I pushed the limit and built a (IIRC) 78.4 x 90.5 and used stock (uprated bolts, clearanced) rods, normal pin offset pistons, 110 cam, relatively mild valve springs, and no barrel shims or head o-rings. The deck height was right at the minimum tolerance to prevent piston/head impact (11 thou? 13? Something like that). The comp ratio was over 10:1 but the close deck meant quench prevented detonation. Even with 91 octane ca/nv/az pissy premium. But head temp plays into that compression ratio situation; this was a doghouse fan inside an oem 36 hp shroud. I modified the backing plate and fan hub spacer to fit the bigger fan in the smaller shroud to help avoid high temps on hot days. I proceeded to daily drive and deliver pizza (!!) every night (blasting Metallica ajfa lol) in that car for about a year until I sold it to get a 5.0 😂 It was faster when I sold it than the (automatic with 2.73 gears) 5.0 when I bought it. Better days gone by lol Anyway hope that answers the question.
Sounds great ! What size are the squirt jets and exhaust valves ? On return to idle, do you encounter a dip in return to idle?? Great job you did. Thanks.
@volkstroke Got a beetle again 63, I just have to get out of my debt, and then yes, sir, 1 part at a time. Keep the videos coming. By the way the 40 hp in the convertible video is awesome too that's what I'm trying to bring back now.
How many sets of silverline main bearings do you go through until you get good tolerances? I have 3 sets so far and I still can't get everything in spec
Nice job, David. I watch your vids from Spain. Would this engine run with a single 40 IDF for daily use? How many HP can I expect? Gracias y sigue así, hermano.
I see you were cranking it over for a while with no plugs in it, Was that just to build oil pressure? and or cam and lifter wear? how long do you crank it? or are you looking for a certain pressure? After it starts, you are running at a higher RPM? Is that for cam and lifter run in? Rings to seat? How long? What RPM?
Yes to everything just want to see 40 lbs or 60 and the. Just Tun at 3000 for 15 minutes twice then make it idle at 1000 and have it do that for another gallon of gas
Did not have any ports in my IG I have one similar 126 hp 148 tq 125 cam 9.8 stainless small valve 500 casting head must don’t expect good results on stock heads
Tks…currently I have a Pertronix Flamethrower dissy SVDA & coil on a 1904 w/dual 36 Dellorto. Would you chose the CB P full kit over Pertronix? I’m being told the CB P full kit is much better!
Clean build for a good cause.
God Bless you.
Yes, thank you
Runs like a Swiss watch. Awesome!
Man talk about attention to detail. Your builds are impressive and just look and sound amazing. Keep it up!
Thank you
Sounds amazing, nice build
Thanks!
Wooooow, thanks for the tip. The plates came out really nice 🔥👍🏽
Awesome build, can't wait for the next vid!!!!
Coming soon!

Okay sir copy I recomend the geers engineering reusable filter
And for fittings and hose I only use Tftp Teflon from Deeeing industrial in Long Beach
Awesome bro!!
Thanks ✌️

Just because it’s a lowered car and it’s an easy combo to put together small rod puts the deck height close to 0 just a easy build
74 is easy to built and robust 👍
1) rod ratio/rod length (cost)
2) engine width
3) deck height/comp ratio

Sounds sweet!!!
What kind of Crankshaft was that with all the holes in it and was it for weight
Dpr custom German
Excellent!😁👍
I did a build almost exactly like that but with 42 DCNFS! RAD!
Good stuff
Good vibration thanks given LUV ❤ALONE ❤RASTAFORI
I am the 100th thumbs up! 🎉🎉🎉🎉. Where is my prize? Lol.
Love the editing. 😂😂😂

Carburetors were allegedly rebuilt by jayybut the shafts are bad and vibrate so Garry Berg is going to fix them monday
Say Hi to Gary when you drop the carbs😊
He said he don’t want to fix them
Man my dream motor
🤓
Start by buying one piece at a time

I have bags of them 2 sometimes 4 it’s usually the centers but I use og kolbe on high RPM engines not this one
Hello, is it good to install a windage on a CB 2017 140 hp motor? Or is it needed?
Windage ? Never have I ever done that
@@volkstrokethank you. Are you located in LA? I’m looking for someone to build my CB Performance motor? What do you charge? Thanks
@@romeozardo5034 I’m in La I charge 1650 to long block and 550 to turn key and run it breake it in and tune it to be ready to install
@@volkstrokeok thank you. I’m located in Modesto CA. Waiting on CB to finish my order. When I’m ready what’s the best way to contact you?

Not sure single Weber is not ideal. They were designed to run as duals
@@volkstroke Thanks. Nice vids.
Hay buddy I want to increase cubes like you and do a 90.5 x 74 do you think an original case could work or what do you think thanks 😊
Yes, definitely will be doable
@@volkstroke thank you 😊
Why did you pick 48IDAs ???
She really wanted them on the car it’s kinda sentimental
Obrigado.
Thanks buddy
Otimo trabalho David.
how do you polish your motor so bright in race bug
Take it to a polisher
I get a lot stuff done
A little squirt of what in the spark plugs holes before fire up? motor oil?
Yes oil
6:10 6:25 & 7:50 oil pressure drops to 0 curious what caused that ?
It never went to 0 gauge it’s upside down lowerst it went was 20
The oil plungers needed more cleaning up
No power cooling tins? Are you looking to melt the engine down?
Air deflectors are there, pushrod tubes are just extra shiny.
@@volkstroke awesome
Sounds awesome, do you have an estimated HP for this build? Thanks!
100hp
what exhaust is this ??
great build !! 👍
We sell it for 599$
How much that engine cost? And how many hp? Beatiful sound👍👍
It’s about 12k to collect the parts

Dave wondering why you chose 1904. Would a 2017 keep it small but little more HP and Torque.
What’s a 2017?
Sorry 2007
Sorry to hear he passed another clean build nice now hurry up😅
Eres un genio brother
Cuanto sale un motor así
Y que bujias recomiendas?
Depende de 12 a 14
Oh did you figure out the HP? I plan to build one just like this in the future. Can you list the parts and specs?
No dyno we just sent it it’s just a cruiser
Did not have any ports in my IG I have one similar 126 hp 148 tq 125 cam 9.8 stainless small valve 500 casting head must don’t expect good results on stock heads
Very cool. I bet it is a nicer cruiser. Thinking about using the Holley Sniper FI.
@@FixinBugsNStuff oh I’m not a fan of FI

Dave forgot to ask. Why IDA and not IDF?
She’s committed to the looks and her husband’s dream
Cruiser with IDA’s
Help me understand this
Here in LA we run IDAs k. Everything don’t ask me why we just do it’s a very common thing
What sealant you guys recommend to close de case
12-11
Or Honda
Bond
How long will this engine last as a daily driver
100k
