Thank you for revisiting the floop, it has been my saving grace for the last 3 years for my weekly cardio mtn bike fix for a busy dad that also works a lot. I followed your trail guide years ago and been a fan since. Thank you as always Tony. 👍

Such a privilege for all the Fullerton locals to have this at their disposal! Why can't every neighborhood have one of these?? lol ;-)

I've been riding the Floop since the late 80s, and I still enjoyed watching this.
Fun facts: The Floop was developed between 1981-1983 by Richard Cunningham, (Yes, the pinkbike guy,) who made Mantis mountain bikes locally. The main Floop is 11-12 miles, but there are something like 38 miles of connected extra credit.
The Juanita Cooke trail was an electric railbed in the 1920s and 30s for people to commute from La Habra to Fullerton.
The railroad track that partially parallels Bastanchury and goes under Juanita Cooke, (used between Hiltscher & Parks, and then on the backside from Juanita Cooke to the Golf course,) was part of the Anaheim Branch and connects the Slauson railyard with the Anaheim railyard. It was in use until 2003, (Always an adventure using those segments in the 80s and 90s.)
The harsh climb after you cross Euclid is known as Little Wicked. The extra credit off of Castlewood is known as Blair Witch. The backside of Nora Kutner is known as Mormon Hill, (Probably because of the adjacent tabernacle.)
There's an extra credit loop on the east side called Panorama that takes you over to Summit House and connects you to Craig Park.
For years, a self-supported 24 hour ride called the Tour de Tryptophan was held the day after Thanksgiving. I believe the record stands at 19 laps of the Floop.

I checked out your videos on the loop before going for the first time.
You weren't kidding, it definitely is a work out, those climbs creep up on you.
Im a newbie, haven't developed my leg muscles, had to take some breaks to rest my legs.
Slow as heck but I completed it in 2hrs/15mns.
    Thank you for posting!

not sure if anyone commented this already, but when crossing euclid at 3:45 there is a steeper part only a few feet ahead which you cant see until you get there, not very long of course but its one of the steeper parts of the loop and fun to hit
edit: there's also a pretty fun little singletrack that you can take if you turn right at 14:33 shortly after leaving the tunnel

14:45 I like to go left at the dam. Lots of extra credit! Go all the way to the left and go up, up, up, up, up, up. The trail at the top goes really fast and ends at the Lyons Field “Stairs”. Thanks for the video Tony!

Just started mountain biking, or biking in general, about a month ago. Followed your great Fullerton loop guide and rode the loop a couple of weeks ago for the 1st time on my old Giant hardtaik. Even though I had to walk half of the uphills, but the whole experience was so much fun. Now I ride the Castlewood trail almost every day. My goal is to be able to finish the loop on paddles by the end of the year. What a fun way to excercise.

After Euclid, at the top of the climb you can go right and follow the road as it curves, when it hits the T go left and it puts you at the light to safely cross brea Blvd as well. Ride on 🍻

Great guide! Brings back fun memories as this place was my local spot, only 20 mins from my house until I moved to TX at the beginning of this year. After a number of attempts, the first time I successfully navigated the place was after watching your original trail guide! That Nora Kutner climb was always my nemesis. I was once grinding to a halt there when a a guy on a vintage delivery bike complete with dog in the basket up front blew past me.
