Thomas Frank is criminally underrated. He's competent in all styles: possession and counter-attacking. He's very nordic in that sense. A nordic player will be good technically, sound defensively and that's about it. Not too much skill. Just sound. That's how i rate this manager: he's averse to risk, unalike Emery or Dezerbi.
He didn’t reveal anything that the other 19 Premier League managers didn’t already know about Brentford - they all study each other’s tactics and game plans.
What an honest man talking about his team tactics. I'm certain he will make slight adjustments and tweaks when he gets to team training knowing the opposition coaches would have tuned in to watch his narration on Sky. Brilliant guy!
To think he was Dean Smith's assistant manager yet he turned out to be a certified premier league class manager whereas Dean Smith is a regular/basic British coach 😮

I'm a Forest fan and we swapped from our usual back 3 to a back 4 tonight against Burnley and it would be interesting to see what Steve Cooper was thinking about and what strategies he thinks of when he made that decision.

For me one of the best managers in the Pl. Brentford is always tactically prepared for every opponent. Especially the stats against big 6 sides ist remarkable. There isnt any team right now who is as good as them against „better“ teams.
Ngl, i wanted a team to support a team in the PL so landed on brentford 2-3 years ago wgen i heard they didnt release a new jersey which would help the fans, since then my decision to stick with em over a small insignificant thing like that has revealed a rapidly rising dark horse. I know some in this comment section will day hes not underated and already seen as great, but i think we still havent acknowledged how great. Statistically they are only worse than man city at set pieces and produce xG for and against that you would expect of vig 6 teams and did this with a recently promoted club using moneyball tactics. I genuinely believe with Toney returns and 1-2 top tier to world class editions, they see european football very soon, seeing as it seems just qualitative factors expected from players in this price range. I hope they keep a nice and steady moneyball approach to continually creep up the pl table till they are not just potential upsets but contenders.
For what its worth, my team Liverpool seemingly has issues at times with teams who go to 3 at the back. Imagine some of the other big teams do as well.Just one little thing...
Now, imagine this coach with a West Ham. Even a Chelsea. Doing wonders with average players and efficient tactics. Sad he gets looks past for jobs. West Ham with him would be a top 6-7 every season. Difficult to beat and always a goal threat.
It's not just him though. It's the whole structure of the club. Look what happened with Potter who were doing wonders with Brighton but completely failed at Chelsea. I wouldn't want Frank going down that same path - I'd much rather he stay at Brentford and perhaps in a couple years time, they could be challenging for Europe.
Everton were floating between 4th and 7th for years, then the manager got sacked less than a year in to his step up and was never given another shot. Now Potter is the walking advert for why you don't want to make that jump as a manager. The Prem doesn't allow for managers to take steps up the way other countries do. You can win the FA Cup and finish 6th with a team that isn't your own yet and still get sacked for missing out on CL money. Frank could take over Chelsea tomorrow and he'd be sacked by the end of March.
Well most top teams are going to understand how the opposition plays, it’s not like it’s something you can hide when you have expect analytics departments at every club
Teams like man city have a whole team of people doing homework for pep. Some managers are obsessive and may do it themselves (for example, I think Bielsa was famous for this), but I don't think all managers are scrubbing every second from every game.
