- If pastor Salvatore represents "Progressive Christianity" then we need to start realizing that this isn't just another stream of Christian thought, it is a false gospel trying to replace the true one. Jesus is merely being highjacked by some who want to utilize His fame for their unchristian cause.

@@Michaelh76 that is kind of how I understand it as well we have God like powers in the image of God and have free will as God has free will we are also free to choose hell and choose to be our own gods and we will suffer the punishment for doing so because we chose it, because we cannot fathom or appreciate or choose salvation through Jesus Christ, for some reason some cannot accept the gift.
I choose the gift even though I am completely undeserving I will still accept the gift the trick is acting grateful being truly grateful and living one's life out in that gratitude of salvation.

@@michaelsorensen7567 I'm certainly not on Pastor Mike's level of being able to answer questions on the fly, but I'll try my best here.
Just reading the passage around that verse, it seems primarily to be about living a life forsaking sin. Paul mentions in verse 13 that if we live according to the flesh we will die, but if we, by the Spirit, put to death the deeds of the flesh we will live. Dying and living in this context seem to refer to the next life.
Verse 14 says those led by the Spirit are God's sons, verse 15 says we are sons because we have received the spirit of adoption. Verse 16 says the Holy Spirit Himself testifies to this adoption. Verse 17, if children, then heirs of God with Christ. Side note, it doesn't say we *are* Christ.
Now, it says we are children and heirs IF we suffer with Him. What does it mean to suffer with Christ? Obviously, Paul isn't saying we should all suffer crucifixion - besides, that would be suffering *as* Christ, not *with* Christ.
It seems that he is referring to being rejected by this world as we live our lives for Christ. This seems to flow nicely between rejecting the sins of the flesh, in the beginning of the chapter, with all of creation (and ourselves) groaning for the redemption from this life and the redemption of our bodies at the end of the chapter.
That's my quick understanding (and 2 Corinthians 1:5-7 seem to agree). Now I have to get off my phone and get back to work. :)

I am new to Christianity and I have to thank many pastors on TH-cam for their unapologetic explanations of the Bible. I haven't been drawn to God for ease - I am a sinner and I want to change my life for the better. Thank you for warnings like this. I only fear people like me are falling into their trap.

I can give you some good pastors to name a few I recommend, Billy Ghram, Tony Evans, Charles Stanley , Paul washer. Richard Lorenzo is a young pastor but has good sermons , videos and messages as well.

As someone whose fallen for false teachings in the past, I can't stress enough how important it is to study the scriptures for ourselves instead of putting our faith in ministers and pastors. Lack of biblical knowledge makes us easy prey, and it's an absolute MINEFIELD out there!
Measure EVERYTHING against the scriptures. If you are not sure, keep looking. People like Mike Heiser and Mike Winger are a good place to start. Not saying EVERYTHING they say is chiseled in stone truth, but I've never heard them say anything blasphemous or heretical. Some denominations may see things differently, but they still have the basic gospel down pat. You might also want to check Dr. J. Vernon McGee, and Mr. Les Feldick, Adrian Rogers and similar folks. At least you won't get anything too radical with those guys. 🙏✝️🙏
Yes yes yes! Even me I know scripture pretty well (not boasting!!) and even sometimes I find myself asking myself oh my goodness am I right? After talking to a Muslim or morman or Jehovah witness. But then I refer back to Scripture and yes we are right Jesus is God and Jesus is the ONLY way. it is CRUCIAL CRUCIAL to know scripture extremely well and understand context EXTREMELY well.

I went to a progressive Christian church that was led by a black lesbian preacher, as far away from the patriarchy as you can get. The thing was their lives were indistinguishable from non-believers. I then went to a real Christian church and I was amazed to see so many people trying to their best to live a Godly life and they had a peace in their eyes that I didn't see in the progressive church
It’s so interesting because the Bible is quite clear on sexual immorality, and that the Bible permits sex only in the context of marriage, which is explicitly between a man and a woman, with the intention of multiplying.
Something that has been really helpful for me to spot false prophets lately is really studying the Bible and knowing the Word
It was difficult to see before but now, armed with knowledge of the Word, we can better fight and slay falsehoods like the one in the video

Recently left a Bible study group because the facilitator was using John 10:34 and Psalm 82:6, to teach that "we are little gods", and I rebuked him, politely, telling him that failure to acknowledge the context creates a pretext for error, and that when you read the context of both those chapters, they are verses of rebuke, that you don't want to apply to yourself. I got told I a spreader of discord amongst the brethren, and didn't know what I was talking about...I kindly apologized to him, saying, "I'm sorry my Bible offends your bad hermeneutics", and left. I was shocked to discover multiple people also left, because he's also teaching people how to speak in tongues, give each other spiritual gifts, activate the Holy Spirit, and that when a person accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior, they will never sin again. Not sure what Bible he's reading from, but NONE of the translations I've read teach these things. Of course you'd believe you can do all of those things, if you believe you are a god!! Such a shame
Sounds like word of faith teaching (prosperity gospel) when I became a Christian I was deep into word of faith and believed that same way. Bless you for getting away. God saved me from it years ago praise God

Not sure if you delved into Buddhist sutras and suttas but this is not Buddhism. There is quite the vast difference from Buddhism in terms of orthodox Buddhist views and new age syncretized Buddhism. “Divine Self, all of you are gods” is something someone may post with a Buddha picture as a quote but has no authority or real authenticity in the Suttas and such. An idea of ‘self’ is the very delusion which keeps trapped in worldly delusion. The whole ideal of Buddhistic view is to end the idea of ‘self’ and worldliness [eight worldly winds and the fetters of carnality]. I’m saying this in the view of a religious study not as someone who prescribes to one view fighting another so don’t mistake that from me here. But as someone who studies religion it is quite a problem to see new age western-Buddhist syncretism mixed with Orthodox Buddhism and then generalizing all of Buddhism (whether in the Theravada or Mahayana schools) with western new age influenced movements which does glorify the self and self-desire [the very obstacle to liberation per Buddhist text)

I’m most of the way through your video, and it seems to me that everything Sal has to say is to justify life as we want it and not living for God. I too had this moment of awakening some odd years ago the Lord stripped me down to where I had almost nothing. I was laying down in an empty bedroom, because I have no furniture, the bedroom was dark, because I had no lamps not even even a candle. At that moment he removed the scales from my eyes, so to speak, and I saw that this empty and dark room that I was lying down in was my life. Once I realized that, without reason, realizing it I, like Job, had an awakening when God offered me eternal and life, in Jesus. at 66 years old, I continue to learn and I am thankful for it and for teachers like yourself: God has given you a gift. I appreciate it. Over the years I have learned that I am as the epistles teach us, wretched man, and without Christ, I am nothing and can do nothing but through him all things are possible. I am in a very, very different place now than I was 25 years ago, and I still struggle with my “old nature end” I am so thankful to the Lord, for showing me what I was, and then what I could be through him, and most importantly, who he is. a wonderful savior we have! I was so moved when at the part where he said "use the Christ, Mike" and he Christed all over. Man, this is infuriating in so many levels.
I'm just now seeing this video one year after you put it out. I am a conservative Christian with strong inner conflict with this theology. Nelville Goddard seems to have said some similar things. I do pray for Truth and have been reading the Bible more and more. Thank you for your videos.

I cannot imagine the pain that you are experiencing. It must be similar to watching a loved one overdosing again and again. Never knowing if this will be the last time you will ever see them again. The heart wrenching knowledge that they are self destructing and you feel as if you have no power to stop it. The fact that they are adults and have made this decision doesn’t make us feel any better. You just want to make everything better. To know they are safe. I am so sorry you are going through this and my heart goes out to you. As Christians, we want nothing more than knowing our loved ones are safe in Jesus’ arms. So I pray that you seek out the comfort that only Jesus can give you and rest in the knowledge that he knows your pain and will walk through this with you. 🙏

This guy’s twisted scripture is so similar to Neville Goddard, a 1950s “mystic” I was really heavily into. I only went to read the Bible because he quoted it so often I figured I’d go read it myself to cut out the middle man ... THANK GOD, He opened my eyes to see the Truth. Praise the Lord.

A Methodist pastor in Jonesboro, AR, whose progressive denominational authorities took away everything material they had, said recently that there are so many conservative Christians needing conservative pastors.Praise the Lord, our church in San Salvador has no denominational ties making us go woke.

I was fully on board with all of this for decades. I left my Lutheran church to find answers. I looked through all of the isms. Ultimately I saw all of these quests for the perfection of the personal self as a Luciferian project and ultimately evil. It is a deception that traps the well meaning seeker. I will say it’s a massive amount of work to try and take yourself on and make yourself perfect. It is a mess of confusion, of astral perception, intuition development, personal questing, self-development courses and books, amorphous belief systems and pop new-age psychology.
The confusion is the source of the identity. Our personal selves are not Gods. Only God and Christ in us is God. We must do the opposite of what these New Age teachers profess of perfecting the personal self, we must see the personal self as perpetually imperfect and flawed, and only in relationship with God can we find wholeness.
I was a New Ager and deeply into the Law of Attraction. I even taught how to "manifest your own reality." I too was convinced that Jesus said we were gods and would do even greater things than he. It took a long time and a major wakeup call to realize that this kind of teaching would land me in hell. "Progressive Christianity" is a misnomer because what it actually is, is "Satanism lite." It's the exact same pride-filled seduction that the serpent whispered into Eve's ear in the Garden. The devil isn't really creative; he's been repeating the same lie for millennia: Do this, and you can be like God. Time is running out to play around; the time is here to choose sides. There's no more time for lukewarmness and a non-committal attitude. You're either on God's side or on Satan's side-there is no middle ground.

After 2 years of being a pastor in the U.C.C., the Lord was pleased to save me and bring me to the truth of the gospel and make me his own. Notice the commas on this “pastor’s” stole: The motto of the U.C.C. is “God is still speaking” and they famously quote “Gracie Allen” as the prophetess of their theology: “Never place a period where God has placed a comma.” So this is where this deluded theology ends up-and this man is just one among many in this dying denomination that is preaching the same or similar falsehood. He is also taking his theology from another heretical Christian and false teacher, Matthew Fox, and his book, “The Coming of the Cosmic Christ.” At any rate, I will keep my “limited” faith in the Christ of Scripture, who saves sinners from perishing under the righteous judgment of God. I’m so grateful for your having taken the time to expose this false teacher and your ongoing work in apologetics.

I played the intro for my 11 year old son after I watched it, to use as a teaching moment. I said, "you know those spot the differences picture games? Well, I want you to listen and spot the lies in this video." Preparing our children for the Godlessness of this world is so important. That very first clip you showed I heard word for word at a bethel youthgroup.
I am 64 years of age; so, during my youth, there were plenty of printed resources to study the Bible. Loved the congregation I grew up at, particularly for the kind of pastor we had. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and very dedicated to preach God’s Word faithfully. He always treated the Scripture with reverence. He also said numerous times that, as much time as he spent teaching us God’s Word (Acts 20:27), he challenged us to be like the Berean Jews, who examined the scriptures available to them to judge whether the Apostle Paul was speaking from the Scriptures or out of his own intellect and biases. Now, more than ever, there’s no excuse to remain ignorant in regards to knowing God’s Word, for there are a ginormous amount of resources available to all… whether printed, video-graphic, audio-phonic, or digital.
Therefore, one of the essential duties of a pastor is, “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” -Ephesians 4:11, 12. Regrettably, many pastors, teachers, evangelists are failing miserably in that area! Moreover, is is the duty of every true Christian to earnestly study their Bibles as in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, PROPERLY HANDLING THE WORD OF TRUTH.” (emphasis mine).
But, now we are being witnesses to a growing number of congregations whose supposed spiritual leaders are misinterpreting the Scriptures, which is a blasphemy to God, and they do it to fit their personal aberrant lifestyle and agendas. And what we see is a vicious, evil circle of false ministers leading the congregations, while their “Christians” shower their preacher with their limited earnings. You don’t see them following the instructions of Gods Word, but as I mentioned before, doctrines of demons. The members also are after money themselves, and because of that, they follows the false gospel financial affluence, rather than salvation of the soul through. Christ!. That will lead them to hell if they do not repent and turn away from the sin of avarice! Sad to say, but, those church members consent with their applause whatever lies, whatever blasphemies such a condemned ministers of darkness feed the ignorance of the congregants!
One final comment: there should not be any doubt that, any “spiritual leader” who explain the Bible in direct opposition to its true message, is NOT a Christian, but is a false teacher! God Himself would no allow any of his ministers to preach, or teach falsehood; for such a contradiction is identified as “doctrines of demons”. 1 Timothy 4:1 teaches, “But the Spirit says expressly that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons…” To every single Christian who has been truly redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, understands this!
What you mentioned around 42:30 is exactly what happened to me. I was in a very progressive church and started reading the scriptures for myself. When I started noticing contradictions, I asked a bunch of questions which they could not or did not want to answer. That was a clear indication from the Holy Spirit that it was time for me to leave.
Look at what Mike does, too. He skips over what being reborn is, that we are spirit, not bodies and then goes to saying you must believe in Jesus...but believing in Jesus is to transform ourselves from bodies to spirit, not just saying we believe.
When people inspect others lives and then laugh at them as Mike does, you can expect Mike to do what he is finding fault in the other guy for, that is skipping Scripture.

This poor guy has fallen for the oldest trick in the book. Genesis 3:4-5 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
@Azreth Gen 3:22 says they have become like him, in that the knowledge of good and evil is a trait that God also has (and until that point only God had that knowledge), humans have it now to but that doesn't make them gods. In Ps 82 the context is that these are not actually gods because they "will die like mere mortals." God will exercise His authority over them. Then in John, Jesus is making the argument that if these people were referred to as gods than how much more does He, the One God sent into the world, deserve that title.

Interesting side note is that a lot of churches will probably read a letter like that if you send them one and a few here and there will take the criticisms on board especially if you have a scriptural/traditional basis for your claims, for example the youtuber "Redeemed Zoomer" is doing this exact thing with the Presbytarian Church in the US by sending them Martin Luther style emails with his complaints about the liberalism of the church and he's having a significant amount of success for one random university student, so if your church or one close to you is doing these things it's not out of the question to just channel your inner Paul and get writing

I finally saw Jesus almost a year ago and was baptized. Although I now can hear all the lies and evil in sermons like this and the way my old friends and mom talk, I don’t yet fully know how to intelligently discuss their misinterpretation!! It’s frustrating because I feel drawn to help get others out of that movement too because of what Jesus did for me. So thank you Pastor Mike for the education and clearly laying this out!!

I'm a 'layman' that reads the Bible everyday and other books as well. Nowhere in the Bible does it say we are all gods. With an open heart the Bible is pretty easy to follow.

We have become so afraid of hurting someone’s feelings that we don’t stand up for what is right. I cannot control how someone reacts to a situation, but I can determine how much I can take before I draw a line in the sand. We are so nice that our beliefs are being eradicated from around the world, in our schools, and from our children. And I have been told by my own father that I am too nice. So I understand why we don’t react when others are mean to us. But there comes a time when someone has to say that this is wrong. When did we become such cowards? If we don’t stand up for our ideals, who will? It is the people who create the most noise that get attention. Not us who are afraid to offend. However, I have never followed the crowd or wanted to be part of a click. Since I was five years old, I have followed Jesus and Jesus alone. Taking a stance and not budging earns respect. They may never like you but they will respect your decision. Haters will hate. I have not and will never own that. Their response is their responsibility. I am not confrontational as a rule. I stand where I stand. They may walk around me but they can’t go through me. I will show compassion when it is due. I believe that this man has heard everything possible to refute his beliefs. He has chosen to denigrate everything associated with Christianity while still claiming to be a church of Christ. Do you honestly think that anything we have to say will change his mind? Only a miracle will redirect his path. He is so encased in Satan’s grasp that nothing short of Jesus himself will change his mind. I find him frightening. When I watched his video, it felt as if Satan himself was reaching out to crab everyone in sight. I have only felt that a few times in my life and never want to experience it again. I prayed for hours before I could go to sleep. This man is the embodiment of everything that Satan represents. He shrouds it in love and understanding. It is a beautiful garment that covers all the things that are perverted and rotting to the soul. It looks fantastic while it eats at you like acid. This "pastor"'s insinuation that Jesus proclaiming Himself as God and as the only way to salvation is "narcissistic" is perhaps the most heretical part of his sorry excuse for a sermon. I absolutely hate how people view the Most High Absolutely Perfect Creator of All, God, proclaiming His authority as "narcissistic" or "tyrannical", yet believe that they themselves can redefine reality and the gospel as they see fit.

This man is scary. Satan telling Adam and Eve, "your eyes will be opened and you will be like God" (Gen. 3:5) is pretty much the mold for this guy's "gospel"; what an abomination. The idea of this supposed awakening to our own divinity by reinterpreting God's word while disobeying what He actually commanded us to do... is eerily familiar. I watched the whole sermon. I'm fighting back tears because I literally feel like I was transported back into time and was ease dropping on satan's conversation with eve. This makes me believe the gospel even more. An older lady in my former church would describe this as -"The devil telling on himself"

Wow thank yo for covering these progressive Christians, I came out of the Anglican church, and haven't ever been able to settle I to a church since I was saved in 2020, I was baptised and everything in the Anglican church but you never really heard the gospel so thays why I left, and we were fighting demonic possessions I the family, and so many churches wouldn't or couldn't help, praise Jesus that he sent a man of God, he's woth the LoRd now, but God told him we needed help, he moved from a city to where we li Ed and saved us, I repented for my homosexuality and praise GOD for his mercy, I didn't know the full extent of spiritual warfare or that homosexuality was a demon, a spirit, I was abused as a child, and thongs just happened growing up, abused as a teenager, then I was at a hostel where a psychiatrist abused me and other young men, I took him to court, long story, but thee churches hold such people, I've forgiven him and all who've hurt me, and abused me, but sometimes I if not everyday I fall short, thays why I need Jesus every day praise the LORD, for he is merciful and he's saved me so many times even when my backwash tured, he could have allowed me to die, but he didn't, I thank him every day. I love him praise his name hallelujah 🙌 🙏

I mean John 14:6 completely rebukes his message. “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father, except through me.’” (NIV)
His sermons are clearly depended on his audience not reading any of the Bible for themselves, and just taking his word for it. Anyone who has glanced over the Bible more than a couple times would immediately see the red flags pop up.
Fair but isn't that also true for churches today? They depend on the pastor to interpret the Bible in sermons and messages.
The Bible has si much treasure to unpack but i understand why people rely on pastors because it can be a lot to handle and seems almost intimidating to start the search.

If you would have been born in Iran you would be praying to Allah 5 times a day. If you would have been born before the Bible was written you would have been polytheistic. If you would have been born before the Reformation you would have been confessing to the priest. If you were born in Israel you wouldn't believe Jesus is the messiah. If you look at human history, very few people have been given the truth that you claim.

Jesus does not say the elect will be deceived, He says that we would be deceived if that were possible. He's saying that the lies will be so convincing, that only those who do not know the truth will be deceived.
