Wow Allysa you really hit nerves. So many progressives her commenting and lashing out. Teaching us exactly how to pray for them. What's your describing is universalism. They say the Christian name. But it's really just basically the teaching of the universal universalist Church it sounds like.
It isn’t evil. It’s removing the evangelical hate and exclusion from Faith. The Bible was given from God but it isn’t all God is. Her speech reeks of evil, justifying excluding those not like her. As usual, epitomizing the burning desire conservatives have to control and dominate people who believe differently.
8:38 Theres different rewards in heaven sure, i would just argue that wealth doesnt exist in the system down here without dominating, hurting and exploiting people.
We live for the almighty, he does not live for us. For we do not deserve to be forgiven but the father through his divine grace sent us his only begotten son to save us from our sins! Praise the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings for he is God! ❤❤❤❤
“Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up. We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this.” 2 Corinthians 4:1-2 NLT
This is an excellent video. I came out of a church with a couple pastors who were more progressive and am now at a church that is much more traditionally orthodox. On the subject of panentheism, I wonder what to do with verses in Colossians like 3:11 "Christ is all and is in all" or 1:17 "in him all things hold together". Maybe I'm just misreading these out of their context or something, but they seem to hint at something of Christ being throughout all things.
This saddens me as a born-again Christian. Deception is the work of the evil one, and progressive "christianty" is his masterpiece. The Bible calls this apostasy. My prayer is that those who are blinded by this false religion will hear the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and receive Him as Lord and Savior.
Hi Alisa Childers, I am a progressive Christian. For point five, you said "you don't ask questions because you want to know answers." I can tell you, though, that progressive Christians such as myself are interested in knowing answers. I started studying philosophy and theology because I wanted to understand the different answers that people give to my questions and try to find out which one is true, if that is possible.
Christians should be getting their answers from the Bible, not mortal men, philosophers and ideologues. I pray you ask The Holy Spirit for guidance! 🙏🏻❤️
Keep asking questions jb. God doesn't want intellectually lazy people. That is why he gave us the freedom to choose. He wants us to come to him of our own free will. Most of this is just bunk.
@@jennyknapp3332 that is a strange philosophy. The Bible is not a book of answers. That is reductionist. It doesn't explain why gravity works or why there is a universe or why we humans have lungs and live on land instead of having gills and living in the water (most of the surface of our planet is covered by water after all). The Bible is the living Word. A record of the way people experienced the One True God.
The Bible is about God and not about people. Turning the Bible into an instruction manual is antithetical to faith and trust. We see in a mirror dimly... and that is the intention of our current experience with God. One day we will be able to see Him clearly, but today is not that day.
@@EleventhHour78Why gravity is a thing, or why we are land creatures; the answers to such questions are not necessary for our Salvation. If those answers were important, they'd certainly be found in The Bible. Answers to important questions, such as "Are we condemned, and if so, why?" or "How should we behave, how should we relate to our families, and treat others?" or "What is the path to Eternal Salvation?"- those ARE found in The Bible.
If Jesus Christ is NOT the basis of your doctrine and the center of your teachings, and more importantly, if Jesus Christ is not the ONLY WAY, thus your religion can NOT be named CHRISTIANITY
Speaking as a Progressive Christian, I think you provided a pretty good summary. However, I have a few minor corrections. You said that we aren't asking questions to get answers and that thinking we have answers makes our peers see us as less enlightened. That's not entirely accurate. We do seek answers, but we recognize that the answer I come up with and the answer you come up with may not be the same answer, and we are okay with that. I don't think any of us would claim that we have definitive knowledge on anything that is unprovable, but we certainly would be able to claim that we found an answer that makes sense to us. I'm a pantheist (unlike most Progressive theologians who are panentheists). Some pantheists do see God as a synonym for the universe, but I don't think I've met a Christian pantheist who believes that. Many of us believe - as Lutheran theologian Dr. Paul Tillich said - God is "existence itself" or "the ground of being". Or, as Rev. Dr. Caleb J. Lines said, 'I like the idea about thinking of all living things connected by a web. Whenever something happens at one point in the web, it sends reverberations that impact all other things. God is that luminous web. If we try to say much more, other than God being the source of connection and love between us all, we are missing the point. That's what I mean when I say "God".' To be clear, neither of them are pantheists, but their words are no incompatible with pantheism and still resonate. We also don't celebrate or encourage everything someone else might do. For instance, if someone's beliefs or actions are causing harm to themselves or others, I will try to dissuade them from continuing. You and I are likely to disagree on whether certain things are harmful or not, but that's different than saying that we Progressives support harmful behavior or thoughts.
I came across a Facebook post titled THE OTHER SERENITY PRAYER. They used only the first paragraph. It read "God grant me the serenity to stop beating myself for not doing things perfectly, the courage to forgive myself because I'm working on doing better, and the wisdom to know that you already love just the way I am." ---------- The first paragraph of the actual Serenity Prayer goes "God grant the me serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. The first one should be titled "The Egotistic Serenity Prayer."
Also, we Progressive Christians don’t all have to believe the same thing. And God is not usually called “He.” Good job! You make it sound awesome!!! I mean, some of it was a bit off, but all-in-all, you did a great job explaining my beliefs. Although I would say they came from the same Bible that you study and not from culture. Go with God!!! 😘
But why use the name of Jesus Christ for your new religion? Is it out of nostalgia for a Christian childhood or something like that? Or do you have some obsession with Christian culture?
This all kind of reminds me of Elijah and prophets of Baal. Can you imagine a bunch of Progressive Christians and Biblical Christians coming together with the Progressives laying down the gauntlet to prove who is right? No doubt I can see fire coming down from heaven, consuming their altar.
This is all very familiar to anyone who has been following Marxist thought. I started reading a book that I picked up some years ago. Christianity and Liberalism, by J. Gresham Machen. One passage: "The truth is, the God of modern preaching, though He may perhaps be very good, is rather uninteresting. Nothing is so insipid as indiscriminate good humor. Is that really love that costs so little? If God necessarily forgive, no matter what we do, why trouble ourselves about Him at all? Such a God may deliver us from the fear of hell. But his heaven, if He has any, is full of sin." This was written 100 years ago. Which also reminds me, I don't remember the word "sin" or the cross mentioned in that progressive list at all.
I mean, in all those points there is something which _Apostolic_ Christians can agree with at some level (e.g. one cornerstone of the relationship with God is admitting the fact that God is mystery, He is not a concept but a person, and therefore we cannot reach the absolute understanding of the Truth - which does not mean absolutes doesn't exist or that we have not received the correct faith that was once delivered to the saints)… but that's exactly the problem. Those points are so vague that they can mean practically anything people want them to mean, and that's kinda dangerous, and this video shows one aspect of these dangers.
The redefining of Biblical terms is very key here as it is how Progressive Christianity creeps into Seeker-Friendly churches. I hear many messages that talk about loving people without love being defined. I hear church community outreaches that focus on what they are for not what they are against. This ultimately ends with compromise to the truth of God.
For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, and they will turn their ears away from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 2 Timothy 4:3-4
If they don't think Jesus Christ is the only way to be right with God the Father and to Heaven, I would argue that progressive Christians are not Christians at all.
Progressive Christians can call themselves Christians, but it's really a different religion all together the Gospels make it clear Jesus, is the only way to salvation if and scripture is divinely inspired, if you don't believe so there's no reason to call yourself Christian.
There are many in churches today that are into progressive Christianity unknowingly also. I have come across many that are into practicing yoga and mindfulness meditations in churches. New Agers and progressive Christians are like cousins, they are big into yogas and meditations, do a lot of teachings on self love and mantras and they are influencing a lot of people around the world not only here in America. We believers need to be in vigilant. Thank You Alisa for spreading this kind of awareness and teachings. I am from India, and it breaks my heart to see how Hinduism and other Eastern religion has impacted and misled many Christians here. I am still learning about this new age religion and i see they are just a modernized Hinduism that is being formed to fit the western culture and thus lured many into this religion. I try my best to speak up against these kinds of practices/religion and make awareness of it whenever I get opportunities. God bless your ministry!
I have heard of some of those 8 concepts before but hearing them all together makes sense of so much of what these folks believe and do. The problem is that on the surface so much of this sounds warm and loving to the world and makes it difficult to stand against.
Progressive Christianity is a syncretism between the old religion, Christianity, and the new religion, atheism. Often when a society moves from one religion to another there is an intermediary period where the two religions are combined, for example there were Scandinavians a thousand years ago who worshipped Jesus and Thor before moving entirely to the new religion, Christianity.

@@davidlafleche1142 I think Progressives believe that the only rule of Christian faith is Jesus's example and teachings of God's way. That's different.
Thank you for this! I used to be a progressive Christian but I continued to seek the Lord and he showed me it was false gospel that I was believing. I thank him everyday because I was living in sin and wasn’t truly saved and didn’t even realize it. “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.” Proverbs 8:17 NIV
Yes of course. We know that these are the last days and the devil's on overdrive to destroy biblical Christianity and the authority of God's holy scriptures. Even here I don't hear the Bible even being quoted, though I do appreciate somebody trying to get people back to what is right and good in the eyes of the Lord. The authority is God's word The Saviour of the world is Jesus Christ. That's it. We conform to the Lord, He does not conform to our ways or are thinking or our reasoning. 1. John 4:14
Thank you for your faithfulness and courage to stand firm on things many called and ordained Pastors are not addressing. Beliefs matter, core values matter, both in life and in the church!
Matt. 7 : 21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ So many are just making stuff up and sticking on the vocabulary and names of scripture, even the Lord's name. Lord, have mercy on us all not to be deceived and come to Your truth.
After watching my old church of 12 years start down this path, I’ve really been on a deep dive to learn more about progressive Christianity and this new age thinking. Not for my own benefit, but to be able to speak against it. This is a great breakdown but it also breaks my heart to hear.

@@robertdouglas8895 when it comes to progressive “Christians”. I have had ONLY bad experiences, so I will speak on that. @@tiredoftheworld4834 If you are tired of the world, you haven't seen what is real. With different eyes, you see the light in everyone, not as separate bodies, some, always self included, better than others. But we are one Spirit. John 17:20-21 New King James Version Jesus Prays for All Believers 20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who [a]will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. You'll see the note here, ,"Jesus prays for all believers." Many Christians see themselves as the special ones here, all others excluded except the ones that convert in one lifetime. If they would, as Jesus says, leave the 99 behind and go after the one, that would make them better than the god they think sends people to hell if they don't make the grade before their bodies die. We are not bodies. John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. When you accept all of the Bible as true, you must think God created these bodies that die or that they condemned us to death since we are guilty. That comes from peoples' own guilt.Jesus said what the world looks like as Spirit when you forgive: we are all still as God created us and don't have the power to change that. Matthew 12:7, NIV: If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent. Sacrifice confirms we are evil.
@@robertdouglas8895 sacrifice doesn’t confirm we are evil. Look at the condition of the world and it’s obvious. Even secular people say they like animals more than humans.
I thought growing up that Progressive Christianity meant Salvation by Faith Alone while the Traditionalists believed in Salvation by Works so I was often times confused why Progressive Christians often times demonized Evangelical Protestants because Evangelicals were the ones who believed that Amazing Grace Salvation is given as a gift to anyone who believes and accept that Christ completed the work on the Cross. Boy I was wrong.
Amen! I had a “Christian” tell me that God’s commandments are actually just “suggestions.” These are the false prophets and teachers we are warned about in the Bible who will tell you what you want to hear rather than the truth of God’s Word. Just another way our enemy is using his deceptive lies to lead people astray from God’s truth.
So what commands do you pick and choose? Do you eat pig? Where wool and cotton? Worship on Sunday? Those are all sins. Not to mention that fact that there is a graven image in every church here. Don't act like your better because you only belive in the blood parts. Ya gotta do all or none of it.
@@frankstanley8499 Actually, the commandment says, "Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woolen and linen together" (Deuteronomy 22:11). First of all, it would be nearly impossible to make such a garment: linen is very fine and smooth, while wool is too thick and coarse. It would be like weaving shoelaces with barbed wire. Secondly, even if you could make such a garment, it would be impossible to maintain it. Linen must be washed in water, but wool must be dry-cleaned. Regardless of how you try it, wool would shrink every time it is cleaned, so the garment would be ruined and unusable before long.
This all just sounds like typical modern spirituality where people create God in their own image. They pick and chose what they think helps them not have cognitive dissonance between the world and God. They want the best of both worlds. As I return to reading the Bible I'm often asking what does this really mean verses me warping it to fit into what I want it to mean.
Just as it was in the beginning with Eve .The enemy having mankind questioning the truth of God by enticing her to ask ... “Did God really say ..?” But the Holy Spirit says to those with ears to hear ......”The enemy was a lier from the beginning, he is the father of lies .....but the Lord is the way the TRUTH and the life.”
@@tiredoftheworld4834 It's a big problem, mainly because there is no social gospel, there is only one gospel. We do good works AS believers, not to become believers. Anything attached to "faith alone in Christ" in terms of obtaining salvation needs to be removed.
Doesn't hurt to "qualify the word orthpodox wit the word "historical" as in" historical, orthodox Christian faith. Or the word Biblical works also- just so people do not think you are nodding to easternor Russian orthodox etc.,
@@williamkesler2373 See my comment above with a great link to an article outlining this. Scripture is full of references to our reward/s in heaven. Our salvation is secured through faith alone but there will be degrees of reward in heaven based on what we do here on earth.
This woman is spot on. I went to a progressive church for six years. I could not do it anymore. It is a whole other religion. It is not the Holy Bible either.

When explaining panentheism and God fitting into the things created (like a hand fitting into a glove or seeing the divine in someone,). can you clarify how that is different from the Christian being indwelt by God the Holy Spirit? And God making His home in His people?
I attended a church a few years ago. For the most part, it seemed like a pretty good church. There were some problems, and also, because it was another race, I picked up that they probably didn't really want me there. But a lot seemed really sound and I enjoyed going there while I did. One thing bothered me when the kids led the music. They were highschool and college students, and they gathered on stage, with some musicians, a guitarist or maybe two, a piano player, a drummer, and sometimes a saxophonist. The singers had tambourines if the songs were appropriate for them. For the most part, the songs were okay, although I'd have preferred more older hymns and spirituals. But they had one that worried me: "The Jesus in me greets the Jesus in you". I wasn't sure that they did not mean it as born again Christians, talking about Jesus being in us, through the indwelling Holy Spirit, or whether it was just trying to syncretize the extremely popular "Namaste" of yoga practitioners and popular Buddhism., as if it was the same as the Holy Spirit indwelling us, when it isn't. It was possible to think about it both ways, but I was a visitor there. Had I tried to delve more into what they meant by that, I would have been seen as ungrateful, and perhaps wanting to think the worst. That wasn't true; I was just worried about it. Maybe I should have been more willing to be hated, but I kept my mouth shut, and never even mentioned it to the lady whose guest I was. I haven't talked to her since the pandemic, but to be fair, my phone broke and I got a new one, and her number was in the old phone.

I am not a christian but I am all for progress and science. But I know for a fact that the first step toward gaining in true knowledge especially gaining in scientific knowledge is the acknowledging and the admitting of ones own ignorance which requires the humbling of oneself, and the subsequent step involves trying, working and making an earnest, sincere and dedicated effort toward acquiring true knowledge in that area or subject of study or any other chosen area of endeavour, although the best motivation for that would be purely only as a means and as an end to serve the world and the community at large, and not as a means and as an end to profit from and to make money out of it; I suppose much like a christian would say, the first step toward gaining in virtue would be the confessing and the acknowledging and admitting of ones sin and the subsequent steps would involve repenting from, turning away from and shunning all sin and evil, and doing all one can to be virtuous.
It’s refreshing to hear someone like Alisa be a woman dedicated to THE truth. So many women teachers have fallen into the ditch of feminism, social justice and putting FEELINGS above that truth. Prioritizing peoples’ feelings is why there are so many false teachings nowadays.
This makes so much sense now; what they are doing is all out there for us to see we just have to look for them and then act accordingly. Super cool thank you!
Very interesting. I appreciate the explanation of Progressive Christianity by Alisa. Was never really informed & sure what this PC agenda was espousing.
Thank you! This video was affirming in a lot of ways and helped to shed light on many of the twisted words/phrases and Biblical terms they are trying to redefine. Praise the Lord for His true Word and for those pursuing and clinging to Scripture!
Thank you Alisa for explaining this! I was shocked when I heard a rabbi say to someone who is not a believer say to him that he sees God in him, ya sounding new age to me & seeing you explain this really helps. It’s sad that I know some people that went to Christian University with me in this route. Lord help those that are in progressive, open their eyes to the truth
When I was in grad school (many moons ago), I had to solidify a biblical worldview which meant studying the difference in these philosophical views. They can sound very Christian on the surface, but we have to read the Bible and understand how vastly different these views are. These views are seeping into churches and well meaning people.
Thank you for all that you do! I’ve learned so much of what to look for. Just the other day I watched a Holy Post podcast video with Jen Hatmaker, just to see what would be said. One thing that struck me was this sense of striving and “look at me, I have it all figured out now”-but it just made me feel kinda empty and anxious. But what really stood out to me was that one of the hosts asked her what she missed most from traditional/historic Christianity and she said “the certainty”, which you have clued me in on-that progressives almost worship uncertainty-but it made me sad bc it was like almost in that moment she thought “maybe I’m wrong, maybe I should turn back from this” but then she dismissed it and embraced the uncertainty again. It just really struck me, and then I find this video about the uncertainty thing. It’s all very interesting.
We are not made with the capacity to understand the infinite. How can we be certain of our understanding of God? The words in the bible? No. they are guides but do not offer certainty. Life is a mystery. Our relationship with God is a mystery. Jesus tells us how to live. If you need certainty you are missing the point and only seeking ... comfort.
I wandered around lost and on my own for a long time. I finally found my way home and even though my journey led me back to a different faith than Alisa I have a great deal of respect for her and admire what she is doing to call out false teachings. Thank you for this one, great message.
Instead of looking for differences, when we find shared ideas we can communicate instead of exclude. Jesus tells us about oneness @ John 7.20-21John 17:20-21 20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who [a]will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. We will see Christ in everyone. 1 John 3 King James Version 3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
But when people do not believe in Jesus, they may have been created in his creation of mankind, but they are not in Him as believers in Him are in him, and He in us. That is what He took as important, that we be saved by faith in him, which eventually was faith in his death and His resurrection. We can look at everybody in the world and see someone God would have saved, and whom He does not want to perish. But by the testimony of the Bible, many of the worlds people have not chosen to be saved, and sadly, many will not ever be saved. And if Jesus was the One who gave himself on the cross, the One who doesn't want people to not be saved, yet He is the One who says that many people will not be saved, He is right. He is not in them through the indwelling Holy Spirit, although they have an opportunity, probably many opportunities, to be saved while they are in this life, and God wants them to. You can look at each person and know that Jesus bore their sin on the cross, and that he loves them in that self-sacrificing way. But it is a lie to believe that no matter, He indwells people who reject him too. Jesus said that there would be people who would not come to Him, and He mourned that. Look at when he said I Jerusalem, Jerusalem, how often would I have gathered your children as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings and you would not. Jesus mourned all those people who had every.opportunity to recognize their visitation but hadn't. Another 3,000+ would be saved after the cross, including Paul the apostle. But no, not a universal salvation. God wishes that it was, but He has given people the choice. Universalism is just indifference disguised in "feel good'. It isn't real love..
@@lindajohnson4204 It depends on which god you believe to be the true God. Jesus told us to leave behind the 99 and to go after the one lost son. Would God be less than that and give up on HIs son, regardless where he is in the universe? Would you?

@@lindajohnson4204 I don't give up on anyone so I must be better than your god in Jesus' terms. My God is better than your god. But then, I've been a school teacher and parent I know the difference between a good teacher and bad one: it's forgiveness.
@@robertdouglas8895 Forgiveness is why Jesus bore our sins. We have forgiveness available. God wants to forgive every person. Even those who haven't heard can respond to the drawing of the Holy Spirit, and God will get them the truth they need. But if people treat that forgiveness with contempt all their days, while throwing themselves at every evil thing that Satan can muster, they don't want forgiveness. Jesus has already borne their sins, but if they consistently reject it, He has the right to not include them in the future he has in mind, one with only repentant, forgiven sinners. I'm reading and responding to this, alternately, with a video on AI. The unbelievable foolishness of throwing your life after something like that! People are so horribly deceived! But if they won't let God wake them up from these delusions, they must want to lose themselves in strong delusion. 1:08 "There's an assumption about reality that's being made, that's not being proven, it's just being assumed, and then we want to have an experience of it." It's very funny to hear a Christian unironically say this about another person's beliefs.
No. Liberal Christians are just Christians that are open to more liberal theologies, they generally are open to more allegorical readings of certain parts of the Bible, and generally are Old Earth Creation but they still believe the scriptures are the word of God and accept Jesus is the only way to salvation. Progressive Christianity calls itself Christianity but it's really just a different religion, most of the people who call themselves progressive Christians are just closeted atheists they don't believe the Bible is divinely inspired, they don't believe Jesus is God the son they think he's just a human, and that all religions are equally as valid, so as you can see progressive Christianity clearly rejects the Christian faith.
I think its only Evangelicals that believe her. They seem to need this kind of literalist perspective. I think it makes them feel like they have a leg up on everyone else. Plus she has a bad habit of misrepresenting them.
You "think"? Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. progressive Christians don't believe that.
Thanks! For #5, there is definitely more value in accepting the absolute truth of the Word of God and especially of accepting Jesus, who is Truth, than in questioning. But there is also value in questioning any doctrine to ensure that this doctrine is sound and consistent with the Word of God. Conservative Christians could use a great deal more questioning and seeking and searching to be certain that every belief is firmly rooted and not contradicted in the Word of God and freely admit when we are unsure exactly what is true on certain difficult to understand doctrines. Paul lauded the Bereans, whom he called more noble-minded because they accepted teachings with an open mind but checked the scriptures daily to see if the things he said were true. Jesus and His disciples quoted the Old Testament 100 times or even 1000 times more often than preachers do today. Backup every word with the Word.
Excellent presentation :) I might add that progressive Christians view the Bible as allegorical rather than factual; some say one can interpret it to suite one's own fancy.
There are allegories in the Bible, but not everything is allegorical, and much is literal. The context reveals which is allegorical or not. The further away from the apostles, the more philosophical, and the more likely the so-called ECFs were to allegorize everything away that they didn't want to deal with as literal. But not all early church teachers, after the apostles allegorized everything.. There were some faithful to the truth.
@@loveandmercy9664 This is about the third time in as many weeks that someone has tried to draw me into a showdown about the ECFs. Frankly, I do not remember who, and I'm working from a phone, and one that's sticking and malfunctioning, but if I speak a name I believe was faithful, I just bet you're going to seize on it to try for force the ECFs down my throat, to prove your point., which someone has been trying to do over and over just recently. Lately, it has been to force baptismal regeneration, or infant baptism, on me, by brute force, so I guess that would either be Roman Catholic or Lutheran. But I keep refusing, partly because I'm relatively ignorant about the ECFs, and would have to get something online to refer to, and because I don't trust the motives of the bullies who try to force their opinions down my throat so forcefully,. If you were able to force me to see that every single ECF was in agreement with you, including Barnabas, it would still not mean that the Bible teaches what you're going to try to force on me. If they disagreed with the Bible, it would mean nothing. So I am not interested in engaging with someone about the ECFs who is so gung ho about using them to prove his point, especially since it has been the same attack, over and over. I am not interested in talking with anyone who is ruthless in forcing something down my throat, whether three different people in the last three weeks, or probably closer to two weeks, and that's whether you are the same person, from the same organization, or a bot, or whatever else you could be. This is not an admission of being wrong, but it is of being not especially well, and very tired. I will say that I have less respect for the ruthless religionists who believe that their intended end justifies their evil means, than I ever have in my life. Please leave me alone.
As Christians you should be worried about the transgedering of children and having them put onto puberty blockers. No one can change sex in any meaningful way. The vast majority if the men "changing sex" have a perverted fetish where they are turned on by being seen as a women. These are often dangerous men who should not be in women's sex segregated spaces. Most of the females "changing sex" are traumatized and want to get away from the overtly sexualized society which emulates the pornography industry. Progressive ideology is pushing sex work or prostitution as being empowering to women. It is a dangerous ideology which ignore the terrible things that happen to women

Bonhoeffer once visited Union Theological Seminary and left disgusted by what he saw there. He spoke against "cheap grace". An emphasis on mercy and justice in balance isn't unique to progressive Christianity nor is it at the heart of that. The heart of progressive Christianity is that you are the ultimate authority for yourself. Anyone who says you've crossed a line has no right to say so.
"Western Christianity must be reborn on the Sermon on the Mount and here is the crucial point why I am writing to you. From all I know about you and your work after having studied your books and your movement for a few years, I feel we western Christians should try to learn from you, what realisation of faith means, what a life devoted to political and racial peace can attain. If there is anywhere a visible outline towards such attainments, than I see it in your movement. I know, of course, you are not a baptised Christian, but the people whose faith Jesus praised mostly did not belong to the official Church at that time either" Bonhoefffer's letter to Gandhi
@@loveandmercy9664 This is what Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote about the cheap grace of progressive "Christianity": _"Cheap grace is the deadly enemy of our church. Our fight today is about costly grace._ _Cheap grace means grace sold on the market like cheapjacks' wares. The sacraments, the forgiveness of sin, and the consolations of religion are thrown away at cut prices. Grace is represented as the Church's inexhaustible treasury, from which she showers blessings with generous hands, without asking questions or fixing limits. Grace without price; grace without cost! The essence of grace, we suppose, is that the account has been paid in advance; and, because it has been paid, everything can be had for nothing. Since the cost was infinite, the possibilities of using and spending it are infinite. What would grace be if it were not cheap?... Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate._ _Costly grace is the treasure hidden in the field; for the sake of it a man will go and sell all that he has. It is the pearl of great price to buy which the merchant will sell all his goods. It is the kingly rule of Christ, for whose sake a man will pluck out the eye which causes him to stumble; it is the call of Jesus Christ at which the disciple leaves his nets and follows him. Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock. Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner. Above all, it is costly because it cost God the life of his Son: "ye were bought at a price," and what has cost God much cannot be cheap for us. Above all, it is grace because God did not reckon his Son too dear a price to pay for our life, but delivered him up for us. Costly grace is the Incarnation of God. Grace is costly because it forces man under the yoke of Jesus Christ. It is grace that Jesus says: "For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." [Mt __11:30__]."_ Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

I wish you would remove Christ from this your religion, anything ‘….tianity‘ will do. For “what concord hath Christ with Belial ?”. Take note, if Christ is not the way, you have no way.
I do understand that someone wants to sell books, and get up on a stage an get a small salary - fine, but what I do not understand (while I know it exists) is that when someone calling themselves a Christian, lies and twists data - to sell books. Here are my own experience as a liberal Christian. 1) By following the teachings of Jesus can lead to an experience of the sacred - yeah, it could. Oneness and unity of all life? What... what do you even mean? then Alisa continues it´s borrowed from eastern thoughts and new age... aaahhh, sry I don´t have anything to do with that! Nor ANY of the liberal Christians I personally know. Same with "pantheism", that has nothing to do with liberal Christianity... please stop making up things. 2) Is a bit tricky text... and should be detailed so that one can answer it. Going strictly for what it says, one could claim that if someone would have an experience of sacredness beside Jesus teachings, could also mean one that get it from the songs of David, or from a text of Job or Isaiah. Is that wrong? Or if someone read a spiritual book about their life journey, and one get a sacred feeling out of it... yeah sure that could happen. But are all sacred experiences true? NO! And I do believe that Jesus is the only way to God! 3) Seek community that is all inclusive - an ABSOLUTE YES! Reminds me of the people Jesus had in his community. They were called sinners by the religious elite who didn´t like that Jesus ate and spent time with them. But Jesus said, it is the ill persons who need a doctor! But if I interpret this as she says, it sounds like this is really bad.... just as the elite tried to frame it in Jesus time. 4) What we do... she nearly agrees with us progressives, what we believe is reflected in how we behave towards each other. But then she tries to add that actions are more important than belief. Personally i can say that belief is more important. 5) Is again a tricky written question... (I would not use the term grace - but then again I am not English speaking!)... let me rephrase it - asking questions is important, and especially if one wants to know more about a thing. I even think conservatives believe that! "More value in questioning than absolute" is a truth with a twist. If we can conclude an absolute answer that is much more important than asking questions, but I believe that to be able to find that or come close, one HAS TO ASK QUESTIONS. If the question is - are there other planets in our solar system, the answer YES is 1000 times better than asking again, because we have found an answer. In religion, there are however MANY complicated things, where some people try to project that we have an absolute answer when we do not have it... in those cases it is important to continue questioning. 6) Yes we strive for peace and justice - don´t you? 7) Funny Alisa agrees with most progressive goals at first, but then needs to find some interpretation that differ. then again the "panantheism" no we don´t believe in that... and while we strive for environmental goals, that is NOT A GOSPEL, and has never been. The idea is that God has given us the ea preserve and protect it.rth to care for, both animals and the planet. and we as God´s people need to do our best to preserve it. - I am sorry if this is some evil sin we have. 8) Thx Alisa for also agreeing with nr 8... learning, compassion and selfless love... those are though goals, but we should strive there. And Alisa - I (we) do rejoice IN THE TRUTH! Jesus is God!
all this time i had heard of progressive christianity but had no clue it meant this! i thought they just were politically more liberal or something. this is actually scary and i say this as someone who is just in my 30's . thank you for always making these kinds of videos explaining this stuff
I'm having to pick my jaw up from the floor. I've heard of progressive Christianity, but had no idea this is what they believe. Thank you so much for this video. I really learned a lot!
This is NOT what they believe! This woman creates strawmen to keep you in evangelical churches so that she and her friends can keep making money off of you!
Really good. I'm a missionary in the Philippines and honestly I had no idea that this has become so pervasive in the States. Very grievous indeed. Thank you for making this very clear.
After 8 years abroad, I moved back to the US with my family. It is HARD to find a church that preaches the Bible and not a false gospel these days! So many churches (even in the Bible belt where we live) teach social justice gospel, prosperity gospel, etc. Their church websites speak more about inclusion and affirmation of LGBTQ, CRT, global warming, etc. than Jesus. It grieves me deeply to see the churches turn away! We need to speak out and teach out kids apologetics!
@@SeanWinters I've noticed that too. Small, non-denominational churches seem to have avoided this, though I can't speak for all of them, obviously (and plenty of them have their own issues.) While some of the major protestant denominations have embraced it.

So Progressive Christianity want to remove or change what the Bible says under the guise of good exegeses . From Dublin Ireland
But the founders knew that it was more complicated than that. That’s why we have the judicial branch of government. The legislative creates laws, the executive enforces laws, and the judicial interprets them (including the Constitution, the ultimate law of the land.) So if you want to take the Bible the same way that the US government takes the Constitution then you would be pro questioning and reinterpreting it, because that’s what we do with the Constitution.
@@markhorton3994 But the question always is, what does it say? There are a bunch of different ways to interpret any given thing, and so the question comes down to, what does the Constitution or Bible say, and how does it apply to different situations?

Alisa! Fantastic teaching here…you have revealed what is causing the shady veil to fall over the church.
For point five, you said "you don't ask questions because you want to know answers."
I can tell you, though, that progressive Christians such as myself are interested in knowing answers.
She seems like fun 😅😅

The courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. The first one should be titled "The Egotistic Serenity Prayer."

But why use the name of Jesus Christ for your new religion? Is it out of nostalgia for a Christian childhood or something like that? Or do you have some obsession with Christian culture?
There is no question or doubt about it. My way is always the better way; my truth is always the better truth; and my life is always the better life.

Only one way to God! He is the great “I Am”. Jesus said “No one comes to the father except through me”
If they don't think Jesus Christ is the only way to be right with God the Father and to Heaven, I would argue that progressive Christians are not Christians at all.
Your argument is reasonable, they would just say you are not "enlightened"
Progressive Christians can call themselves Christians, but it's really a different religion all together the Gospels make it clear Jesus, is the only way to salvation if and scripture is divinely inspired, if you don't believe so there's no reason to call yourself Christian.
You either believe or you don't. Change is good, but ruining core values is not.
Only point of progressive Christianity is that, it´s HUGE OXYMORON.

How about you actually talk to a real progressive Christian!
I have heard of some of those 8 concepts before but hearing them all together makes sense of so much of what these folks believe and do. The problem is that on the surface so much of this sounds warm and loving to the world and makes it difficult to stand against.
Satan is very cunning and knows what words to use.

Wow. I believed in panentheism for sooo long! Thank you for calling this out!
Thank you for explaining so clearly what progressive Christians believe. I understand better now. Thank you for your ministry.

After watching my old church of 12 years start down this path, I’ve really been on a deep dive to learn more about progressive Christianity and this new age thinking. Not for my own benefit, but to be able to speak against it. This is a great breakdown but it also breaks my heart to hear.

John 3:6
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
When you accept all of the Bible as true, you must think God created these bodies that die or that they condemned us to death since we are guilty. That comes from peoples' own guilt.Jesus said what the world looks like as Spirit when you forgive: we are all still as God created us and don't have the power to change that.

@@madeinusa5395 there are 613 of them actually.
This was good!!
The one that hits it in a nutshell is they value questioning over absolutes.
Just as it was in the beginning with Eve .The enemy having mankind questioning the truth of God by enticing her to ask ... “Did God really say ..?”
But the Holy Spirit says to those with ears to hear ......”The enemy was a lier from the beginning, he is the father of lies .....but the Lord is the way the TRUTH and the life.”
The Devil uses the same trick over and over because it keeps working.
So many of the women teachers are progressives. It's encouraging to see women like Alisa stand for the orthodox (small "o"!) Christian faith.
Yeah it’s kinda weird. And I feel like many churches are getting into the “social gospel” and leaving out the saving fact.
Well she's a woman and not supposed to be preaching at all so that in itself is progressive.
@@tiredoftheworld4834 It's a big problem, mainly because there is no social gospel, there is only one gospel. We do good works AS believers, not to become believers. Anything attached to "faith alone in Christ" in terms of obtaining salvation needs to be removed.

When explaining panentheism and God fitting into the things created (like a hand fitting into a glove or seeing the divine in someone,). can you clarify how that is different from the Christian being indwelt by God the Holy Spirit? And God making His home in His people?
The difference is that the Holy Spirit doesn’t indwell a person before they are saved… that happens at conversion.

Great website love her teaching

Our hearts can be as " happy warriors."
If you need certainty you are missing the point and only seeking ... comfort.

3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Would you?

Is liberal Christianity the same as progressive Christianity?
Yes.
No
I think its only Evangelicals that believe her. They seem to need this kind of literalist perspective. I think it makes them feel like they have a leg up on everyone else. Plus she has a bad habit of misrepresenting them.

I think this sounds similar to UNITY; another church that believes other ways to salvation are inclusive.
Excellent presentation :) I might add that progressive Christians view the Bible as allegorical rather than factual; some say one can interpret it to suite one's own fancy.
Parables are allegories. Jesus used them often.
Even the church fathers interpreted the Bible through an allegorical lens.
@@lindajohnson4204 which ECFS were faithful to the truth?
I despise ruthlessness in theology. It's all about the force; there is no fear of God there. It is supposed to be about God, as if we believe He is real. So I beg of you to please leave me alone. This is not an admission of being wrong, but it is of being not especially well, and very tired. I will say that I have less respect for the ruthless religionists who believe that their intended end justifies their evil means, than I ever have in my life. Please leave me alone.
Thank you for enlightening us
Excellent presentation and very well explained!
You have clearly never had an actual conversation with a trans person in your life. That is, if you've even met one before.
I can assure you that being trans has nothing to do with being perverted or turned on.
Please don't assume people's intentions or trauma, it's at worst malevolent, and at best logically dishonest.
@@ctrlaltshift yes it does. I have known many trans people who were mostly on the autism spectrum and they are allowed to take cross sex hormones and destroy their bodies and lives

I know, of course, you are not a baptised Christian, but the people whose faith Jesus praised mostly did not belong to the official Church at that time either"
Bonhoefffer's letter to Gandhi
@@loveandmercy9664 This is what Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote about the cheap grace of progressive "Christianity":
_"Cheap grace is the deadly enemy of our church. Our fight today is about costly grace._
_Cheap grace means grace sold on the market like cheapjacks' wares. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate._
_Costly grace is the treasure hidden in the field; for the sake of it a man will go and sell all that he has. It is grace that Jesus says: "For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." [Mt __11:30__]."_

@@friedrichrubinstein I would say since richard rohr is a big endorser of 12 step programs I wouldn't put him as someone who supports cheap grace. He's even friends with some of his family members.

To calm your spirit, remember that only megachurches and wannabe megachurches are like this. Very few small churches are like this.
Progressive Christianity is like changing the rules of football example. PC we don’t like that we can’t handle the football while playing football because it’s not fair on us that like handling the football. So Progressive Christianity want to remove or change what the Bible says under the guise of good exegeses . From Dublin Ireland
The Bible, like our Constitution and Bill of Rights, says what it says. And it doesn’t say what it doesn’t say.
@@geekygecko1849 The constitution means what it says.
