@@stackedactor1 Porgy and Bess is my favorite piece of music (I almost know the 200 minutes of it by heart), so I obviously know about it ! I still prefer Gershwin’s own suite (although it doesn’t come even close to the original opera version) because I find it more coherent while R. Bennett’s arrangement features more songs but they sound less natural all together in only around 23 minutes.
@@stackedactor1 Yes, I also love Blue Monday (it’s extremely underrated) and almost all his songs. Gershwin unfortunately died way too early, I don’t know if I wrote the string quartet but he has it in mind (I learned a lot from J. Gibbons) and planned to compose a violin concerto, a symphony and even an other opera who was to follow Porgy & Bess. His last song (Our Love is Here to Stay) is so proof that he could have still composed outstanding music for years… it tears my heart :(
