Awesome Dakota! I drive a 99 Dakota 4x4 Sport. But it only has the 5.2 liter magnum mated up to a 5 speed manual. Not near as much go fast goodies as yours, but I do have a Hooker Headers exhaust system, K&N cold air intake, a power chip. Probably not near the power as yours, but it will deffinately set you back in the seat and roast the heck out of those rear tires and motivate you down the road in a hurry. Love my Dakota and lots of fun especially when I decide to lite up the tires. Those younger hot rodders a set back when they find out it's a 62 year old man lighting up those tires and having a bit of fun with them. Whats life without a little fun!
john jenkins Right on John! Those 318 motors are classic I'd definitely build one up in a first or second gen Dakota. I've got a 2000 Dakota R/T. They only came in the automatic so I'm working towards swapping the 5 speed into it. 360 is fun in the sun but that 318 is nothing to shake a stick at.
john jenkins Seems I have the exact same setup as you, 1999 ext cab with a 318 and a 5 speed. Did the things you listed really make a major difference? And do you happen to know what chip you have? I'd love to have some more power in the truck but what research I've done it seems the 318 responds poorly to mods.
What you mean I'm 72 and love my 2000 Dakota RT. 2300 CONVERTER from mopar. And their computer. Just enough to make it quick from a stop. Stock I've read where they would do 0-60 in 6.4 stock. I've got to buy a dragy.
I have a free dakota I am building right now, narrowing the rear 7" each side for 15" wide tires. I have a 388 Chevy ready to go in it, around 525 horse without nitrous.
The squat off the launch is just amazing. Needs wheels but other than that I love it. I hope one day my dakota will be running decent times lol. I have an 04 Dakota quad cab (4 door) with the 3.7 v6 (with the 5 speed manual) with a couple mods, I've gotten it to run a 16.01 @ 85mph in the 1/4 mile. Not bad for what it is.
Nice! Have you had it dynoed? Looks like it's time for some suspension upgrades and possibly a transbrake or something to get you out of the hole even quicker

mopar leaf springs, booyah! the dak has great dual rate leafs. the superstock darts & barracuda's of yore run 10's or quicker with leaf spring, so why not?
Meanwhile at a local McDonalds Honda Civic meet, discussions of why American cars are slow ensues... And then a Dakota shows up. lol No but seriously, that generation of Dakota I believe still holds the world record for fastest truck in existence. Running a Cummins turbo diesel engine in it. I don't see anywhere a world record for the fastest Honda Ridgeline on the planet? xD ( Although I'll admit, if I saw that I'd be impressed ) Til then, LONG LIVE THE DAKOTER!
Very sexy truck:)! I wouldn't say sleeper, however. Aftermarket shifter, A-pillar pod, personalized plates, not trying to be stealthy. A sleeper would be more like one of the rusty bumper Dakotas from Craigslist you see for 1000-2000 all the time.
Sooo if you pulled up on it at the stoplight and it proceeded to shred the tires and smoke your arse you would have expected that? An unassuming looking stock vehicle that runs 10's is a Sleeper ya think?
@@victoryredcolorado I agree with hauling the load of wood. Wouldnt be pratical. Towing a trailer with any weight wouldnt be either. The Tesla model S runs 10 second quarter miles from the factory though.
I hate nitrous but unlike boost, it isn't on all the time and the plumbing is simple vs tubing for a hairdryer. I don't like supercharging because of parasite power loss.
Unfortunately my 98 dakota has got the powerful 2.5l the other day my rear bumper passed me 😂
Same
2.5 I4? Tough little shits
It's ok. I got a 5.9 R/T with 28k miles on it. You would pass me easily when I need to stop for gas every 10 mins.
Yep, my 97 has the 2.5 too. Currently looking into a turbo set up. Somewhere between 6-11 lbs boost. That is just to make it streetable!
@@ΒΞΔΝ you gonna sell it anytime soon? Been looking for one forever it seems

this is exactly what I am doing to my dakota nuts need That drive train lol nice vid
Awesome video !
Anymore details you would like to share ? Rear end and transmission?
Thanks!👊 I'm not the owner but its 100% factory suspension other than that maybe he will see this and reply.
What kind of intake is that?
Hell yeah, all american vehicles racing and an all american ass @ 1:20. Love it :D
lol thanks for complimenting my wife. haha my biggest fan
Its been a year now, still your biggest fan? lol
I have a 1999 dodge dakota 5.2 sport and I'm trying to make mine as loud and fast as yours if possible if not a little less.
the 318 is my favorite engine.
what is the setup?
Can you please tell me what size slicks you have on the back.
Thanks Sid
Those are Mickey Thompson ET 10.5 slicks they look to be about 30 inch in diameter
My old 98' 2.5 engine began to knock, hello hemi
Can anyone tell me what kind of transmission setup he has in the floor?
What heads and intake are you running hard to tell intake looks like the 360 3m and are thos aluminum heads?
Can you run it with the tailgate down?
Having the tailgate down adds more drag.
Not much you can do to make a Dakota look any prettier lol but there ain’t no replacement for displacement that’s for true
sweet dakota man! what do you have under the hood, and dumb question but did you swap the rear out?
stock rear end
408ci
nitrous
What gears and what's the stock rearend?
Hi
What size of rubber is being run on this truck?
Mickey Thompson ET 10.5 slicks, looks 30" diameter.
That thing leaves hard, i need to get my turbo dakota to leave like this
how do you run that fast with no roll bar/cage?
johnson2141 I was gonna ask the same and say I'm surprised there is no roll bar or it's not caged.
The track is garbage... that is why.

only idiots race at stoplights, even watch back to the future III?
lol, ok
100% stock suspension has got to be a little hairy!
how much horsepower and where is the 408 from?
You build a 408 stroker motor from a standard 360 Magnum block
Bad Ass... I have 1 doesn't run like that..well done...
is that legal? I feel like they would throw you out of there at 10 seconds.
I have a 2000 Dakota R/T. I thought I was the shit until my gf went and bougth a SS Camaro. My goal is to kick her ass with my truck one day lol.
