Laura, thank you so very much for your candor. I'm sure there are many many stitchers out there who should be spending less, and you have stepped up to the plate as a role model. I know firsthand that show/tell of recent purchases is a huge way of supporting designers, finishers, and makers of all the associated goodies (project bags, fobs, etc.). (When I watch your flosstubes I typically have Etsy on speed dial so I can look for the items I want to buy.) In the interest of thrift, how about you start a pattern "wish list." Instead of showing us the pattern(s) you have recently purchased, you can show us pictures of patterns you have added to your wish list since the last episode, along with a discussion as to whether you plan on using the called-for threads, linen, etc. Prioritize the list over time and update us periodically. Just a thought. Viewers' affection for you both is SO not contingent upon your spending, believe me!

Congratulations on your beautiful finishes and it was so great to see some of your previous finishes too. I could watch and listen to you two all day long, with or without seeing any haul. You’ve shown so many beautiful things you’ve purchased over the last few years that most of us may not have an exact memory to recall everything you’ve shown so going through your older stuff will be fun and new to many of us. We just love watching and hanging out with you and seeing your beautiful stitching.

I know that I'm late watching this video, but I have to say that I love your transparency about spending. I tune in to see your stitching and your camaraderie, in addition to your haul. I retired at the end of 2021 and have been organizing my stash because I didn't remember what I had and where it was. I was amazed at the beautiful charts that I had forgotten about. Some of them are fully kitted and ready to go. It was an eye opener and now I'm looking forward to stitching many of those beautiful things, plus some new acquisitions.

You both have some pretty finishes. I've been using those Crayola pencils for a long time for highlighting. They are great, & I think erasable. Love everything you've shown. Marilyn

Laura, I am doing the same thing...stitching the things that I have purchased over the years that I find in my stash and still love. It is actually fun. I haven't even purchased anything from Market (although there are so many I want). I still buy floss and fabric if I don't have anything in my stash...just not charts. It is okay and when you finish one of those older pieces, it confirms that you are doing the right thing...for now. Keep stitching, ladies. I love to see your finished works! You won't find me NOT watching...I look forward to your videos every other week and Carol's on the week you don't have one. You are one of about 5 that I watch because when I have free time, I am stitching and I can't stitch and watch so stitching wins out.

I have really fallen down the “Rabbit Hole”. I applaud you both for the advice that One doesn’t need to go into debt. I am newer to cross stitch only 7 months and there is sooooo much eye candy out there and there are times when I want it all !!! I have accumulated quite a line up of charts that I have kitted up. I have made a list of them and should be happy for quite some time stitching what I have purchased. Most are in project bags I purchased but then I decided I could just make project bags myself since I am also a quilter. I started with the Lori Holt special panel, with great stitching guidance on her uTube channel. Then I saw the ones Kim from Fat Quarter Shop uTube and bought the additional supplies I needed. (Drawing fabric from my “Resource Center” here at home). Now to make time to stitch one a week or so. I am a monogamous cross stitcher thanks to the influence of a dear friend. I have finished 7 so far. I am presently stitching on Hoity Toity with Jan Hicks thread conversion, this will take me some time to finish. A huge Thank You to you both for all that you do to brighten my day.
Laura, you do know most all of us have "shops" in our homes. Sometimes looking thru our stash we find new stitching. And as Brenda would say, do what makes you happy!
Another great video and love seeing your finishes, Laura and Brenda! I began using WIPGO in January with my cross stitch and quilting and it's actually fun to see what comes up and especially quilts I haven't worked on in a while. I have several finishes with cross stitch because I enjoy the project once I pull it out - also no fabric buying has been my goal for this year, even piecing backings for smaller quilts. I am 70 and have more charts and quilt patterns than I can ever get completed so, Laura, enjoy pulling from your WIPS. Haul is certainly not all we watch your videos for so it'll be fun to see whatever you share!♥

I was at Stitch North in Toronto with Caroline. It was wonderful to have a stitching event to attend and we had such a good time. I have registered (and paid) for next year.! Laura I’m reigning it in too as our energy prices have just gone up ridiculously over here ( government raised the cap that companies can charge by 54% ) so I’ll only be buying if I need fabric or threads. I think it’ll be a good thing though as just think of all the wonderful charts we’ll discover that we might have forgotten about! You know, sometimes I say to myself as both a crosstitcher and a quilter……do I want to be a crosstitcher or a chart buyer? Do I want to be a quilter or a fabric buyer? My stitch dreams wont come true if I just keep buying and never work on it…so! I’m always working on being a stitcher and a quilter! This is hard for all of us I think. Glad you talked about it. Oh, ladies, I love the way Brenda happily and freely gave the details of how to send off stitching for framing. This is such a wonderful feature and especially with Laura’s sad news of reining in her spending these sort things that are info driven instead of purchase driven would be interesting. Those of us who watch you and love you are all in different stages of our cross-stitch journey and how do you know that there aren’t a ton of us out here wondering how the sending off to frame works. Lol I waited forever to contact my local framer for fear of doing something “wrong” only to be greeted by simple instructions and a wonderful framer. What else may we be sitting here afraid to do? I’m not sure as I usually rush in head first even if it’s wrong. What about how to prep for finishers of smalls or how that works. How to wrap hoops or attach linen to scroll frames. The how to organize is an amazing thought. You two are wonderful together and you appear comfortable sharing. You could ask for ideas of what people would like to have covered. Designer highlights are an old feature that could be resurrected. Congratulations on the finish Laura. Just think you all will be have a ton of framing finishes too share too! I look forward to your Sunday Flosstubes. Maybe there will even be a tour of Laura’s girl wall in the future! Oh and her organized stitchy place! I’ll still be here no matter what you all do. Laura you can do anything ! You own your own special stuff and it does take time to stitch. Please keep your wish list just like You are buying . When you can buy again That list will be a wonderful way to zero in on the things that mean the most to you. We all have things we have to take care of. What always gets to me is the idea that I can't do that I want to do and do it right away.

I’m an OLD stitcher (hahah) and none of my friends stitch even tho they are lovely and try hard to look excited when I talk about a chart or linen etc… so this flosstube Chanel fills my friends who stitch void!

I love watching the two of you, you make me smile and chuckle too. Two friends supporting one another. We all have to have times where we save a bit so we can spend at a later date. Here in the Uk we have fewer shops to choose from. But they are all excellent stores with fabulous selections I haven’t got a huge stash but I’ve have enough to keep me busy for at least the next year or so. Thank you ladies keep on enabling x

As per usual loving your video….I have to say that I learned a great deal about linens,threads and charts from you ladies….however, I don’t buy all at once,I have my note book where I take note of charts, linens and threads. And Brenda,regarding nit having room on your walls…I tell you what a friend told me years back….rotate your samplers…. Loser….wall, closet, alternating them….and Laura, the top is true canadien eh? Very pretty. BTW…..love the sound of the clock….
I found your video about lack of wall space and money spending interesting. I’ve had to look at myself as well, even though I try to buy what I can stitch I looked at my stack of patterns and realized I had overboard. Your idea of listing charts is great, when you look back at them you might even find you don’t love them as much. I think you’ll be able to talk about things in more depth and maybe not feel as overwhelmed at times. We’re going to be moving in the next while(when we find a home with enough wall space for framed pieces) and the more I “collect” the more I’ll have to pack. You two are so great for the community and it won’t matter if you show “all” the things that come out. On a lighter note, I too have a friend who was at the Evertote retreat and had a great time. It great to think you’ll be going there next year Laura., hopefully you’ll go as well Brenda. I’m hoping someone in Western Canada will have a retreat so that I might go.😊
Laura, I love all the small finishes you showed. Can’t wait to see them framed. Are you going to share your girl wall someday when it’s taking shape? I have to budget all my expenses from now on, not just stitching. I live in the Netherlands and because of the war gas prices for me just got 8 times more expensive, which is a lot of money each month. I’m very glad I listened to you in the past though, so when I could afford it I managed to build op some stash, which I now can enjoy. Happy stitching!

Brenda- can you put an extension on your home? That’d give you more wall space 😂 I’m a member of The National Trust in the UK and I visit stately homes where they’ve built whole extra wings to just use as a gallery to show off all their fancy finds from their grand tours. You could start charging the public and employ Laura to be a guide- that’d give her an extra bit of pin money! 😂 In all seriousness though, I don’t watch you ladies for the haul- I watch because I enjoy your friendship and passion for cross stitch. You could talk about the same pattern for 3 weeks running and I’d still watch because you’d still be entertaining and good company xx
Just got home yesterday from Stitch North and it was amazing. Loved it so much and would hope you make it next year. I got to meet Caroline, Shiloh, Jody, and many others and it was fantastic. My first retreat and I plan on going back.

As you both said, everyone is in a different situation and there’s no need for guilt but we don’t need our happy hobby to *cause* us any stress either... and as for video content, anything you share would be great - could be wips, your immediate radar list, kitted projects, or cycle through designer tours again. I’m also really interested to see people’s sewing set up - where they sit, what their essential tools are, how you decide what to work on, etc. It’s all good. 💕💕

Brenda, coffee dye the dmc and bake for just a couple minutes it’s worth it! I sometimes do that with either white or ecru and coffee dye/bake to antique it. 👍💪 you’ve got this

Another great video. Laura, I appreciate you keeping it real. One thing that has concerned me about flosstube is the proliferation of the consumer culture. The prospect of people going into debt because they are trying to buy all the things is very dangerous. Also, we have to think about what all of this is doing to the environment: plastic bags, shipping, mass production. Sometimes it's just all too much. ... Enough of that. I loved your early designer parades, and you could start those again with your current stash. Also, you could take suggestions for what viewers think you should stitch out of your stash. My votes would be a whale chart you showed early on. (I think it was Notforgotten Farm.) You also showed an elephant chart on one of your early videos that Brenda clearly did not appreciate as much as you did. We could start a #Brendaisrollinghereyessal. And, we definitely need a #putMikeDuetonJeopardy campaign!

If you find yourselves in need of a topic it would be helpful to get a lesson in converting stitch count to sizes of linen. How large would a piece be in 28, 30, 32, 36, 40, etc. Maybe a stitch conversion chart. Laura, I think so many of us need to be more frugal with our spending. Not so much fun, but helpful! Wonderful video! I am also stitching all the pinkeeps in "Keeper Of The Pins" from Brenda Gervais. I'm on my fourth one and will have only two more to go & I started them a few days ago. Laura, thank you so very much for your candor. I'm sure there are many many stitchers out there who should be spending less, and you have stepped up to the plate as a role model. I know firsthand that show/tell of recent purchases is a huge way of supporting designers, finishers, and makers of all the associated goodies (project bags, fobs, etc.). (When I watch your flosstubes I typically have Etsy on speed dial so I can look for the items I want to buy.) In the interest of thrift, how about you start a pattern "wish list." Instead of showing us the pattern(s) you have recently purchased, you can show us pictures of patterns you have added to your wish list since the last episode, along with a discussion as to whether you plan on using the called-for threads, linen, etc. Prioritize the list over time and update us periodically. Just a thought. Viewers' affection for you both is SO not contingent upon your spending, believe me!

I know that I'm late watching this video, but I have to say that I love your transparency about spending. I tune in to see your stitching and your camaraderie, in addition to your haul. I retired at the end of 2021 and have been organizing my stash because I didn't remember what I had and where it was. I was amazed at the beautiful charts that I had forgotten about. Some of them are fully kitted and ready to go. It was an eye opener and now I'm looking forward to stitching many of those beautiful things, plus some new acquisitions.

Laura, I am doing the same thing...stitching the things that I have purchased over the years that I find in my stash and still love. It is actually fun. I haven't even purchased anything from Market (although there are so many I want). I still buy floss and fabric if I don't have anything in my stash...just not charts. It is okay and when you finish one of those older pieces, it confirms that you are doing the right thing...for now. Keep stitching, ladies. I love to see your finished works! You won't find me NOT watching...I look forward to your videos every other week and Carol's on the week you don't have one. You are one of about 5 that I watch because when I have free time, I am stitching and I can't stitch and watch so stitching wins out.

I have really fallen down the “Rabbit Hole”. I applaud you both for the advice that One doesn’t need to go into debt. I am newer to cross stitch only 7 months and there is sooooo much eye candy out there and there are times when I want it all !!! I have accumulated quite a line up of charts that I have kitted up. I have made a list of them and should be happy for quite some time stitching what I have purchased. Most are in project bags I purchased but then I decided I could just make project bags myself since I am also a quilter. I started with the Lori Holt special panel, with great stitching guidance on her uTube channel. Then I saw the ones Kim from Fat Quarter Shop uTube and bought the additional supplies I needed. (Drawing fabric from my “Resource Center” here at home). Now to make time to stitch one a week or so. I am a monogamous cross stitcher thanks to the influence of a dear friend. I have finished 7 so far. I am presently stitching on Hoity Toity with Jan Hicks thread conversion, this will take me some time to finish.
A huge Thank You to you both for all that you do to brighten my day.
Laura, you do know most all of us have "shops" in our homes. Sometimes looking thru our stash we find new stitching. And as Brenda would say, do what makes you happy!

Another great video and love seeing your finishes, Laura and Brenda! I began using WIPGO in January with my cross stitch and quilting and it's actually fun to see what comes up and especially quilts I haven't worked on in a while. I have several finishes with cross stitch because I enjoy the project once I pull it out - also no fabric buying has been my goal for this year, even piecing backings for smaller quilts. I am 70 and have more charts and quilt patterns than I can ever get completed so, Laura, enjoy pulling from your WIPS. Haul is certainly not all we watch your videos for so it'll be fun to see whatever you share!♥

Oh, ladies, I love the way Brenda happily and freely gave the details of how to send off stitching for framing. This is such a wonderful feature and especially with Laura’s sad news of reining in her spending these sort things that are info driven instead of purchase driven would be interesting. Those of us who watch you and love you are all in different stages of our cross-stitch journey and how do you know that there aren’t a ton of us out here wondering how the sending off to frame works. Lol I waited forever to contact my local framer for fear of doing something “wrong” only to be greeted by simple instructions and a wonderful framer. What else may we be sitting here afraid to do? I’m not sure as I usually rush in head first even if it’s wrong. What about how to prep for finishers of smalls or how that works. How to wrap hoops or attach linen to scroll frames. The how to organize is an amazing thought. You two are wonderful together and you appear comfortable sharing. You could ask for ideas of what people would like to have covered. Designer highlights are an old feature that could be resurrected. Congratulations on the finish Laura. Just think you all will be have a ton of framing finishes too share too! I look forward to your Sunday Flosstubes. Maybe there will even be a tour of Laura’s girl wall in the future! Oh and her organized stitchy place! I’ll still be here no matter what you all do. I’m sure there will still be purchases!

As per usual loving your video….I have to say that I learned a great deal about linens,threads and charts from you ladies….however, I don’t buy all at once,I have my note book where I take note of charts, linens and threads. And Brenda,regarding nit having room on your walls…I tell you what a friend told me years back….rotate your samplers…. Loser….wall, closet, alternating them….and Laura, the top is true canadien eh? Very pretty. BTW…..love the sound of the clock….

I found your video about lack of wall space and money spending interesting. I’ve had to look at myself as well, even though I try to buy what I can stitch I looked at my stack of patterns and realized I had overboard. Your idea of listing charts is great, when you look back at them you might even find you don’t love them as much.
I think you’ll be able to talk about things in more depth and maybe not feel as overwhelmed at times. We’re going to be moving in the next while(when we find a home with enough wall space for framed pieces) and the more I “collect” the more I’ll have to pack.
You two are so great for the community and it won’t matter if you show “all” the things that come out.
On a lighter note, I too have a friend who was at the Evertote retreat and had a great time. It great to think you’ll be going there next year Laura., hopefully you’ll go as well Brenda. I’m hoping someone in Western Canada will have a retreat so that I might go.😊

I have to budget all my expenses from now on, not just stitching. I live in the Netherlands and because of the war gas prices for me just got 8 times more expensive, which is a lot of money each month. I’m very glad I listened to you in the past though, so when I could afford it I managed to build op some stash, which I now can enjoy. Happy stitching!

Brenda- can you put an extension on your home? That’d give you more wall space 😂 I’m a member of The National Trust in the UK and I visit stately homes where they’ve built whole extra wings to just use as a gallery to show off all their fancy finds from their grand tours. You could start charging the public and employ Laura to be a guide- that’d give her an extra bit of pin money! 😂 In all seriousness though, I don’t watch you ladies for the haul- I watch because I enjoy your friendship and passion for cross stitch. You could talk about the same pattern for 3 weeks running and I’d still watch because you’d still be entertaining and good company xx

Just got home yesterday from Stitch North and it was amazing. Loved it so much and would hope you make it next year. I got to meet Caroline, Shiloh, Jody, and many others and it was fantastic. My first retreat and I plan on going back.

Thanks again for a fun video. As a recovering fabric hoarder, I applaud your efforts to rein it in (reign it in?) As you both said, everyone is in a different situation and there’s no need for guilt but we don’t need our happy hobby to *cause* us any stress either... and as for video content, anything you share would be great - could be wips, your immediate radar list, kitted projects, or cycle through designer tours again. I’m also really interested to see people’s sewing set up - where they sit, what their essential tools are, how you decide what to work on, etc. It’s all good. 💕💕

Brenda, coffee dye the dmc and bake for just a couple minutes it’s worth it! I sometimes do that with either white or ecru and coffee dye/bake to antique it. 👍💪 you’ve got this

Another great video. Laura, I appreciate you keeping it real. One thing that has concerned me about flosstube is the proliferation of the consumer culture. The prospect of people going into debt because they are trying to buy all the things is very dangerous. Also, we have to think about what all of this is doing to the environment: plastic bags, shipping, mass production. Sometimes it's just all too much. ... Enough of that. I loved your early designer parades, and you could start those again with your current stash. Also, you could take suggestions for what viewers think you should stitch out of your stash. My votes would be a whale chart you showed early on. (I think it was Notforgotten Farm.) You also showed an elephant chart on one of your early videos that Brenda clearly did not appreciate as much as you did. We could start a #Brendaisrollinghereyessal. And, we definitely need a #putMikeDuetonJeopardy campaign!

I need to "cool my jets" on my stitching collection too & was feeling a little bummed because I am now really retired & money is shorter. If you find yourselves in need of a topic it would be helpful to get a lesson in converting stitch count to sizes of linen. How large would a piece be in 28, 30, 32, 36, 40, etc. Maybe a stitch conversion chart.
