When I was a little girl, my mother would assemble a travel bag for me for long, cross-country car trips. I wasn’t able to dig into the bag until we pulled out of the driveway. By the time the back two tires touched the street, I had opened the bag and thrown everything all over the backseat. New crayons, coloring books, math workbooks (young nerd), car games, stickers, colorforms (remember those?), and snacks. I was so excited! I think I might do the same for my special starts - wrap up a gift box with my pattern, fabric, threads, a new needleminder, project bag, and a special snack. Then I won’t allow myself to open it until that day. What a fun way to make it even more special!
Oh my goodness! I love that story so much!!!!! And yes to Colorforms!!!!!!!!!!!! Loved those. Also loved coloring books and crayons and workbooks (not Math though!). And great idea about the gift box for special starts!!!!!!! I need to give that some thought!! Thank you!
Colorforms were a wonderful treat! When I was between 2nd and 3rd grade, my family took a driving vacation to Florida (from upstate NY). We took my grandparents' station wagon, and my mom set the back up for my sister and I with sleeping bags and treats - snacks and new puzzle books, coloring books, etc. She had made small packages and designated them for specific days of the trip. We had so much fun that we didn't realize how long we were in the car! I love the idea of doing this with a special start...

You ladies bring me such happiness, as I am a widow but do keep busy with stitching, watching flosstube, taking organ lessons for almost 5 yrs. Use to drive truck with my late husband and made 2 runs a week to Chicago or the town if Shamburgh to load motorcycles.
My watching you guys was a little bit yesterday & in bits & chunks today but it was still SO GREAT! Hope you each have fun on your trips but I may be in Brenda & Laura withdrawal by Halloween! I just want to thank you Brenda for your comments about using Soie 100. on 32 count. When I purchased the pattern Jane Hopkins I knew I wanted to try that thread but unbeknownst to me, that thread was normally used on 36 ct and higher linen. I purchased the kit of threads from the Attic and then found out that I may have made a mistake. Your emphatic thoughts on the subject made me feel better about my choice. Thank you and I really enjoy watching you and Laura. I am inspired by your stitching and your courage.

Oh the joy you have and share with everyone is absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing all your Stitchy goodies, projects and kindness. So happy for you Brenda on your blood counts and you mentioned cycles, my husband is hopefully begin his second cycle this week, not the terms you want to become familiar with but the beginning of our journey. He had his first one on September 2nd and then had emergency surgery which led to 3 infections and in the hospital many times since then but cat scan and blood count looks good to go. It’s a very aggressive treatment so we are just taking it one day at a time. I wish I could find my stitching mojo but found my knitting mojo for now. Those buttons are tempting though, lol. Continued prayers for you and have fun on your trips, enjoy!

Great video! Brenda so happy to know your treatments are coming to an end soon. It's a great feeling I know, been there with radiation and it was such a relief to have that behind me. I'm 8 years cancer free! Happy that you will be able to go to retreats and get out there and have fun! You two made me laugh a lot today, always fun! Lots of wonderful gifts in the mail from your fans. It's fun to see all the goodies and be enabled a bit. Laura, you have tons of fun traveling with your mom and try to stay out of trouble! lol
Thanks for bringing such joy with every flosstube. I hope you both have such fun trips. It will be so exciting to see what you bring home from the retreats. I will have to figure out how to work on multiple page projects, like the hands across the sea samplers. They look beautiful and the spiral binding looks like a good idea. But I’ve just taped the pieces of the charts together in the past and that doesn’t seem to be the best way to use the charts. I’ll have to do some research on that.

I just want to thank you Brenda for your comments about using Soie 100. on 32 count. When I purchased the pattern Jane Hopkins I knew I wanted to try that thread but unbeknownst to me, that thread was normally used on 36 ct and higher linen. I purchased the kit of threads from the Attic and then found out that I may have made a mistake. Your emphatic thoughts on the subject made me feel better about my choice. Thank you and I really enjoy watching you and Laura. I am inspired by your stitching and your courage.

Oh the joy you have and share with everyone is absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing all your Stitchy goodies, projects and kindness. So happy for you Brenda on your blood counts and you mentioned cycles, my husband is hopefully begin his second cycle this week, not the terms you want to become familiar with but the beginning of our journey. He had his first one on September 2nd and then had emergency surgery which led to 3 infections and in the hospital many times since then but cat scan and blood count looks good to go. It’s a very aggressive treatment so we are just taking it one day at a time. I wish I could find my stitching mojo but found my knitting mojo for now. Those buttons are tempting though, lol. Continued prayers for you and have fun on your trips, enjoy!

Great video! Brenda so happy to know your treatments are coming to an end soon. It's a great feeling I know, been there with radiation and it was such a relief to have that behind me. I'm 8 years cancer free! Happy that you will be able to go to retreats and get out there and have fun! You two made me laugh a lot today, always fun! Lots of wonderful gifts in the mail from your fans. It's fun to see all the goodies and be enabled a bit. Laura, you have tons of fun traveling with your mom and try to stay out of trouble! lol

Thanks for bringing such joy with every flosstube. I hope you both have such fun trips. It will be so exciting to see what you bring home from the retreats. I will have to figure out how to work on multiple page projects, like the hands across the sea samplers. They look beautiful and the spiral binding looks like a good idea. But I’ve just taped the pieces of the charts together in the past and that doesn’t seem to be the best way to use the charts. I’ll have to do some research on that.
