@@vomErsten I could be wrong but I thought a continuation car is original manufacturer built using chassis numbers not used in period. This to me seems somewhere between a replica and a restomod. I saw a 250 California parked on the street in Knightsbridge a year or two ago. Knowing the rarity and astronomical value, I almost fell over and given the area, I didn't doubt the authenticity at the time. When I got home, I looked it up and realised that it was just a replica - probably a Z3 rebody. This one seems to be as close to the real deal as you can get. Very nice.

I've seen a yellow 250 California where I live in Lancashire, once at a local classic meet near Chorley and at the Ormskirk Motorfest in 2017. Apparently it is (or was) owned by a Ferrari enthusiast named Steve Pilkington and is a rebodied Ferrari using the chassis from a 2+2 coupe and made to look like a real 250. He also owns a 275GTB and a 250SWB. You don't need to live in London to see people with alot of money.

Tiny shoes and no brake servo are still with us ( an Elise thing!); but your description of being being part of it is spot on for me: I've run an MGC Roadster for 35 years - forget the flaws, enjoy the drive. The fact that you'd buy thirty of them for the price of one of these doesn't stop this being v. pretty though...just comes down to pocket, and personal taste. Personally, it would always nark me to have spent a million on a fake: you'd feel forced to explain or to lie - only folks who could get away with this would be those who had a real one... 😅
