My favorite souvenir is food. I feel it’s a win-win because the person who loves getting things gets to get me something and I loveto try new foods from different places.
Corner kitchen cabinets are the clown car of kitchen decluttering! You open that sucker and those rat bastards just come tumbling out! P.S. I think Sam is coming along. A few years ago, his "keeps " were higher than his "let go's ". Kudos to you for sticking it out and kudos to him for dipping his toe in to the minimalism pool! ❤
I’m so grateful I found your channel I’ve NEVER been able to declutter my room because I always get VERY overwhelmed and demotivated but I just feel like you get it your vibe is genuine, I don’t know why but your videos are just so motivating I’ve for the first time been able to completely blitz my room within a few hours filling two big bags of just crap I was emotionally tied to without feeling a thing and I’ve had all your videos playing in the background and every time I started feeling overwhelmed I’d just hear your videos and I’d be like ‘no come on it’s easy don’t over think’. I’ve still got ‘little bits’ to finish tomorrow but the biggest problems in my bedroom are finally gone 😩 I really don’t think I would of been able to do that without your videos pushing me along the way xx
Idk how many is the boundary, but 28 mugs is definitely too many for one person! And I'd definitely say make sure you don't buy him any more mugs. Also worth noting that him HAVING mugs doesn't mean they all have to be easy access in the kitchen cupboard. Could pick out his most used x number of mugs and have them in the cupboard, and the rest in a box of "spare mugs" in a closet or something out of the way.
Yes declutter the spot "that bugs the living snot out of you" is one of my favorite strategies. It always feels so much better after. Not necessarily during..... Because it is usually a rage clean. 😂
I despise kitchen cabinets. I need to declutter when my kids go on spring break. I did organize all my seasonings/herbs last week. I put them in clear bins to separate them according to my cooking use. Mugs i have to get throw out. I bought Halloween kind but the paint fell off and the other i didnt know the handles had holes in it. My fiance said mold can get stuck inside. My fiance has started to declutter to. Even my mom started decluttering. They were remodeling so her closet was filled with tools. Yesterday she said she finally had a closet back lol. I thank you for the improvements made in our homes. 🤍
☕ A great tip I learned from Clean My Space is to rub baking soda with a little bit of water to remove stains like the coffee stains in the Grinch mug.
Great job! We have so many mugs in many different spots in the kitchen. You’re inspiring me to try to declutter some. Thanks for all you do. I appreciate you. ❤😊🐦
Mugs find a way to breed when the door is shut. I have banned my family and friends from giving me any as I have to keep decluttering them. Thank you for the declutter checklist as well, it will help me find the spots I have missed.
We are non coffee drinkers but have many mugs. We could probably yeet one or two but I use mugs for hot chocolate in winter, soup, ice cream because a mug is smaller than a bowl eat less. I have a mug for rinsing when I brush my teeth. Mugs I've been gifted hold pens and pencils and makeup brushes.
Well done 👏 Protein powder off counter, top shelf empty and box of donations. That’s a fantastic days work. For the next cupboard or drawer you do in the kitchen pick an easy win for yourself. Hope you’re feeling better in yourself. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏💪👍🙏💐🐕🦺
Just a thought, perhaps the mugs can go on the second shorter shelf and taller things on the bottom? It crazy how much stuff we accumulate even while striving for simplicity. Good on you both for letting go of so much. 🌻🍄
I’m hoping I might eventually be able to move them to the next cupboard over. Waiting u til that one’s also decluttered before I make any final decisions. But definitely a possibility!
We have seven people at home and 21 mugs, plus I think three that my husband uses in his home office. We have a hanging rack on a wall so we see them every day. I love them, but also don't get sad when one breaks because it means I get to buy a new one, lol.
I have four shelves high in my cupboards as well and the top is too high to reach unless I get a chair or stool. I’ve decluttered enough so far to be able to keep the fourth shelves empty. It’s a small win.☺️
Wow, the contents of that cabinet were massive! I’ll take that self warming coffee cup! Great for classroom teachers! LOL! Just kidding. I’ll get my own. Hugs!
My mom's mug collection always came in handy at Easter time for egg decorating. ☺️ She has lots of mugs and that is usually something that comes in for gifts or vacations.
Mugs seem to be one of the biggest concerns when decluttering a kitchen.😂 My adult son collects mugs and they are starting to take over. As he will be out on his own in the next year or two I’ve been boxing up some things for him to take with him. Included will be the mugs I don’t see him using often. He also has the biggest tea collection I think I’ve ever seen.😩
Do you have any advice for decluttering and organization while living through and with ongoing renovation? I feel so defeated and almost why bother cause I'm going to have to redo it again once the spaces are finished but I also don't want to live out of boxes as much as possible 🙃
Let it go as much as you can. Renovations are enough to be worrying about. And keeping the stuff in boxes means it’s less likely to get destroyed in dust, etc.
My mom once gifted an electronic notepad that my dad had not used ever and he had it for more than a year. It triggered his hoarding, he felt betrayed and he remided it to her for years because he didn't trust her anymore. He stills remembers it but only a couple times a year. If your partner is a hoarder, the worst thing you can do is decluter without them.
@@HowToGYST okay good. 😂 Because the hubby never used the gift. 😜 Didn't want your heart hurt. But you were a thoughtful gift giver and in was curious. I am a quality time/ acts of service person. My lowest category is gifts.

I bought really nice canisters for my protein powders. I put a nice scoop in them. They make my countertops look so much nicer.
I'm normally always on your side, but there is no such thing as too many coffee mugs! ;-)
😂 I only drink water so I guess I’m not the best judge.
Thank you for a very early morning belly laugh. 😂. “… the living snot” comment cracked me up! 😊 great video.

Definitely keep the Apple boxes, they are the best for containing things in drawers.

I use wire risers in many cabinets to utilize the verticle space. Example: for glasses and mugs

They multiply overnight. 😂
"I've not seen you use this in the whole of our five year relationship. Can we donate it?"

Funny how mugs seem to be the one thing that everyone has lots of.
I wonder if that pink unicorn bag was intended to be a gift? 🧐
Even 1 cupboard is progress! (Please don't look behind the door in my spare room.)
Where was your Jovie ?! 😯
Having a little nap while I did all the hard work. As usual. 😂
The ginormous protein powder containers are overwhelming. I think I would put some in a pretty canister and store the rest somewhere else.

My husband and I have stopped buying each other gifts unless they are specifically requested.

I did this recently, but I could probably have been more ruthless. 😂
Go back for Round 2. 😉
Surely a bread maker isn't something that is used daily? The trouble is they are just so big.
