Say Mr. Sam, you have no idea how relieved I was when you showed me I wasn't gonna need an extra $100 for that second key. Got a bad PCM and burnt coils all because we never replaced spark plugs on time. Lesson learned. Many thanks for the info, absolutely invaluable.
Great information as a newer IDS user! In a future video can you touch on programming a Ford module that has failed and can't transfer its program to a new module. Like a PCM failure that you have to use PTS to get the as built data? Or perhaps installing and reprogramming a used PCM? Great Channel!!
Need some help!! Much appreciated so my car was sitting for about a year no battery engine being built fasforward to now I had pats issues finally figured it out and it started running crank no start issue but my key fab with a new battery inside as well as the car. The remote would not control the locking and unlocking of the car and the horn would beep and basically go into panic mode then timing it correctly by pressing the button it would shut off but had no control of locking/unlocking of doors. So today I brought the tpms scanner home I only have one key and stupid me selected reset parameters and then also had selected I believe clear key code thinking it would rectify my issue I was wrong I'm now having a crank no start . How do I go about recoding my only key I have in my possession again? My car is a 2004 mustang mach1 and the pats control is in the instrument cluster. When I saw this video I knew rite away I messed up .. thankyou for your post of this video. And i hope to hear from you thankyou for your time..
My 1999 Ford F-150 theft mode has engaged. Locksmith came out tried to program new keys, said the "immobilizer" (column transceiver I assume) was bad. Replaced it. New locksmith came out, tried to program new keys, stated the immobilizer wouldn't communicate with ECM. I'm at a loss. What is in between the ECM and the transceiver or what could be causing the transceiver not to communicate with the ECM? Is=f it is the cluster, how is communicatioin fixed? Frustrated.
So I replaced my gauge cluster on my 2001 to a very rare used autometer lunar cluster ones I installed it pats kicked in should intake it to Ford or should I swap pmc out of my old cluster to meet cluster
2004 crown Victoria. I need to replace my PCM. Can I program my existing keys to new PCM with forscan or would I need a known key to the pcm to access that function? Debating on where to go from here
Hey what happened when no key is with the truck I have bought a 2001 ford ranger either I was thinking of buy an ignition barrel with key or putting an older version pcm from 86 Taurus would that work too? Thanks
I just replaced my customer's pcm on his 2001 Lincoln LS 3.0L for a faulty ignition coil driver caused by a shorted coil. I am able to access the pats system on my snap on scan tool and get through the 10 min function. I have both factory transponder keys and went ahead and erased them and then relearned them. I also went back into the security screen and performed the parameter relearn. When all was said and done I was left with a crank, no start condition. Do you have any idea what I may be missing or doing wrong? You mentioned in your video that if replacing the pcm, then erasing the keys is not necessary. What do you need to do if you do erase the keys when not necessary, as I have done?
Im buying a reflashed PCM for my Excursion and was woundering if the Chinese ebay key programmers that are about $100 able to reprogram the PATs module to the new PCM or do I need the J2534 tool with a laptop to accomplish this.
Try Forscan and a laptop with a obdlink ex pass thru device or Ford IDS with a Vcx2 pass thru. Forscan is free $10 for extended license to program pcm $60 for obdlink. Ford IDS can be bought on EBay for less than $20 vcx cost around $100

Can you disable PATS with the IDS on a 2008 Ford F-150 going by example to parameter configuration!? You see this is the situation we get a used PCM from a 2008 F-350 that PCM has PATS in the RV we are going to use don’t have the PATS because key doesn’t have chips is no coil around the ignition lock cylinder. The old PCM no communication with the scanner and immediately you connected the PCM blow the PCM fuse the one from the junk yard doesn’t blow the fuse and you can see DATA pids ...this RV has only two modules separated from the PCM ... ABS, IP....
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I have a question. We are rebuilding a 6F35 for a 2014 Ford Escape and had to put a new techm in. Would a PCM and PATS update be required after I update the TCM module with the new sol body tag info?
Can someone please explain how plug and play CPU’s could possibly work? The vendor doesn’t have my keys or a way to connect a scan tool to my car. 1996 mercury villager.
I replaced my pcm with one that i had programmed to my vin number and i have pats system and only one key. What next step do i need to do as far as the one key i have since you say do not erase all keys. I went to the dealer to get a ford key and they cut me one that didn't even fit in the ignition and gave me a refund saying that i had to try a locksmith.

Absolutely not you will have to pay the dealer $425 just to program
Yes, you can as long as that device supports your pats type.
Unless doing volume work PATS removal etc are available inexpensively. The Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum is a good place to ask about reliable vendors.

It should not
agreed. i do them all the time and they don’t require it. solenoid strategy is usually a prog and go.
Does the transeiver on the lock cylinder have to be programmed after replacement?
no not typically on fords
