Gabe Gotti ... Here are a few more reasons:- England is overpopulated with relatively little agriculture or resources to support itself. Scotland is two thirds the size of England with one tenth the population of England. Subsequently Scotland produces excesses in agriculture which are exported to England. England produces only 70% of its electricity and is dependent on Scotland and France which both produce more electricity than they consume. Scotland produces an excess of wind power and when the tidal power generators are complete we will have a much greater excess of electricity generating capacity. Most of the forestry commission land is in Scotland, so England depends on our timber production. The vast majority of fishing grounds belong to Scotland. All of the oil fields and more than 90% of the gas fields lie in Scotland's sectors of the Continental Shelf. This is already delineated through various Geneva Conventions and The Continental Shelf Agreement signed and sealed by successive British Governments. The British have even claimed Rockall as part of Inverness shire on our behalf. The whisky revenues have been a massive source of income for centuries to the British exchequer. With Scotland's resources, Scotland will do very well without England's drain on its economy.

I personally like the shared identity we share as a nation, under one flag - the union flag. However, the fact of the matter is that we as a nation have little control over our own affairs and all the decisions we would like to make - which are specifically tailored with Scotland in mind - are routinely taken from us by England. We didn’t want to leave the EU, doesn’t matter, England did. We didn’t want Borris Johnson, doesn’t matter, England did. Two examples which are droplets in a pool of examples where the English overreach into our affairs. Yes we have devolved powers, but it’s not enough. I would like for the United Kingdom to remain united, but the only way I can see this happening is if Westminster hand over full power to us and we stay together merely as a symbolic and cultural state. So many of those opposed to Scottish independence are so vehemently anti-Scottish that it’s a wonder they even want us in the first place. They view us as the conjoined twin in a womb of union, desperately wanting to devour us and take the spotlight. Well in that case, let us leave if we are such a burden - or, hand over control to us, and we can retain the considerable friendship that still exists between our nations as well as a national identity.
The issue I see with the UK as an outsider, is that it's kinda sorta but not really like a federal state, yet there's no such thing as a federal only government. Westminster is both the government of England and the government of the whole kingdom and when push comes to shove, it ends up looking at England for decisions because it's where most of its MPs come from. Democratically it's hard to argue that they shouldn't do that either, exactly because of their odd position.
The UNION FLAG Is about colonies and conquest, enabling helping yourselves to another countries resources! The dominant St Georges Cross on top is the real answer!!
The European Union will not accept Scotland first because there are many countries that will refuse to do so, especially Spain, which will use its veto in order to prevent Scotland from joining the European Union so that Catalonia does not secede from Spain and rejoin the European Union. Gabe Gotti ... Here are a few more reasons:-
England is overpopulated with relatively little agriculture or resources to support itself.

The dominant St Georges Cross on top is the real answer!!
i am sorry but i hear an awful lot of anti english sentiment coming from the scots or scotland.
The European Union will not accept Scotland first because there are many countries that will refuse to do so, especially Spain, which will use its veto in order to prevent Scotland from joining the European Union so that Catalonia does not secede from Spain and rejoin the European Union. Secondly, the EU will not be approved. Accession as long as the referendum is illegal means that the UK government did not agree to it. Leaves EU during height of covid
...ok
No wonder the views have changed. One of the most important messages during the last referendum was that the only way to stay in the EU was to stay in the UK. That aged well, didn't it? Now that Scotland realizes how devastating Brexit is for Scotland - as well as for the rest of the UK - rejoining the EU as an independent country is a great way to get out of this mess.

It’s not just Scotland but also Wales and Northern Ireland that are looking to leave the UK currently. We are 4 separate countries and we are not in an equal Union. Independence is normal and there are many nations that show countries the size of Scotland or even Wales could easily survive and possible flourish on their own.

In 1707 Scotland gave up its monarchy to form a union under the Kingdom of Great Britain. Prior to this it was the Kingdom of Scotland and Kingdom of England. In 2014 Scotland voted to remain in The UK. Not once but twice The Scots have chosen to be in The UK. We don't know what the Scots think now because the only people we're hearing from never accepted either decision by The Scottish people anyway. Twice Scotland has chosen to remain. Neither were through conflict, war but a political decision.
All the problems are caused by the English dominant attitude..... I live in Wales...Even Welsh people want independence from UK.....🇬🇧🏴

Scotland is a proper country not like a corporation in London running England is. Scotland has a caring government wanting the best for its people. England is a small insulated group of super rich feeding off the mass of the British poor. Scotland has wealth when free that now it is getting the crumbs left over from the feeding frenzy in Westminster. Scotland is a European nation held hostage by a union that was forced on it. The tories should let them leave. It would be virtually impossible for the labor party to win an election without Scotland
Interestingly, one of the main arguments that swayed old unionists in the early stages of ref. 1 campaign was the fact that this isn't true. At least, in practice, Scotland's vote almost never sways it. Ironically, it was Scotland that returned a surprisingly significant Tory vote in 2019.
If England wants tory, it gets tory. If it wants Labour, it gets Labour. More or less. With PR this would be an unquestionably accurate statement. Given the gerrymandering that goes on, Tories have 'luck' or 'support' on their side.
But yeah, the point is we almost never made a difference. Most of Britain was tory for decades. The red walls popped up, if I remember, some time around mid last century. When the English Red walls fall, ours means nothing. There are like 5.5 million people in Scotland. 🤷♀️
