Here’s the thing when you say that you have a favorite Stevie song and then you listen to the next song and you say no that’s my favorite song. There’s a never ending favorite song. We all should count our blessings that we had the opportunity to live on this planet at the same time as this musical genius! When a person looks up musical genius there’s a picture of Mr. Stevie Wonder, and what a perfect name Wonder, because he is an absolute wonder!!!
Stevie is a master's master. He is my all-time-favorite musician/singer/songwriter/performer and all-around great and beautiful person. I saw him in concert a few years ago and it was absolutely a spiritual experience. And Nathan Watts is an incredible bassist.
I heard Superwoman around 1975 or so... That synth/Rhodes section at 5.20 is basically Stevie inventing how synths will be used in RnB for decades to come... still one of my favourite pieces of music ever 50 years later...
So good. This takes me back to the days when you bought the best stereo equipment you could afford, grabbed a cool beverage, sat in a comfortable chair and just listened to some great music. While you’re listening you could look at the album art, read the credits and the lyrics if available. Music has changed because listeners have changed.
Thanks man. "Superwoman (where were you)" is one of my top 10 faves from Stevie, a song that few if any have ever reacted to. Ultimately I hope you get to every one of my favorite songs by Stevie. I'll really love it when you get to "All I Do", "Overjoyed" and "That Girl".
Went to see Stevie in 1980 in Wembley Arena, England. Absolutely note perfect throughout. The Beatles from my childhood, Stevie from my teens and Prince in adulthood. My three go-to artistes of all time. Musical gods.
Fabulous music!! There's nobody like Stevie, a singular genius songwriter, musician, human. 'Where Were You...' is a personal fave too. Of course it's nigh on impossible to choose from such a mind-blowing body of work. RHCP and Eric Clapton have both covered 'Higher Ground'. No doubt loads of others. Not one I've picked up yet. Love the irresistible groove of 'I Wish', killer bass line, immediate radio earworm back in the day. And that slinky horn line?! Makes ya wanna move. 💃🏻🕺🏽 😊🤙🏼🎶❤️🍁❤️✨️🕊
I feel this was the album (Music Of My Mind) that transformed Stevie from a brilliant pop/R@B performer into one of the most important recording artists.
Stevie is to me a perfect synthesis of American black music (RnB, blues, pop) and Eurocentric music theory - amazing - thank you for playing the Music of my Mind cuts especially!❤
Trying to think of other multi instrumental artists who can sound this good? McCartney maybe? Anyone else come to mind? Stevie’s genius is almost unparalleled.
Man, who doesn't love Stevie? You could play him for the music director of the Berlin Philharmonic or the director of the Grand Old Opry, he blows everyone away
Stevie is deeper than people know him from his most famous hits for sure. My personal favorites are: Girl blue, Outside my window, Creepin and Come back as a flower
He's Misstra Know-It-All allegedly a reference to Tricky Dicky Richard Nixon. Willie Weeks features on lots of great albums including David Bowie's Young Americans.
Red Hot Chili Peppers do a killer version of Higher Ground. I Wish is one of my favorites. PLEASE do my two favorite Stevie songs, You Haven’t Done Nothin’ and Master Blaster.
Do, I Do, Creepin’, Don’t You Worry About A Thing, You Haven’t Done Nothing, All In Love Is Fair. Just a few great songs by Stevie that I encourage you to listen to.
I listened to this the day that you posted it.. I have always always loved Stevie.... a few days later today I was having a really difficult day. so I came back here to you and listened to these songs again.... and it helped a lot . calmed my energy, and I thank you for that.🤍🌸
Been in wonder of this man for years; thought I'd seen/heard where he was at - then… Singing at Sting's 60th birthday, a song of Sting's 'Fragile' on YT. Blew my mind. Just. Blew. My. Little. Mind. I'm suggesting you watch a bit of true genius…
Innervisions and Songs in the Key of Life has always been my favorite albums! One with a wide variety of extremely gifted musicians, the other he plays almost every instrument!
Growing up is hard/a revelation/a blessing. It’s a blessing when I think about a couple of folks from my youth that never got the opportunity to grow up. Take one step at a time. Embrace it. Lean on your partner and love the fact that you have a partner. You will make yourself proud to be you. Good luck young man.
Stevie was huge in the ‘70s for very good reason. In 1972 he opened for The Rolling Stones on their North American tour, and both bands played Uptight / Satisfaction together to close the show. Greatness. th-cam.com/video/meIl8_Ca-90/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SC9FwAffQ7g52XGv
Fade outs in the old days were to cut short the song enough to be fit for a single but they aren't always so bad. In the 70s and beyond, it's usually because the studio recording was from a take that didn't resolve itself/end properly and needed to be faded out before reaching that point. Less of a problem was a song that didn't start in an obvious place so hence we sometimes get a fade-in.
❤❤❤Have a DEEP SENTIMENTAL relationship with his first adult emancipation album, MUSIC of my MIND & later that year, TALKING BOOK again proving why 1972 was a peak explosive year for groundbreaking inventive new music. At 16, it was pure mindblowingly overwhelming. Stevie made Masterpiece after Masterpiece throughout the 70s.
I find it hard to find the right adjective to fit Stevie ie: genius, superb, original, excellent, spiritual, prolific, joyful. His contributions have to make our Creator smile. Thanks Lee for this reaction.
Haven't heard the first song before. I've really only heard his radio tracks. Will be ood to do a deeper dive. I forget if you've already reviewed Sir Duke. Probably. Will check . Will be listen to the rest of the tracks and see. Now I've heard them all. Great!
I consider this to be the zenith of the mini moog - (and clavinet) - there’s a man - I wish I could remember his name, he should be known. He was Stevie’s engineer and Mini-moog programmer/sound seeker on the early ‘70-‘75 (or so) albums PS Stevie’s Moog bass lines were incredible
I think you're thinking of Robert Margouleff and Malcolm Cecil and the Tonto synth... apparently Stevie never used a Minimoog on his classic era albums.. you can hear a recent interview with Robert if you look for Anthony Marinelli..
Love is in need of love today. And Pastime Paradise shows why Coolio had no power over Gangsters paradise. Everyone needs that Key of Life. As a person who has played the horn part of Sir Duke, I can say the sheet music intimidated me more than any classic music.
I hope there will be a time soon when you can listen to the entire Songs in the Key of Life. I believe it will energize your own life. One of the best albums ever made by anyone. You'll move yer ass a lot!
Just caught this now. Superwoman is a fantastic song. Higher Ground is great, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers took it to another level and just killed it
The word genius is thrown around a lot, but the word was invented to describe someone like Stevie Wonder.... You really should listen to Songs In The Key of Life all the way through.... Seriously, it's one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Rolling Stone listed it #4 all time. I personally think it's higher....

I forgot about Superwoman, such a great song.
Thank you. You can't go wrong picking a Stevie Wonder tune. Songs From The Key Of Life is my favorite Stevie album ... I think everyone owned it.
Innervisions all day long
I heard Superwoman around 1975 or so... That synth/Rhodes section at 5.20 is basically Stevie inventing how synths will be used in RnB for decades to come... still one of my favourite pieces of music ever 50 years later...
Stevie has a very deep discography, and his 'style' can vary greatly. You will find many Stevie Wonder songs that will surprise you. Keep going.
Stevie writes the most beautiful melodies. They’re always melody hooks in every song from his 70’s output.
So good. This takes me back to the days when you bought the best stereo equipment you could afford, grabbed a cool beverage, sat in a comfortable chair and just listened to some great music. While you’re listening you could look at the album art, read the credits and the lyrics if available.

Pure genius. Don't forget "Ribbon in the Sky '.
Tears will be shed.
Innervisions! And Songs in the Key of Life was a double LP WITH an additional attached EP with FOUR MORE TRACKS!!!
All day sucker...
Saturn.. all day sucker.. easygoing evening mama calls. And Ebony eyes!!!!
Thanks man. "Superwoman (where were you)" is one of my top 10 faves from Stevie, a song that few if any have ever reacted to. Ultimately I hope you get to every one of my favorite songs by Stevie. I'll really love it when you get to "All I Do", "Overjoyed" and "That Girl".

Stevie does a nice cover of The Beatle's "We Can Work It Out" Try pairing both versions.
Stevie is to me a perfect synthesis of American black music (RnB, blues, pop) and
Eurocentric music theory - amazing - thank you for playing the Music of my Mind cuts especially!❤
Man, he opened it all up....💥
Trying to think of other multi instrumental artists who can sound this good? McCartney maybe? Anyone else come to mind? Stevie’s genius is almost unparalleled.
Todd Rundgren.
I was about to say Todd Rundgren too!@@courtneywallace871
Dave Grohl :) less instruments; same concept. Also Tom Scholz on Boston’s debut, even though he didn’t sing
@@courtneywallace871 Just what I was thinking!
@@lisannebaumholz5028 😊
Was privileged to see his Circle Square concert in Seattle, dancing in the halls, dancing in the kitchen now🤗
Love that 70’s sound from Stevie, so smooth.
Man, who doesn't love Stevie? You could play him for the music director of the Berlin Philharmonic or the director of the Grand Old Opry, he blows everyone away
You need to react to ‘Maybe Your Baby’. Probably Stevie’s funkiest (and one of his best) tracks ever.
His melodies are always beautiful.
Born: May 13, 1950. 22/23 years old when he made this.
Another fantastic song by Stevie is "Creepin'"
Creep in’ is a fabulous, favorite song!

Do, I Do, Creepin’, Don’t You Worry About A Thing, You Haven’t Done Nothing, All In Love Is Fair. Just a few great songs by Stevie that I encourage you to listen to.
Lee first reacted to don’t you worry about a thing! You should check it out. It’s really good and don’t forget to leave it thumbs up.
@@janewells5970 I did saw his reaction to it, about a month ago, and just forgot. Thanks for the reminder.

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers covered "Higher Ground" and it had a big MTV rotation, so you might have heard that version.

The song is actually called,
"Mistra No It All"
Fade outs in the old days were to cut short the song enough to be fit for a single but they aren't always so bad. All Stevie's music I'd outstanding
Stevie is definitely the king of the outro. He let’s that shit riiiiiide.
yay! now you know why I asked about the I wish song......😊
best hi hat on bussiness . Stevo!
What no one has told you is that Jeff Beck played on some Stevie tracks. If you're familiar with him, you've heard him all over the place.
You should check out The Amazing Rhythm Aces. Anything from Stacked Deck or Too Stuffed To Jump would work.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers covered Higher Ground.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are famous to a large extent because of their cover of Higher Ground.
really? i had no idea they did one. i'll have to check it out. thank you!
Mistra know it all. My favourite.
He's Misstra Know-It-All written about Pres Nixon
Just caught this now. Superwoman is a fantastic song. Higher Ground is great, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers took it to another level and just killed it
'Genius' is a grossly overused term, but not in Stevie's case.
All his albums are good for many reasons, but Inner Visions is intravenous for me.
❤❤ 👍

Mistra Know It All is a good description of Trump and countless other hucksters since Stevie made this song.
