- Magnus Carlsen vs Vladislav Artemiev | Death Match
On Wednesday, at 20:00 Eastern time, the first Death Match took place, in which Magnus played against former Russian and European blitz champion Vladislav Artemyev in a Best-of-24 match. The time control is 3 minutes for all moves in 2-second increments.
This generation is blessed with great chess content
absolutely
I would have loved to have these 20 years ago.
With chess content at all! I was drinking beer watching chess the other day on a big screen TV.
8:06 😅😅m 9:19 omok 13:04 en m
Magnus came long way from good old days, when his webcam would drop every 2-3 minutes and video feed disappear every so often :)
The good ol days haha! Made chess (geniuses) seem approachable....
Yeah, the good old days when his greatest rival was GM Webcam.
Wow, we get to see Carlson, world's best, play chess and he talks... Amazing.. And he is human, blunders a bishop
I guess we all make mistakes.. He is my favorite player of all.time.though. Probably a cool dude too...
Magnus is really the best player in any way and situation! Amazing...
Thank You Spect For This Video !
:)
Death match means that whoever lose will be killed after the game. Rip Atermiev 😥
If Stockfish could ask a player if there was a better move, it would be Carlsen
Can someone explain why didnt he move KG7 at 43:06? Im new to this, so probably i got this wrong, but wouldnt it prevent black king to come F6, and allow the pawn to pass?
watch annotation, he can't move to this square
it's just too fast to analyze cause pieces moving fast
@@SpectacleChess thanks, I see it now :)
He couldn't put the K to g7 because you can't put your own king in check with your opponent's king; who was covering the immediate square g7.
He trained Artemiev so hard 🤣
We are lucky to watch streams by world champion
Watching endgames is nerve wrecking, I hate it when people purposely stalemate out of spite.
At 33:10, isn't "... c2" just winning? White has to sac the bishop to prevent promotion with check, leaving black's king (and potentially bishop,) to gobble white's A and D pawns. Black can then run the G pawn up the board, using the bishop for protection until the black king can take over and for waiting moves where necessary.
Am I missing something? I mean, I know Magnus only had 4 seconds left on the clock, but it seems like such an intuitive win, especially with increment.
you're right, yes, he missed c2 move
c2 wins but after bxc2, bxc2 white pushes the a pawn but black has to take the d pawn first and is only barely in the box so he played the increment game
true but, i belive that is cose he has only 5 seconds left and didnt see that. sshis shows he also human.
5:00 LOL casually says "so i'm thinking [6 moves ahead]"!! damn, i do not look THAT far ahead... didn't realise i should be...
On which chess site is this stream?
chess 24 but i dont know how to get this layout
33:50 - "Серьёзно?" xD
Whos channel is this?
mine
Obviously 🤣
I dunno thought it was magnus new channel or some shit lol
Wow, he didn't lose a single game in the whole match(+13=11)
+7=11

I love this guy
Okay I’m not sure but 2:40:16 doesn’t knight d to f4 win the queen?
Not quite. It actually loses the game. Try to figure out why...
Also a beginner but I think the idea is, after nf4 exf4 rxd7 you get ne2 forking king and queen, with the rook on c7 hanging in the end
2:37
On 5:42, why did he take with the Knight instead of the pawn? And why did Artemiev take with the Knight ass well before that?
because he is attacking the bishop on b4, then Magnus defense it again with his knight
@@SpectacleChess Ok, now I get attacking the bishop for Artemiev. But why capture white Knight with Black night (and lose that Knight the next turn) instead of capturing the white Knight the black pawn on C6 for Magnus?
@@igaTrinit Magnus is defending his bishop with the knight, you can analyse position with the engine, just paste fen:

@@SpectacleChess Ooooh I get it now, thank you!
1:55:30 ish for blessed magnus “let’s-a go”
Magnus gets 2 minutes more than I get in 3/2. He should try my connection of 1Mps and being forced to lose many games from connection problems. Simple interface but issue is sites pushing ads all the time and have unnecessarily overly congested scripts having nothing to do with the game.
He would crush you everytime with your connection and you with a 2Gps
@@juliocadavid6640 Not so. I gave up chess not long ago based on the horrendous experience on chess24. In only hours I lost 600 points and not from playing poorly - I'd be up a queen or rook so many times then forced to lose from the site not letting me move. Just for the hell of it, I tried logging in to chess24 a few minutes ago. I waited 2 minutes and the page wouldn't load. I had to restart FF. Just so you know. You made a nice remark that is fine for joking around but the fact is, with my WinXP, resources always at 100% RAM, slow internet, it's just not enough when chess24 wants to make a nonsense page with too many scripts.
I would beat Magnus 3:1. He'd get some wins in for sure but he'd be forced to lose a lot if he had what I have.
@@compresswealthdivideeconom3757 ok youre right. I forgot chess24 is a problem when theres other issues as connection so yeah. I play not much on chess24 because of that
You could play chess on an old US Robotics modem...the notion you need high speed net for chess 😂😂😂
@@TheDendra7 I say the same, if only the pages were not full of scripts. I have big connection issues with all the chess sites.
