@@blackdereker4023 Lichess "Stockfish" level 8 is not Stockfish 8. It's actually Fairy-Stockfish. Stockfish 8 is a lot stronger.

lvl 8 stockfish on lichess is meant to be drawable or even beatable because it does make mistakes, its not the strongest stockfish can be because you just can't win against full power stockfish

@@bmdoes_stuff6861I wouldn't say perfectly - recently it buried one of its bishops behind its own pawns against Leela in TCEC and was essentially down a piece the entire game. Ended up losing the game as a result. Occasionally getting a piece trapped / buried / inactive is a known issue with alpha beta engines like stockfish. However I must add that it is still the strongest engine there is, being some 30 elo points ahead of Leela.
@@BruceWayne-jh4wh well it could just be an outplay by Leela as even these engines at best give 99.7% accuracy. Although these engines can easily beat any human down a bishop

@@chessdejavu4344 Yes. "full power" Stockfish is only possible with the UCI version.
It's very valuable to have this POV as GM experience of play. This would be great to see you draw a round against Stockfish. But if you don't, maybe that'll be fun to watch you and Stockfish play that Alex Botez and Magnus match where he had 0.5 min and she had 5 min.

I like these 10 minute time control vs. formidable but not impossible engine games where the logic and explanations are given along the way. Learn a lot this way. Granted Hikaru's thought process sees miles beyond what most of us are capable of. The fact he gives so much advanced content and still is one of the best in the world in all variants and time formats shows that experience is hugely important. So we have to apply thus knowledge not merely enjoy it to rise to the top. Proving that chess streaming isn't damaging to competitiveness.

Hikaru is a Marlin in a world of stock fishes
From my experience it's pretty much everybody vs. Stockfish on lichess. I play ten games in a row 1/0 against 1800s and get blown off the board every time and they have 48 seconds left with zero blunders.
Hanging out with level 8 Stockfish for more than 5 minutes is extraordinary performance to me.

The last time I pitted engines from LC and C against each other at highest level. LC won. At that time I estimated LC level 7 to be around 2750 and level 8 around 500 points higher.

very interesting to hear what's on your mind when you play, because normally pro chess players are silent and we never know what's on their mind or how do they analyze the next move. Now I can see that there is nothing extraordinary or superhuman, you, pro chess players are human just like everybody else, however you just memorized and trained for all the possible outcomes and that's what makes you good at this game

I think previously the levels of stockfish on lichess were roughly arranged so that stockfish level 8 plays at around 3000 (lichess) elo strength. Not sure of this is still true.

Curious, do top chess players like yourself have a very good visual or photographic memory? I think they must. I have so much trouble keeping track of the threats on the board, let alone seeing multiple moves in advance. Nonetheless, I really like videos like this where we get insight into your thought process.

Hikaru should do speed run on lichess.
There is also a ton of bot accounts on lichess you can play against, quite a few Stockfishes on the strongest level, some Leelas and some other interesting bots(such as LazyBot, which is Leela without calculating, just playing on instinct, and is 2700 blitz)
