Also, you can take the real goldy brass look out with a light rub down with an ultra fine scotch bright pad 👍. That’s usually what I do for “satin”. And if you go easy you should cut through the brass plating.

Glad to hear it, Chris! I'm assuming he's likely to be moving because of a family thing(job, health, etc; haven't watched his vid yet but will), so I hope all is well on that side of things.
But a part of me is wondering if he can't take being in the same zip code with the scrapsketball champ anymore...
Either way, much love and joy to you guys and your families! Looking forward to see what you do next! (Hoping some sort of in-person workshop thing comes back around! Was signed up in the second cohort before you guys finally had to bag it.)

As a young man I was obsessed with finishing my 8 hour work day, and then my 6 hours 'refurb my house' time, and then watching Norm Abraham on some home channel. I loved not necessarily his finished items but his craftsmanship and methods and the fact that he had every powertool, jig, machine and gizmo known to woodcrafting. He was a nice guy too. I had to give up my workshop when I moved house and self flagelated myself with an insane workload and now at 51 I yearn to get a workshop back, gather up all my tools, a van, and get back on the tools. You guys are the modern day 'Norms' (not 'Normos') with your videos and craftsmanship and ethos. So massively watchable and the mid century style you have is right up my street. Fantastic work and I will be diving down the educational rabbit hole this channel provides time and time again and learning masses from it. Hopefully when I finish all my current property portfolio with my creative brain smashing the interiors, and kick back, I will come and visit you and do a course and hang out. To the trolls.... get a f******g GRIP! This stuff is fractionally distilled excellence! From The UK with a manhug. Well done and keep on keeping on! Paul Million.

Its like it feels like i know him and i could talk with him for ages and everything he says makes sence. i dont even know nothing about woodwork but i still watch him for some reason. it feels good to just lay down and play his videos and i cannot say anything bad about him. this guy is like my favourite thing to watch

Man, I love the attitude you're taking about people using your designs. As someone who is getting into this craft, I have often wondered about how I might build my skillset. I think copying other people's work to use in my own home is a great way to do it. But, then what do you do when you build the next thing? You can't just stack all of these pieces up in your garage. Selling those practice projects makes a lot of sense.
You're even taking it a little farther. I would not have probably set out to build another person's design for the purpose of reselling at a profit. The fact that you have given the green light to do so on small scale is really cool.

This came up in my recommendation and I am glad i watched and you have earned a subscriber from the monologue on allowing folks to use your work to hone their skills without fear or being prosecuted as there are quite a few folks who have made inspired works and have been sued over them by some overzealous individual

Greetings, fellow sandwhich artist! Thank you for highlighting the silliness of people's attitudes about what people's work is worth. People deserve to work and be happy and live well. Labor is valuable, otherwise business owners wouldn't hire people in order to make money from others' work. Ergo...your builds are worth a lot. Thanks for all the great videos.

People are always going to be keyboard critics and tell you you shouldn’t charge x for y. You guys make beautiful and interesting pieces, you should charge whatever the heck you feel like. And when it’s an auction for charity?!?!?

It took sixty hours. And perhaps fifteen, twenty years.
Go build skill, amass tools, sale skill, and all the rest before its even a table.
Throw the ugly piece in storage 50 years and it's antique. And then it's still all subjective.
Is it handmade if you use a drill?lol.
It's worth what it's sold for.
Go art on life. Make with passion and the paper comes nuff to make next and pass some love.

Love this channel. I have a question i’m sure is asked a lot, but maybe not…why black epoxy? (I love that choice and the desk is so beautiful BTW). I was wondering if you had a process to get to black. I was thinking of other options and thought a milky amber might cool too. Thanks for the last build of 2022. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thanks. I think black is (in a weird way) the most invisible option. Like when. you look at the top your eye isn't drawn to it. Where as a color it would be.

I hardly can't believe there's people around spending life's precious time in disliking what other peoples do. What went wrong after they were born. Why disagree on anything that's free to watch or to not watch.
There's a lot of truth in what you said about change. People often do not like change. And why change a winning team. You only do that with good reason. And good reasons aren't always obvious reasons.
So now there's again a good reason for change and people again don't like it.
Shaun is an excellent woodworker and so are you. And we're watching a woodworkers channel so what's up with that negativity. Go search for a mirror, look yourself into your hateful eyes and ask yourself the only question left. Who should be punched íf anyone ever should be punched.
You guys, both of you, I love your work, I love your style, I love your comments, I love your little plays. Live your life and never let that negativism in.

  • @chrisjcichocki
    @chrisjcichocki ปีที่แล้ว

Very well done. Poetic is a word I would use, as well as pensive and philosophical. The videos have your own style, and for those that are real, empathetic humans, the comments are reflective of the quality of your work.
The negative ducks will always lay eggs around and make noise, but they can’t have an impact here because the culture is quite predominantly supportive.
In fact, my only negative comment is that you may have mentioned them one too many times. To shine a light on them will let us all contemplate their role versus our own. Then we share our positive reviews and turn our collective backs on them.
Mentioning them more that one time gives them energy to continue spilling their black souls on the surface of your video comments.
+1 like from me. Keep up the amazing work. I hope to recreate one of your desks some day. I would consider it an honor to build something from someone I respect and admire.
