Nice work as always, Chris!) You could safe a lot of time (22:10) just routing the material between those saw cuts. I mean all three dados at once, using two straight bars that are higher than leg piece as rails for a router with straight bit. Since you're routing between cuts there will be no tear outs and you'll get a nice flat bottom of a dados.
Definitely would be a time saver. You’d need a router table though right? If I’m understanding correctly. But for the sake of plans I didn’t want to assume. Plus with only two of them to make. Factoring in set up time. It’s probably about a 5 minute difference. Making kids of these though. Definitely
@Chris Salomone No, you don't need a router table for this. All you need is to saw first and last cuts on each dados like you did on 22:10. So six cuts on each leg piece. Than you'll need two pieces of wood or plywood that are equal or a little bit thicker than your leg piece. Attach your leg piece to any flat surface with double sided tape, then attach those two pieces on both sides of leg piece and put a router on them. Set router bit to same depth as your cuts and rout the material between cuts. It's kinda the same technics as slab flattening sledge but without sledge, for your leg piece width is not as big so the length of the router base will be enough.
You should do a follow-up series where followers follow your plans to make their own pieces -- would be really interesting to see what kinds of challenges others are running into

Also toad was the best in Mario kart 64. I will die on that hill.
If you wait to cut the bottom until you have built your sled you could use the sled to cut the bottom and then you would guarantee the shelves and drawers are parallel. Even if you only have to nibble away a little. I suppose you could cut the top as well
I think you're right...I think in that case, cutting the bottom/top would actually be the first step, since then the dados are based off of using a fence that needs to reference those edges.
for sketchup, I just use a plug in called "key frame animator" it's pretty simple from a technical point of view, and they have resources to show you how it works. it's about $20 or $30 as I recall. I would make a video...but I think only about 12 people would watch it, so....
You could leave your foot and uh top foot? slightly proud of the miter junction and sneak up on the point of the miter once you have your sled built then cut your dado’s ensuring all angles are exactly the same
Awesome, I learned many things, especially about techniques and workflow, although in business as a hobbyist for over 20 yrs! 👍😉 Please Carry on like this 👌😀
At 34m13s I did it last saturday. I ended up with 12 stitches on my thumb and index because the piece I was cutting kicked on the table saw. USE APPROPRIATE SAFETY TOOLS AND THE BLADE JUST ENOUGH HIGH TO CUT YOUR PIECES ;-)
After looking through the plans and previewing some of the videos I have to commend y’all on the great product. Really, plans and instructional videos for the masses aren’t easy to pull off but you did it. I can only imagine the effort that is put into them. Bravo.
Beautiful piece. Very elegant and tasteful design. Great production too, with awesome animations... But I have to say, every time I see you sizing a board where you just let it overhang, and fall to the ground, I die a little inside! lol Not to tell you what to do, but I'd cut those supported by a table, on top of a piece of rigid foam board insulation.
One more way to cut dados. If you have a compound sliding miter saw with a depth stop, you can set its angle by referencing the bottom of the piece, then easily slide cut the dados. It's actually the simplest way as far as i imagine

Amazing production, I think more work goes into the filming and editing than the build, and then there is the plans! Great work very well done..
Thanks...a lot definitely goes into it. But between building, YT video, and Plans...plans is definitely the most work. Though they are all kind of connected.
Your desk is beautiful, I'm excited to see your desk, Your workplace is really nice, I like this place.
Another option for the dados would be the trenching feature on a miter saw over the sled. Especially if you don't have the shop room for larger sleds
Dear Chris,
You have not made a pluralization joke/thickni joke in a long time.
I miss this joke.
Love everything,
Thanks much.
at 30:45 you drilled the walnut leg in order to attach the shelf with a screw from the outside. why didn't you attached it from the inside?
As always simply amazing.
This popped up in my auto play. I'm watching it. Appreciating the background music. Good looking rabbets. Nice close-up shot. Then they get to the Mario kart conversation and I'm like "wait a damn minute I watched this last summer!" LOL. Nice work TH-cam. Oh well at least I got to hang out w Chris and Shawn again.
Also toad was the best in Mario kart 64. I will die on that hill.
Yup, Yup, Yup.... just as dope as I thought it would be!!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Gorgeous work. I need to study up and get on your level
Amazingly beautiful lines
Beautiful as always !
Amazing piece. I would love to use that as an AV stand.
dude your work is amazing
Your projects and videos are amazing!
Love the combination of oak and walnut, very good content thanks!
Beautiful piece of furniture and super detailed explanation of how to build tuning in from Australia 👍🦘
Could you cover animating using Fusion 360 if possible in an episode or two? :)
for sketchup, I just use a plug in called "key frame animator" it's pretty simple from a technical point of view, and they have resources to show you how it works. it's about $20 or $30 as I recall. I would make a video...but I think only about 12 people would watch it, so....
@@Foureyes.Furniture Gotcha, thanks for the tip though! :) Loving your animations on SketchUP, never stop using these please :p
Love your work. It reminds me a bit of George Nakajima who combined Shaker & Japanese design and aesthetics.
I really enjoyed this layout for your project video. Very educational and inspiring. Look forward to what you guys have coming in the future!
Thanks so much!
Beautiful as always.
Dayuuummmm soon this looooks gooooooot. I want it
You could leave your foot and uh top foot? slightly proud of the miter junction and sneak up on the point of the miter once you have your sled built then cut your dado’s ensuring all angles are exactly the same
I love your designs man
Been lurking a while, and it's so relaxing watching you guys. Beautiful design and execution. Subscribed, bought the plans for my winter project.
Awesome, I learned many things, especially about techniques and workflow, although in business as a hobbyist for over 20 yrs! 👍😉 Please Carry on like this 👌😀
one of them who appreciate your work .
Your videos always inspired me to start doing my upcoming woodworking projects even though I never did one! :D
You are amazing... And super generous with information.
That is a beautiful piece. I would love to have something like that.
Love you furniture and the well thought out processes. Bought a set of plans tonight.
Thanks Justin...hope you enjoy them. Definitely let us know if you have any questions, and share a pic when you're all done :)
Been a long time since a build like this, but worth it. Great job as always Chris, cheers.
One more way to cut dados. If you have a compound sliding miter saw with a depth stop, you can set its angle by referencing the bottom of the piece, then easily slide cut the dados. It's actually the simplest way as far as i imagine
Great job guys! And it s really pleasant to watch your videos!👏👏👏
Really enjoyed this one! Thanks guys keep it up
Exclusive work!!!
Incredible piece!! 🙌🙌
you have a very calming voice :)
Beautiful work, great video! Congrats and thanks!
Brilliant projects. Well done. Amazing.
you guys are amazing. I liked this model
