    Gems. And I think only us woodworkers actually notice those things. I show my wife things like grain match and little things I put in my pieces and she points out that someone who buys this will never probably even notice it. lol I think the gems are more for us than the customer. Haha

    Gems. Just ordered a wardrobe that’s all white on the outside so it is as little visible in the white-walled bedroom as possible. But all the edge banding and some of the drawers (the ones I will use as part of my morning routine) will be made from a more pricey material: still tuned down (grey) but with a texture similar to linen that is a nice touch in the literal tactile sense. Only I will ever see/feel it but I deserve it. ;) I hear some Japanese robes were all plain and elegant on the outside with a crazy amount of embroidery on the inside for just a few paira of eyes to behold. ;)

    Gems!!! Contrasting wood species, when done correctly, looks awesome. The natural beauty of wood just amplifies a good design. 28:48 Tests have shown that threaded inserts are less strong than threaded wood. That's down to the coarse TPI used for the outer thread of insert.
    If you're planning on screwing things in and out a lot of times, the insert is a better choice, although the strength on the join is lower.
    If you're going to screw something in and leave there potentially forever, and you don't want the threads to rip out through movement forces, threaded wood is stronger.

    I feel divided between gimmick and/or gem. If a piece is, in it self, sharp and both well designed and made, a hidden gem is what elevates good to realy good. If not, it feels more like an attempt to repair a not-so-good project.
    To me, in this buld the small triangles was a super well thought out little detail that clearly showed a craftsman and designer behind the piece. The triangulat theme together with a airy and light feel makes me think this is your best design so far. Much appreciated that you shared the result and the way you got there. Subscribed!

    Gyms? Jim's? Gems? Whatever it is, I love subtle little details like the triangles you added here. Real neato.
    One suggestion though- bookmatching the oak on the drawer fronts would've been snazzy ... or cutting them from a longer board for continuous grain since the continuousness of the walnut was lost.

      @@TimberBiscuitWoodworks @TimberBiscuitWoodworks Ah, I see... I must've missed that for some reason. Just finding your videos and I am impressed. I love you narratives, giving great detailed information, and your very slight, movie references, humor. Your work is exceptional! I am curious, what is the time difference between filming and off camera activities? The amount of time I spend trying to calculate and plan angles has to be like a 10 to 1 ratio. Your work, this video specifically, must have a ton of planning time. Anyway, thank you for sharing your work.

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks
      @TimberBiscuitWoodworks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, first off, welcome to the channel and thank you for your kind words. When it comes to angles and planing I think of those as two separate parts. I spend a lot of time in my shop and I like to take that extra step to showcase whatever activity I'm doing in a way that people might not have seen before. So when it comes to planing shots most of the time I just work with what I have as far as composition. There are some shots I see in films and I a make mental note or written notes and try to replicate those when I can. But there is a ton of planing that goes into actually building the other parts, so I kind of invision what that process will look like and try to plan accordingly. I honestly spend about 60% of the time building and 40% planing at this point.

    Gems - they make a nice accent. I really like how this piece turned out. Very sleek, with a nice sense of movement and uncommon aesthetic.

    Beautiful piece, great video, and a very nice space to work in. Also, thanks for taking time to demonstrate your processes. You've inspired me to cut some brass on my otherwise woodworking bandsaw. In the video, you mentioned you're using a 6 tpi blade. Did you mean to say 16 tpi?

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks
      @TimberBiscuitWoodworks  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! I'm really happy to hear you found some inspiration. For the bandsaw blade, the higher the tooth count the better, but I did just use a 6 tpi blade and it worked great.

  • @cjsawinski

    For the brass handles… I just had the idea pop in my head to do them centered on the drawer face, but at an angle that matches your inlay… would have been kinda cool I think.

    Gems! Those are the things that make a project. Though I do agree that sometimes people go too far with them. Link when people pour river tables and include a full game of spades inside. Like, that isn't going to age well.

    At 13:00 you are swiping your fingertip across the tablesaw blade while using a small red block. I watch a lot of WoodTube content and have never seen this. Is it a depth gauge and you're checking for clearance?

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks
      @TimberBiscuitWoodworks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, that is a setup block. I have a few at various thicknesses and I’m checking that just the tip of the saw blade is above the block.

    Gems, an absolutely amazing and beautiful piece of artwork you Sir are a true MASTER Craftsman always look forward to your videos love all the humor you had into your voiceovers true gold. Have a question would you think about doing a review of your dust collector I’m new to woodworking and have been looking at that dust collector just wondering what you think about it now that you’ve had it for a bit and if it works for everything you got?

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks
      @TimberBiscuitWoodworks  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you very much, I really appreciate the encouraging review! I can tell you that I do like the dust collector overall for a small shop. Recently I have been doing larger projects and that means it fills up pretty quickly, which results in having to clean out the filter pretty frequently. But that would really be my only negative. I'd like to upgrade to a larger unit and hardline everything at some point, but for now I'll be sticking with the mini gorilla.

    • @jimrosson6702
      @jimrosson6702 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for answering my question I truly appreciate it the Mini Gorilla seems to be a great dust collector I’ve looked at some other brands but the Mini Gorilla I think is the one I’m going to go with I’ve do appreciate the feedback and honestly about how much you like it. Can’t wait to see what you build next keep up the amazing work.
